Hello, Itchy skin that isn't accompanied by other obvious skin changes, such as a rash, is most often caused by dry skin (xerosis). Skin conditions like psoriasis, dermatitis, fungal infections and hives, internal diseases like liver and kidney disorders, diabetes, iron deficiency anemia, irritation and allergic reactions to chemicals, wool, soaps, cosmetics and certain foods can cause itchy skin. You can apply an anti-itch cream or lotion to the affected area.
Itchiness of the whole body could be due to extreme dryness of the skin or due to jaundice. It could be due to iron deficiency anemia, liver and kidney disorders, thyroid disorders, polycythemia, diabetes and malignancies (cancer). It could also be due to certain medications and food. Others could be due to skin conditions like contact dermatitis and scabies. In contact dermatitis exposure to an irritant like a chemical or metal or anything you are allergic to, can cause rash and itching.
Hey guys, for th past 5 or so days I have had itching down the side of my penis, and what seems to look like tissue paper around the base of the penile head and under the skin, I'm quite certain this isn't a STD, but would like to know some sort of feedback before I see a GP.
I thought it could be a kidney infection. Even though I'm a 24 male this was still a concern due to liver damage I had two years ago causing all my abdominal organs to swell. It was during this time that I was told I had kidney stones but there was nothing that could be done about it. A few days prior to this incident of back pain, I started getting an itchy sensation at the tip of my urethra.
Hello, Itchy skin can be a manifestation of eczema, psoriasis, internal diseases like liver and kidney disorders, diabetes, iron deficiency anemia, irritation and allergic reactions to chemicals, wool, soaps, cosmetics and certain foods. But these pins and needles sensations are different.
I have itchy skin all over my body accompanied by small bumps in some places, and big ones on others... The main areas are my armpits, forearms, knee-pits (yeah...), groin/upper thigh, and ankles. The itching is unbearable. There is no overly noticeable skin rash except for a few very small bumps at each site. I first thought, "okay great, I've got genital warts." But there are no bumps actually on my genitals, and they're all over the place.

For the past few years, I have had a problem with unbearable itchy skin. It occurs mostly on my arms and legs, but sometimes on my stomach as well. Recently I have even been getting small rashes on the tops of my hands; they manifest as small light red bumps, and usually last a few hours. The itchiness is worse after I shave, but even if I go for weeks without shaving, it still itches.
Or perhaps you have come in contact with a poison or have a bacterial or fungal infection. Other conditions cause itchy skin as well. i think the problem is spreading as now my other thigh is starting to show same symptoms and is itself itchy but not as bad as the left one. I think ive got a skin disease but darnt go to see the doctor. i had a similar issue on my left wrist although this has cleared up becuase i left it alone long enough. Im at my wits end, i itch in my sleep and it makes my wife unhappy with me moving around and fidgetting all the time.

Aside from allergies, this could also be due to irritation, infection, skin conditions and underlying medical conditions such as diabetes, liver or kidney problem. Allergic reactions usually respond to antihistamine and avoidance of the allergen or trigger. However, if it persists, you may need to have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation. Try also not to scratch to prevent secondary bacterial infection.Take care and do keep us posted.
Hi, How are you? A boil, also referred to as a skin abscess, is a localized infection deep in the skin. It starts as a reddened, tender area that becomes firm and hard. Eventually, the center of the abscess softens and becomes filled with pus. There are several different types of boils depending on the location: furuncle, carbuncle, cystic acne, hidradenitis suppurativa, or pilonidal cyst.

