Avatar m tn it can also affect your night vision. It can cause dryness of skin and increase the risk of skin scarring if you undergo cosmetic procedures to smooth your skin like waxing, laser, dermabrasion etc.Intake of alcohol while taking this medication may increase the risk of certain side effects like pancreatitis. There can be increased risk of bone problems, including an increased risk of broken bones. This drug must not be used during pregnancy or by those who may become pregnant during treatment.
Avatar f tn There was a male on this forum who said he developed sticky skin after cancer treatment. Isotretinoin is a retinoid, related to Vitamin A. Overdose of vit A has its own side effects. I am still in extensive research mode, so maybe investigate all this and see if you can relate to anything. Some also say its a mould infection.

Avatar n tn maintenance doses of oral isotretinoin in the range of 10-40 mg every other day or 0.05% isotretinoin gel is rarely indicated as a suppressive treatment for widespread disfiguring sebaceous hyperplasia. Oral isotretinoin should be prescribed by a physician who is experienced in oral retinoid therapy and only for patients without contraindications.

Avatar n tn There is also a person complaining about sticky skin after receiving cancer treatment. Isotretinoin is a retinoid related to vitamin A. I am investigationg all roots, to try find something in common with all these people experiencing sticky skin. There has to date 5 years current down the line and no MD or Dermatologist who can give me a proper diagnosis with proper treatment to assist or cure this. So I just do a lot of research hoping to find some simularity in all this.
Avatar f tn Hi, A daily oral intake of vitamin A derivative isotretinoin (marketed as Accutane) over a period of 4-6 months can cause long-term resolution or reduction of acne. It is believed that isotretinoin works primarily by reducing the secretion of oils from the glands, however some studies suggest that it affects other acne-related factors as well. Isotretinoin has been shown to be very effective in treating severe acne and can either improve or clear well over 80% of patients.
Avatar f tn I have just finished my 2nd course of Isotretinoin after being on 20 mg 5 days a week for just over a year. I thought my acne would finally be cured for life, or at least not covered in spots again, and now after being off it for about a month my skin is covered in Little whiteheads that will not go and has been like this for a few weeks, worst on my nose. This did not happen to my skin after I finished my 1st course, my flare up didn’t happen for about 4/5 months. Any help?
Avatar f tn I have a small, below the skin, small lump on the lower lip line where the line meets my skin. it's not noticable, but i can feel it with my tounge. i constantly pick at it until it becomes a sore. it heals in a few days and we are back where i started. i smoke but "occasionally" maybe a pack a week. i am a sun worshiper. is this a cyst or possibly lip cancer? Avatar m tn My dermatologist has prescribed me Isotretinoin (Accutane) around 20 mg. However i feel uneasy and very worried because i had read the following medical research papers where it tells the harmful side effects Isotretinoin has such as teratogenic and more importantly the cause of eye disorders, like impaired night vision, cataracts, optic neuritis, corneal opacities and dry eye. I had check in PubMed about this and i encountered the following http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10746459.
Avatar f tn I am a 25 year old female. I am on isotretinoin for acne. But recently my general physician prescribed vitamin B-complex supplements for other health problems. Is it safe to take vitamin B-Complex capsules with isotretinoin? I am not any other medication.
Avatar n tn Well I had one on my right lip on the border of my lip and skin, and it was pretty red and it was a white head. After a few days I got sick of it and popped it, and then washed my face and put some neosporin, so it wouldn't get infected, and now it's healing.
Avatar n tn alopecia , bruising, dry mouth, dry skin, flushing, fragility of skin, hair abnormalities, hyperpigmentation and hypopigmentation, pruritus, abnormal wound healing ( ref: http://www.rxlist.com/accutane-drug.htm). It would be best to inform your doctor about this for proper management. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn I have been using Isotretinoin since July 2021, and the cumulative dosage is about 100mg/kg. After I stopped using Isotretinoin, I found that my eyes were very dry, and it has been maintained for about a month and a half. I know that Isotretinoin can inhibit the secretion of body oil. I want to know whether the drug's inhibition of sebaceous glands is permanent? Will the secretion of oil recover slowly over time? Permanent dry eye is a disaster for me.
Avatar n tn If antibiotic creams or pills do not work, stronger medicines such as isotretinoin may be used. Surgery or other treatments may help your skin look better if you have advanced rosacea. Choices may include dermabrasion, cryosurgery, or laser treatment.Discuss which option is suited for you with your dermatologist. Take care and keep us posted.
309783 tn?1271958229 m not aware of this use of isotretinoin. I do know that the manufacturer does not recommend long-term, low-dose isotretinoin, and there is little or no scientific literature bearing on the subject of long-term low-dose use of this drug. You might consider a short course of isotretinoin, antibiotic treatment, or laser therapy. Best. Dr.
Avatar n tn Hi, for about the last year probably, I have had really wierd skin pigmentation problems. My hands and face are constantly really red, and the only relief for my hands is to hold them above my head for awhile, and that relieves it for a about a minute. My whole face is really red to, and stops at my neck. I do have acne, and have been on Accutane for about 4.5 months. I dont know if this may be the problem or what else?
