I developed a cough later, and have recently had an itchy throat with sinus drainage. This morning I woke up and the rash had spread to my palms, the tops of my hands and my arms. The skin is smooth to the touch and isn't raised any higher no sores... just itchy red spots on my thighs, hands and lower arms. I went to the health center today and my doctor said the rash may be caused by strep throat, but I am concerned that this is not the case. What could be the problem?

He does not know what is causing the rash. I am getting a better sleep but still wake up middle of night with itchy burning hands. If I go off the drugs all the symptons return. Today (10/22/09) I developed a sudden itchy rash that turned the skin on my arms and knees hot and bright pink. There are small portions of raised white skin that look similar to mosquito bites of different sizes, but I haven't seen bugs recently (it's cold out) and I don't remember being bitten. Pityriasis rosea sometimes is not typical like you see in photographs where they bring to show the herald patch etc.Non itchy rash apart from the earlier diagnosis could be hives which generally itchy .I always rule out sec.syphilis in any nonitchy rash, while your case may not demand a test if you have no h.o of exposure.

ps. the rash isn't itchy at all but the dryness has made me skin a little tight, and my 8 year old nephew also had the same rash..(he lives at our house like 4 days of the week) and his did not itch either. and there have been no new soaps.

About 3 days ago I got a rash on my face and neck (especially around the collar), but not on my back or chest. I had no fever, sore throat, lymphadenopathy or anyother ARS symptoms. You may get some additional relief for itchy rash by using a cool compress on it - just cold water on a face towel. BUT don't let the towel touch your incision or the drain site! Very important. I just got this rash, it looks like little bumps, at first there are a white spot around the red bump and then my whole leg turns red, when my leg is red in some spots it looks like my flesh just got slabbed on my body it is raised. it is hot and itchy. I have tried Aveeno and it did nothing, I also bought benadrill cream and it helped the swelling but then it started to turn parts of my legs purple, I have also tired cortisone 1 percent and 10 percent.
