4274823 tn?1388529098 Thanks for the list. I avoid soy and flax due to a health issue. I do eat pumpkin seeds and walnuts as well as plenty of vegetables and fruit. Interesting about papaya. Ideally I would like to get it from food rather than have to purchase an expensive supplement that I don't feel 100% comfortable with.

1655526 tn?1330655629 m not a big fish eater, but I do eat it once in a while, probably is better to get the omega 3 that way and not to over do it.
Avatar f tn Both are essential fatty acids but you want more Omega 3 than Omega 6. Avoid processed seed and vegetable oils high in Omega-6 such as sunflower, corn, soybean and cottonseed oils. The types of omega-3s called DHA and EPA, have the strongest health benefits. The best food source of both DHA and EPA is cold water fatty fish such as salmon, sardines, mackeral, tuna. You can also take Omega 3 supplements.
Avatar f tn As we know, Omega-3 is supposed to be really important for the baby. But my doctor is not convinced that prenatal vitamins really help (who knows what's really in them, right?) and believes in going to the source for the nutrition I need. During my last visit, she turned me on to flax seed, which you can get in the natural foods stores. They're tiny seeds that have very little taste and can easily be put in almost any food.
518994 tn?1212242047 I read where Omega 3 was good for your dog. Is it a different Omega 3 or is it the same that humans take?

862235 tn?1336060295 For this increase dietary intake of fiber rich foods like oat bran will help. Diet should be rich in antioxidant vitamins found primarily in fruits and vegetables. Take plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Avoid red meats, dairy products and oily food. Substitute your oil for ones which have a high content of unsaturated fats. Omega fatty acids are heart healthy and rich in antioxidants. Consult a nutritionist for a diet plan. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn You should have an evaluation with an ophthalmologist to see exactly what you have and to discuss which treatment is best for you. In general, for dry AMD, there is little that can be done to improve the situation and patients are given strong anti-oxidants and lutein and omega 3 fish oil to slow the progression - which is VERY IMPORANT. For wet AMD, avastin and lucentis injections are incredibly effective at slowing down the disease and even reversing things for some patients.
720228 tn?1530911279 How much omega 3, 6, 9? just had my cholestrol checked and it was 255. I am also starting prevastation. I know that you can not be pregnant while on this medication but if you happen to become pregnant while taking it I know to stop it immediately. What if any are the risks of taking this medication during the first two to three weeks of pregnancy since it takes that long to find out that you are pregnant?
Avatar n tn collard greens, kale ( I recommend washing them then freezing) spinach, carrot, a piece of ginger root, whatever fruit you have on hand, I use frozen because its cheaper and more convenient. Then I put in a scoop of ground flax seed, full of omega 3 fatty acids which are awesome for your heart and ***** the fat out of your body. Then for liquid I use 100% juice and soy milk. Not that Silk crap. I mean good soy milk.
Avatar f tn m open to new info if you have it. What is true is that the Omega 3 in flax seed oil is different from that in fish oil, and flax seed oil contains more than just omega 3 oils, whereas most fish oil is artificially purified to eliminate many other beneficial oils that would also be a fish.
Avatar n tn But hemp seeds and flax seeds, while containing some Omega 6 fats, contain high amounts of Omega 3 fats, which are essential for health. Some Omega 6 is also essential for health, as is Omega 9 and other fats.
Avatar n tn Research has shown that it is the quality of fat that makes the difference in lowering cholesterol, not an overall lowering of all fats. It is recommended that all Trans fats and saturated fats are not consumed, but omega-3 fatty acids and monounsaturated fats can be eaten. To break that down simply it means nuts, seeds, and peanut/olive oils can be eaten. Suggest having them eat a moderate fat diet to help lower their cholesterol.