If you do have a stone, then that needs attention sooner than later as it can cause long term kidney damage. I cannot relate your scrotal itchiness/redness to anything other than a local skin problem: fungal infection, allergic reaction. Using any new soaps or chemicals/deodorants/creams, etc lately? I would get to a urologist as soon as the finances permit. S.A.Liroff, M.D. This information is provided for general medical educational purposes only.
Aside from insect bite and irritation ( from detergent and soap), this could be due to a variety of issues such as allergic reaction, infection, skin conditions and also from underlying medical conditions such as diabetes, anemia, liver or kidney problems. Over-the-counter antihistamine medications may help provide relief. If it persists, you may need to have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation.
Check for any rust, any distinct smell or discoloration of the water coming out from the shower. With regards to your kidney infection is this being managed well? I suggest you ask your primary physician for antihistamine medications and see if this may help prevent the itchiness.Do not take medications unless you have informed your physician about it. Antihistamines have side effects and they may cause drowsiness. The newer generation of antihistamines may be more beneficial.
hi, I suddenly had skin infection which could have been caused by bed buds but after alcohol disinfection and bed change, it seems to get better but still clear small pus everywhere and very itchy. I have to use rubbing alcohol to rub on my skin everyday and it seems to reduce the infection, but then now my other parts of bodies seem to be affected by same kinds of bacteria that caused clear pus (everywhere except my face and I has been scratching my skin so i left some scars).
Also swollen eyelids or face are sign of kidney disorder esp. in the morning hours. The renal disease (kidney) like nephrotic syndrome, glomerulonephritis, and renal failure can cause such symptoms. You need to undergo urine analysis, renal function tests and radio imaging of the kidneys to rule out the cause and should be treated promptly to prevent further complications. We cannot rule out the exact cause without examination.
I have similar sounding problem. Very itchy and dry looking skin round the eye area, including the bridge of my nose. One eye is worse than the other. I have tried vaseline, aloe vera gel, even steroid cream which the doc prescribed after diagnosing blepharitis. I don't think it's blepharitis as a lot of the symptoms don't match, eg I don't have crusty or sticky eyes in the morning any more than is normal. Have trawled the net and can't find anything other than an allergic problem.
Every now and again, one of my armpits will get itchy (usually the left, I think). If I give it a scratch, the internal area becomes sore, almost like I have torn a muscle. There is no rash, redness, broken skin, ingrown hairs etc, I don't sweat a huge amount and I can't really find a lump (especially not one that hurts). I don't think I've been lifting anything. When I lift / strech the arm up there is disomfort but I struggle to pinpoint exactly where in my armpit the pain is.
For the past 2 yrs i have had off and on a hot itchy feeling on my scrotum and no where else.I have to scratch till its raw and I have used prescription creams and powders and non irritating soaps to try and get rid of it .I also get about 2 to 3 scabs sometimes that i end up scratching off and they hurt. I also get an itchy feeling like it seems up my pee hole. Sometime at night i wake up and my scrotum feels very hot , I have to remove the blanket till it cools .
Hi Ma'am, How are you? The itching may be attributed to skin disorders, certain diseases, certain medications, dry skin, contact with irritants, fungal infection and the act of scratching can cause further itching. Systemic diseases that can cause itching include liver disease, kidney failure, lymphomas, leukemias and other blood disorders, and, occasionally, thyroid disease, diabetes, and cancer. Have this evaluated further to rule out conditions mentioned.
The skin was stretched, shiny and numb to the touch. There is no more swelling or pain but now the lower leg is severly itchy. The skin is pealing as if I had a sunbrun. Is this normal?
That is what triggered this to begin with and I don't see any reason that it would continue if it were a normal infection from piercing ears. (I haven't wore a single earring in over 6 years because of this issue.) Not to mention I've tried everything that has been suggested for new piercing with no luck. My ears will flare up fairly often. If I can go 3 days without a flare-up I am happy.
If you are having a horribly itchy scalp, itchy forehead, red bumps on scalp or face, dry skin, itchyface, "eczema" pimples on the scalp or most terribly the itchy scalp that will not go away that leads to hair loss; you have probably come in contact with a person who has one of these symptoms in their mouth or have touched an object after they have had their hands in or around their mouth. You may even be the carrier.
Bed bugs would present with dark red , tender to itchy spots. They may also be terribly itchy. Dust mites may also present with itchiness. Do you have any known allergies? Itchiness may also be a sign of an underlying disease condition such as liver or kidney disease. You have not mentioned of any associated symptoms in your post. This is likely to be an external trigger here as you have noted your father experiencing the same symptom also.
Hi, This could be allergic reactions to unknown substances, skin hypersensitivity, eczema, dermatitis . She should not scratch or pick at the lesions as this would cause secondary bacterial infection. Do you notice the lesions trigerred in response to a specific stimulus in the past? Try to avoid substances that she had shown allergic reactions to. Has she had allergic reactions in the past? Apply calamine lotion at the site and take some oral antihistamine medications for the symptoms.
