Business man2 mineral tablet (“A to Z” brand), - 1 raspberry keytone (sold by Walgreens), - 2 fish oil soft gels 1200mg (Walgreens brand) , - 2 ibuprofen (200mg each) usually, OR 2 acetaminophen (500mg each), OR 2 naproxen sodium (220mg each), OR 1 Rx meloxicam 15mg. (Pain killer taken for residual pain from knee being “scoped” 1/20/12) What is the doctor’s opinion?
Avatar n tn The most common anti-inflammatories (NSAIDS - Non-Steroidal Anti-INflammatory) are Motrin (Generic = Ibuprofen) or Aleve (Generic = Naproxen or Naproxen Sodium). I agree - use only one of these. If you use Aleve be careful if you are on Neurontin because is a small amount of cases Aleve will interact with Neurontin and cause a 12 - 15% increase in the absorption of the Neurontin (I know this from first hand experience).
Avatar f tn Any aceptamophin medicine is safe but dont take naproxen sodium.
Avatar m tn s main ingredient Naproxen sodium is for the relief of inflammation, pain and stiffness. It is commonly taken by persons with arthritis. If you have arthritis you should see a doctor. Good luck!
Avatar m tn NO THEY DON'T but Tylenol hurts livers & ibuprofen started screwing with my kidneys. Opioids, however, do much less damage to many more organs.
Avatar f tn I have Crohns Disease, I have read that NSAIDS are not a good thing to take. I'm having issues with my GI doctor. I have been trying to manage my symptoms of pain(sharp and throbbing) in my lower right and left side of the abdominal area. I asked my GI what to take and he said tylenol. I also asked if I could also take ibuprofen and naproxen sodium because tylenol isn't working well and he said yes, just not at once. This doesn't seem right. Am I wrong in this assumption?
Avatar n tn I was recently diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and prescribed Plaquenil and naproxen (for swelling and pain relief.) I am on a low sodium diet for meniere's disease. Various pain relievers make me retain fluid......making me too dizzy and light headed to drive. Can you recommend a product, OTC or prescription, that contains little to no sodium? I have read the sodium in pain relievers help to quicken relief of pain......
603946 tn?1333941839 NSAIDs reduce the effectiveness of platelets, so ibuprofen, aspirin, and naproxen are out. But acetaminophen has no effect on platelets, so I wonder why the warning?
Avatar f tn Can Ibuprofen cause dizziness, ear pain, stuffiness, and feelings of passing out if taken several times a week?
418155 tn?1205409893 yey....it is good stuff and safer than celebrex....I take naproxen sodium which is very similar....my son hurt his knee and had fluid on it...he took it for a week and applied ice and it healed up.....I like it because for me I can take as needed instead of everyday...most have to build up in your system and can not be used on a prn basis...
Avatar f tn I also would rotate my pain meds-take 1000mg of Tylenol and then 2-3 hours later take ibuprofen or naproxen sodium...take Tylenol again 6 hours after the first dose... Effexor XR helped my sleep (and honeslty good sleep helps more than ANYTHING) and I had more energy (heh, I could get out of bed most days LOL). My pain was caused mostly by horrible muscle spasms and Skelaxin helped with that.
Avatar f tn I have always used products that contain codeine for my migraines such as paracetamol/codeine, ibuprofen/codeine, paracetamol/doxylamine/codeine etc. Do other people use these types of meds? Why do you use them? Is it because you find they work better than meds without codeine? Advertising on the pack/tv? Advice from health professional/friend? Thanks!
Avatar n tn Actually, Motrin(ibuprofen), Alleve(Naproxen Sodium), and Tylenol(acetominophen) are VERY deadly to cats. They can cause kidney failure, liver failure, and other life threatening issues. Take a look at some of these drugs through Google search, and you'll see for yourself. I seriously hope that you haven't already given your cat these drugs!! All of that yowling you're hearing is because she's a little horn toad right now. It's not pain at all!
Avatar m tn whenever i take even one 550mg (naproxen) ibuprofen and then drink, my stomach gets tender and bloated and i feel bad. i usually take a maalox or something like that, yet i never throw up from it so i don't know if that's applicable for you. i think it is due to the ibuprofen, but if you're not used to eating spicy foods then it could have disagreed with you, not necessarily meaning food poisoning. you should never drink and take NSAIDs at the same time.

Avatar f tn It should say somewhere on the bottle to not exceed X number of tablets per day. I agree! Alec's is amazing! Naproxen sodium is an anti inflammatory and I feel it works much better for like body pain than Advil. But I feel Advil does better for headaches.
1148241 tn?1294052796 I recently quit taking Vicodin for my joint pain because I was concerned about liver damage. I have been taking Ibuprofen instead. I've been taking two in the morning and then two in the afternoon. It says don't take longer than 10 days though. I have to take something though. My knees and wrists and fingers hurt too much if I don't. I know you guys aren't Drs but experience counts for something if its what your Dr has told you. What do you guys take?
Avatar n tn I don't usually get better with ibuprofen either. Try Aleve (naproxen) because it's stronger. That usually takes the edge off. At least it's something to try until you can get in to see the doctor. My doctor prescribed 550mg naproxen which is like taking 2 Aleve.
Avatar f tn Hi, One of the most common causes of elevated liver enzymes is medications. Over-the-counter meds like Ibuprofen,Tylenol, Naproxen Sodium and also some common antibiotics can cause elevated liver enzymes. Statins taken for cholesterol often cause elevated liver enzymes. This list is from the Mayo Clinic:’ http://www.mayoclinic.
Avatar f tn Naproxen is just ibuprofen, which is Motrin and Aleve. I would think Celebrex would help a lot more than Naproxen. It can't hurt to ask for it. Naproxen didn't do anything for me, except hurt my stomach. The Celebrex helped a lot, right away.
Avatar n tn I found that naproxen sodium, over the counter, helped a lot. It turned out to be my gallbladder after years of suffering.
Avatar f tn Use a spray bottle of water and blot with a clean cloth to clean the area (and do keep it clean, spray and blot every time you use the bathroom). Take an anti-inflammatory for the pain (ibuprofen, naproxen sodium). Inflammation (swelling) is a normal part of healing and should go away in a few days. If the swelling doesn't go away or you get a discharge from the cut area, see your health care provider again.
Avatar f tn He has been taking Lisinopril for high blood pressure a little over a year. He has been taking Naproxen for arthritis for several years. We have not been able to isolate a trigger for the Afib other than his controlled blood pressure. Now I am reading that a side effect of Naproxen use is high blood pressure. Has any one else encountered this?
Avatar f tn So unless your healthcare provider prescribes it, you should avoid taking aspirin altogether, as well as other NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), such as ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), naproxen sodium (Aleve), and ketoprofen (Orudis), which can have similar effects. Check the labels of all over-the-counter drugs to make sure they don't contain aspirin or other NSAIDs. Better yet, check with your caregiver or pharmacist.
