Common Questions and Answers about Index finger ulnar deviation

finger

Avatar n tn I can not move my hand in the ulnar deviation direction. my hand is compltly stiff at the joint between my wrist on the ulnar side and the back of my palm. I am only 22 and male, so this upsets me greatly because i can't lift weights any more, or do other things.
Avatar f tn I have a middle finger that twitches and my right hand had action tremors , what can be going wrong and a warm painful sensation in the hand and finger
Avatar f tn My wife has been to 3 hand specialists, 2 EMGs, x ray, MRI and nerve entrapment surgery. She has loss movement in her index finger, middle finger and the ring finger. It’s been 1yr+ and continues to get worse. The EMG says no chance of nerve recovery. But not sure why it is getting worse and no one can identify a root cause. No sudden injury or anything. Should she see a different specialists outside a hand one? Anyone have ideas?
Avatar m tn Burning sensation (continues for hours when triggered, very painful) 2 cm above head of ulnar bone on right hand triggered by radial deviation. Ulnar deviation relieves the burning sensation. Only 24 and want my life back to normal again. Please help and much appreciated :) Surgeon appointment in 2 months but would like an idea of what may be happening before then!
Avatar f tn Although just now I have a sharp pain going from his time my thumb and index not little finger as first thought in past weeks straight up my left fore arm. Also does anyone know could your period make things worse? As for maybe last 2 weeks or so uncomfortable pains has eased off abit. So what is this without bothering the doctor?
Avatar f tn My ring finger and pinky are curled in so that they touch the palm of my hand, and there is significant ulnar deviation at my wrist. After the treatment, the fingers open slightly, my wrist straightens out a bit, and the pain is reduced (but not much). I do range of motion work at home, but as soon as I move my elbow, my fingers and wrist return to the abnormal position and sometimes start twitching.
Avatar n tn I also notice the same numbness whenenever I ride my bike after 20 minutes or so. There also is a rash (?) on my index finger than resembles eczema on the backside of the finger and just dry dead skin on the side and palmside of the finger. What could be causing this? What should I do? I do not experience the same numbness with my left hand at all!!
Avatar n tn If the numbness you describe is occurring in the pinky and ring finger, a similar type of condition you may be experiencing is The numbness/tingling in the pinky finger your husband is experiencing is ulnar nerve entrapment. As the ulnar nerve travels down the arm, there are a few areas in particular that it can become entrapped. One common place for this to happen is at the elbow and when this occurs, a "cubital tunnel syndrome" may result. As the nerve travels towards the hand.
Avatar n tn Also, carpal tunnel tingles certain fingers and ulnar nerve tingles others..ie thumb and index finger vs. pinky and ring finger. Had a cortisone shot in my wrist which fixed my problem, only after a EMG nerve study was done to diagnose. Good luck and let me know what you find out.
1090905 tn?1256855303 t really make a fist or hold a glass. (Index finger is fine??) And NOw in the last hour or so the left Index and Middle fingers are going the same way...that arm has had the Ulnar Nerve transposed 8 yrs ago ... I have had a wonky neck due to the whole recovery process from the brain tumor-took several years to just get to 85% on the right side of my body, I came of of surgery with no use of the right side of my body but DID NOT have a stoke. Just the location of the tumor....
772218 tn?1249131067 If it is carpel then the pain should be in the thumb, index finger and middle finger area of your hand. If it is the outside two fingers of your hand then it would suggest the ulnar nerve. Considering you experience it in arm, feet, legs; I would suggest talking to your doctor and let them lead you in the right direction for testing and diagnosis.
Avatar n tn I have a pain that begins a few inches above my elbow( I think it might be the lower, inner part of my tricep) and shoots down into my index finger. The pain in my finger is like needles. Its been about 2 days now. Any ideas on what it might be? thanks, M This discussion is related to Shooting pain in arm.
