assuming you don't have a fever or body aches you probably have a cold, thats why you have phlegm and an itchy throat. As for your ears aching its because you have phlegm congested in your system. take a lozenge every 6-7 hours, drink lots of fluids but don't drink orange juice though because it'll make your throat itchier only take vitamin c when you feel like your going to get the flu or a cold or when everybody around you is sick.
I have excessive phlegm, but no cough, seems to be worse after I eat. I am constantly clearing my throat, & getting a sore throat b/c of trying to clear it all the time. I'm getting some relief from Allegra, and some natural remedies, but it's not enough.
However, everyday he continues to feel excessive phlegm build up in his chest and has to clear his throat constantly throughout the day. The phlegm is thick but not unusually discolored. The phlegm is not affected by eating habits nor exercise. Otherwise, he is and has been in very good health (and thus does not believe it is necessary to see his doctor). However, I would like to know why he is producing so much phlegm and if there should be cause for concern. Thank you!

I can't really determine if it's in my lungs/chest or in my throat. Probably more in my throat. The x-rays I had taken came back clear on my lungs. If I take a deep breath, I immediately start another coughing bout. Any comments/suggestions?

I am a 23 year old and I have had excessive phlegm or saliva every time after I eat or drink anything from the time I was about 10-11 years old. It always causes me to produce a "wet" cough (just one) after I eat or drink anything to clear my throat and then several times of just clearing my throat without coughing for roughly 30 minutes. There is no stopping the cough unless I want to choke on the mucus.
My symptoms were mostly lots of throat drainage and phlegm in my throat, but then I started getting an itchy throat. I started taking claritin to stop the itch, and to prevent the sore throat that I would get from the drainage. A few months ago, I started sneezing these white particles, which are the size of, or atleast comparable to the size of a piece of oatmeal. I looked at one under a microscope and it just looked like a glob of brown cells. They also have a strong, bad smell.
I've had an ongoing cough for a year now. My throat always feels itchy like there's dust in the throat and it makes me cough. When I feel the sensation coming on, the only relieve I get is if I drink water. My cough is also of a white/clear phlegm and it leaves me breathless afterwards. Its affecting my work and sleep at night. Smoke, spicy food and dust also sets me off. I've been tested for allergies and the only thing I'm allergic to is grass mix.
My eustachian tubes and ear were aching on Tuesday. My throat was sore Wednesday and also yesterday evening. I woke up this morning coughing up small peices of phlegm once again.

This can be associated with postnasal drip and throat clearing. This can in turn irritate the throat lining. If infection is suspected, you need to send the sputum or throat swab for culture, microscopy, staining to rule out the pathogen and should also take chest radiograph. Antibiotic sensitivity of culture will decide the effective drug.
I sometimes get a scratchy feeling in my throat (not painful at all). I sometimes get really itchy ears, and an itch nose oh and itch cheeks. I have suffered from a few bouts of hay fever in my life so i know this throat thing isn't hay fever. What do you think it is? Please help.
I'm a 19 year old male with no history of asthma, but i do have an allergy to pet dander. When im around cats or dogs, my eyes get itchy, my throat feels "puffy" and i sneeze. What I'm experiencing right now is totally different, so i dont think it's allergies. My throat just feels kind of constricted, and when i breathe through my mouth, i have a wheeze comming from my THROAT, which you can hear only if you were in close proximity to me, and it was quiet in the room.

I started with spots in my throat and an elevated temperature last week, but my throat didn't hurt per se, it was itchy and hot feeling, a bit like thrush would. However it started after I had terrible acid during the night coming up my throat. The spots on my throat look nothing like regular tonislitis, but the dr gave me antibiotics nonetheless which did not work. It only got worse.
The phlegm does not begin until about 45 minutes after I wake up in the morning and lasts, usually, for about 3 hours. At night, my throat tends to be dry and itchy. I also have experienced some sinus congestion in the morning. I have not experienced any other symptoms (e.g., fatigue, fever, chills, etc.). Not even a sore throat. And I do not smoke. A physician prescribed flonase, amoxicillin, and promethazine.
it even hurts there now a little, it feels relieving having a clear swallow (if that makes sense) and now I have this feeling like I'm swallowing something in the lower bottom of my throat now much less noticeable though. Also before I could hack up some the phlegm I felt it in my throat now now when I try to get it up I feel it coming up my throat but right before it comes to my mouth its like it goes somewhere else and nothing comes out.
Looked through several web sites and read several forums and realized that it may have something to do with the phlegm in my throat. In the morning I gag and I am constantly swallowing to get the phlegm out from the back of my throat. The taste and feel of it back there makes me nauseated so I try and eat something to removed it hoping it will push down with food.
So, I still had excessive mucus in my nose.. high presence of phlegm in my throat (frequent clearing of throat)... then, since a spell of diaorrhea, my feces has become orange-yellow in color, and it hurts to eliminate. I get stomach pains everytime I drink after a meal. Any scratches or cuts that I get are also very slow to heal, leaving first a red blotch and then a black one that never seems to go away.
It began in 1976 and re occurs every 5 to 6 years. I get a sore throat (not tonsils but when you swallow) I now go straight on antibiotics and use Bricanyl inhaler although it doesnt seem to have much effect except to cause alot of mucus coughed up from the lungs. It causes me to have spasm coughing and if I cannot control this to 3 or 4 coughs my windpipe closes over making it hard to breath in or out.
