All of you ladies saying smoking could be harmful to the baby are basing that on what you've heard about smoking cigarettes. Its not the same thing. Weed isn't harmful which is why it DOES get prescribed and suddenly stopping wouldn't put stress on the baby because it isn't addictive. My boyfriend's mom was prescribed weed for stress when she was pregnant with him and he is literally THE smartest person I know. He got almost a perfect score on his SAT test and scored in the 150's on his IQ test.
Now don't overreact and take this as a great chance to find out all about it together. Make sure you can hand him facts as reasons not to smoke- its bad for your lungs, its illegal, it hurts your ability to focus and remember, so really bad for school- etc. Go do some searches for reputable sites and learn together. My trials with weed appeared to cause extremely fast heart rate... my wife(who had not been smoking) was unable to tell a difference from my usual rate. To me, though, I was going to die. It was all mental, and I become very paranoid when I smoke pot. While I don't agree with smoking pot, now that I am older, I'm not going to crucify the plant. More often then not, it's probably a mental reaction due to preexisting anxieties. That's been my experience.
So many like minded forum members out there! I love it. So international too! For those worried about smoking, baking/cooking with pot is an alternantive. Injested weed is especially effective before bed as a sleeping aid.
While I don’t have the particulars to your study, by guess is that if they find you’re smoking pot, it’ll be a deal breaker. You should have copies of study documents; read through them carefully, and consider the implications. There is a pretty large body of evidence from controlled scholarly studies that suggests heavy marijuana use increases hepatic fibrosis, too. What is disputed is the definition of ‘heavy’; would a puff or two now and then cause harm?
He died from complications of cirrhosis. Sad thing was that he had a prescription for weed. Here's a link to an interesting article that discusses the issue: http://www.informationliberation.com/?id=25173 All of the Gastroenterologists and Hepatologists I have seen here have lectured me about the harms of pot smoking. It looks like there is considerable variation on how the issue is handled.
I since quit smoking for about 2 years and last year resumed smoking but only about 4 cigs a day. So yesterday this doctor (whos office is in NYU Medical Center) in NYC performs a complete PFT with EKG, Spirometry, and chest x-rays. My spirometry was normal, I was shocked. When I questioned him about my fev1 he said I was at 98% :) My chest X-rays were also normal as well as EKG. Doc said I most certainly do not have COPD.

WOW!!!! OK....Berlynn. YOU now have the record for the longest post in the history of this Forum! My finger got tired just holding down the scroll button to get to the bottom of that one! I have absolutely no clue if smoking the "Evil Weed" can harm the tx "stew" or not. To my knowledge there have been no real tests to see what the effect of THC is to the effectiveness of the meds we do on tx. I do believe it can help with the side effects....but at what cost?
I don't know a thing about the facts behind this thread, so nothing to add. I do want to tell Rivil I'm jealous she was in the hot sun....I WANT HOT SUN!! A few weeks into our cold weather months, and I'm already sick of it. So I'm going to have a temper tantrum!!!!! ha. NG, sometimes it does seem like there are more anti R posts then anti D. Right now that does seem to be the case. Then it sorta shifts and all the anti D posts start...
Switched from Ritalin to Adderall about 4 months ago, started on 20mg XR. I stopped noticing the effects of it, and told my psychiatrist, and she gave me a scrip for 10mg IR to take with the XR. Then about a month ago I mentioned that I've been getting distracted easily at school, so now I'm on 30mg XR/10mg IR everyday. For the record, I'm 6'1"/220 lbs, a pretty big guy... I only say that cause I know body weight has alot to do with med dosages.
and then there's the FDA lying about the facts. . . Federal Drug Agency Denies Marijuana Is Less Toxic Than Alcohol The National Institute on Drug Abuse released an eyebrow-raising statement to PolitiFact on Monday, denying that marijuana is less toxic than alcohol. "Claiming that marijuana is less toxic than alcohol cannot be substantiated since each possess their own unique set of risks and consequences for a given individual," wrote the institute.
Maybe you 2 can have some sober outings. I am glad you have someone you can talk to like that.
Mine did not forbid it, and I did have about 6 drinks in the 18 months I was on tx, but 7 drinks a week seems excessive. I took a drink or 2 last Xmas and Thanksgiving, some on Mother's day, etc. Many here believe that any drinking equates to alcohol abuse, they feel there is a drinking problem if you don't abstain 100% during the Tx. I don;t believe this is true, but I still think weekly drinking is not advisable, during tx. Some studies show that alcohol abuse hinders SVR.
My hope has been the Prove 2 data that geno 1s receiving VX950+RBV+INF for 12 weeks followed by 12 weeks SOC and experienced RVR....the odds are quite high. Does anyone have information about what the unfavorable data was for Prove 2? anonymice...thanks for the post.

then I started to have panic attacks and felt depressed at about 4 pm-6 pm every day. I'd get anxiety about social gatherings etc. Now, for the past 3-4 days I can't fall asleep, I have horrible dreams about doctors forcing narcotics on me, I wake up in the middle of the night, and I cried all day long yesterday. I feel full blown depression coming on. I've never been depressed, I mean truly depressed in my life. I'm not trying to scare you at all....
Listen, You need to do what you need to do to get clean. If smoking a little weed here & there will keep you from snorting a pill... by all means hit it. Again, I myself did it with nothing to help with the symptoms so I know how you're feeling right now. Helplessness is a very common emotion while getting clean. Do not give in at this point though. If you take just one little oxy, you've just jumped right back where you were & eventually will have to start all over again.
very interesting about the swabbing of the tongue -- I have not heard that but it makes sense... I'm sure that would have to be an optional test for a patient as the "addict" tag would not be a receptive thing to many people, it would be interesting to see how that test would be matriculated into the medical field -- maybe HIPPA laws would give it a better chance.. interesting none the less.. Either way I already know that I do not need to take it..LOL Thanks for the info...