Avatar f tn Other than this, pain on radial deviation can be due to injury to scapholunate ligament, and pain on ulnar deviation can also be caused by injury to the lunotriquetral ligament. An injured TFCC and other ligaments can be managed by rest and anti-inflammatory and/or pain medications. The wrist can be stabilized by wrist supports, splints, casts or by surgery. If this is not treated in time, it can worsen the pain and de-stabilize the wrist. Do consult your doctor for proper management.
Avatar m tn The pain comes in various forms. Here is a list of where it occurs most and at what intensity from most often and intense to least often and least intense: In the middle of my wrist on the underside of my arm; at the wrist on the pinky-finger side; a bit below where the "connection" is from the forearm to the hand on the thumb side.
Avatar m tn I have muscle wastage between thump and index finger, above little finger on the edge of the hand and wastage between between the fingers on the back of the hand. I believe the muscle wastage is a classic symptom of a defective unla nerve. Some 30 years later I have had a pension review because they believe the nerve could have grown back and now doubt my statement that things have actually got worse.
Avatar n tn Carpal tunnel syndrome is due to median nerve compression at wrist as a result tingling is felt at thumb, index and middle finger whereas ulnar nerve compression at elbow causes tingling in little and ring finger. Best will be to rule out cervical spondylosis by getting MRI done. Pain killers, physiotherapy along with hot compressions is usually done for cervical nerve compression.
Avatar n tn forearm and hand), including the pinky and ring finger. Ulnar neuropathy is a type of irritation of the ulnar nerve.. Ulnar neuropathy causes numbness, tingling, or pain into the arm and hand on the side of the little finger. This is sometimes called "handlebar palsy", because it frequently happens in bicyclists who sustain repeated shocks and bouncing that can occur while holding the handlebars when riding.
Avatar n tn I also noticed ulnar deviation is weak on that wrist.. could that be linked to pain in push ups or is that unlikely? Thanks for any advice!
Avatar f tn Once in a while the burning pain does spread further across the palm below index and middle finger but not as often compared to below little and ring finger. Gripping objects, bending my fingers or typing increases the burning sensation in the palm.. My back, neck, shoulder, upper arm is not painful, no problems in these areas. I did go back to see the surgeon for a follow up, mentioned injury. They waited it out and told me to come back in 4 weeks.
Avatar n tn Hypothyroidism, diabetes, tumors and infections of the ulnar and spinal nerves and rheumatism can all cause numbness, pins and tingling of little and ring finger. If other finger tips are also getting involved then it is generally due to nerve compression or a nerve disorder. Depending on which finger it is, it can be carpel tunnel syndrome, compression of ulnar nerve, compression of radial nerve. Diabetes or hypothyroidism too can be the cause.
Avatar n tn “Compression at the elbow, known as cubital tunnel syndrome, causes numbness in the small finger, half of the ring finger, and the back half of the hand over the small finger”. Please consult doctor for nerve conduction studies, for more information visit http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar m tn m not trying to blame the surgeon that performed the shoulder surgery for the ulnar nerve issue. I just want to get more opinions as to the ulnar nerve/finger issue. Thanks again.
Avatar m tn The median nerve can get compressed in the wrist leading to carpal tunnel syndrome, where in the index finger, the thumb and the middle finger can be affected. The ulnar nerve at the elbow could be causing the radiating pain to the elbow and wrist. Nerve conduction Studies will help to detect lesions in the nerves. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Usually when the pinky and ring finger are numb it is in fact the Ulnar Nerve that is damaged or entrapped. This is called Cubital Tunnel Syndrome. You will have to wait until your doctor reviews your EMG and see what he or she suggests. Depending on what the numbers were in certain locations you may be prescribed physical therapy or surgery to have the Ulnar Nerve relocated. The surgery usually will be your only option if the fingers start to curl in to the palm of the hand.
Avatar n tn what are you asking? it could be your ulnar nerve that is what controls your ring and little finger upper arm could be bracial plexus it is the nerve group that controls the whole arm.
