Hi, Recently I have been getting very itchy lips. They are not dry, swollen, *****, there are no bumps or scrapes or scabs. It is really confusing me and I dont know what is causing them. Sometimes I can feel a small lump on the inside of my bottom lip but I think that is just because the only way the itch is satisfied is by sort of biting them and scraping them with my teeth, so there is a little irritation inside of the lip. There are no itches anywhere else around my mouth, just my lips.

I have almost similar condition too once in a while. My lips woulds suddenly feel itchy and the area around the lipline would peel. My lips would also feels crusty and I could see peels of dried skin on certain part of my lips. Once it got so bad that my lips were actually swollen and red. I went to 2 dermatologist who prescribed antibiotic cream to me but it didn't work. In the end, I went to see a pharmacist who told me that it could be caused by dry weather. I took note of it.

My lips are itchy. It started with a slight dark patch on my upper lips. Now it has progressed to where my lips feel itchy around the edges. I have been applying Neosporin and hydrocortisone cream. Should I be doing something else?

I have been looking all over the internet for home based remedies for Eczematous Cheilitis or is what I think it is. I have really bad chapped lips and sometimes i can't open my mouth because it is so dry there is also a redness around the lips which is also dry and flaky and sometime itchy. By putting water on it lets me open my mouth fully but the starts to dry up again i don't use lip balm becase it give me a horrible burning sensation. Please please help me what should I do!!

Also any changes in fabrics or under wear being to tight can cause itchiness. If you shave that are it might become irritated and itchy. I guess it could be for a million different reasons. Anyway if it continues or appears to get worse I would let your doctor know. Congrats on the pregnancy!

Treatment depends on the specific cause. Steroids and antihistamines may be tried for small bumps on the lips caused due to certain allergies while antibiotics are prescribed for oral bacterial infection. Get it seen by a dermatologist. I sincerely hope it helps. Take care and regards!

Dear doctor, i'm 14this year, and few months ago, after i went tanning one day at the upper part of my lips it started to develop some itchy rash, that on the surface it looks cracked, few days later the thing slowly disappeared, but my lips started becoming very flaky, the skin from the lips will start to flake off and it itches and gives of a burning sensation which is painful. i've been having this too and i'm pretty sure it's an allergic reaction to something in one of my lip glosses. i use MAC lip gloss, but not all of them cause it - only certain colors so i'm guessing there's an ingredient used on SOME that i'm allergic to. i stop using the suspected color but i'm still getting the rash. i think it's because the lip gloss transferred to my chapstick at some point. lol! i'm going to buy a completely new chapstick and stop using that color and see what happens!

THe thing that's bothering me is something I don't ever remember having which started out on the corner of my mouth as an itchy red space that spread up my lip and is now finally covering the whole top lip and upper lip area, and some of the edge on the bottom lip. The reason I suspect that it is eczema is that it weeps when inflamed and flakes/ peels just like eczema. The redness and very slight swelling is there as well. It gets worse if I am around cats which I am allergic to.

i had white bumps on my lips and it was itchy my lip got swollen and the i went to the hospital they gave me this pill called clindamycin and i couldnt eat anything cause if i did i would throw it up and then 1-2 weeks it was gone no more swelling or bumps or puss just me and my normal self i havent had it in over a year so i have to say try clindamycin i hope it works for you good luck

When I stopped taking the pill it appeared to clear up, then 3 weeks later it suddenly flared up again. My lips become very swollen, the skin around the lips is deep red and if I don't keep them moisturised they dry out, crack and bleed. I also develop an acne-like rash on my cheeks and get white head spots around the edges of my lips. A couple of times the red part of my skin around my lips started leaking puss.
