508106 tn?1269959199 Mefenamic acid is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug used to treat pain, including menstrual pain. It is typically prescribed for oral administration. Mefenamic acid decreases inflammation (swelling) and uterine contractions by a still unknown mechanism. However it is thought to be related to the inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis. Since hepatic metabolism plays a significant role in mefenamic acid elimination, patients with known liver deficiency may be prescribed lower doses.

Avatar n tn I have had my periods since I was ten (im 21) and they've almost always been associated with pain. i've been prescribed painkillers (mefenamic acid) by my gynac which makes it bearable although i cant exactly go on with my daily routines, i just pretty much sit at home n move about very little. over the years i've gone through 4 or 5 different painkillers and by now they dont work that well even after stepping up the dose to 500mg.
Avatar f tn I'm 17 years old I've had my period since I was about twelve I've never really had problems with pain it only hurt for like 20 minutes and the pain was tolerable but in the past two months the pain was unbearable I couldn't even stand straight I tried hot baths and mefenamic acid but it didn't really help what should I do to make it stop?
Avatar n tn Other signs may include changes in skin color of the face, very fast but irregular heartbeat , hive-like swellings on the skin and puffiness. Do not take any more mefenamic acid until you speak to your doctor. You should consult your doctor who may prescribe you antihistamines for symptom relief.

Avatar n tn And now after 2 weeks, there is still intermittent pain in my right molar extending to my lower jaw that i have to take mefenamic acid to relieve from pain... How can i determine if i am recovering? or candidate for root canal? and am i right to say that i've been to a very traumatic experience (299 units at the same time)that it would take a little longer for recovery than the normal waiting time of 6 weeks? Thanks.
Avatar f tn Hi. I'm just wondering if anybody here have experienced this like me. Just last Sept. 14 my ENT informed me that I had ear infections he prescribed me with ear drops and some antibiotics(good for 1 week 2x a day) and pain reliever(I just had one for the entire week). When I went back to him after 6 days, I was cleared. So happy. But then after that I started to have toothache after that.
Avatar f tn m a 38 year old female and for the last few months have been having some strange symptoms. My left shoulder aches, I have a terrible bloated/acid feeling in my stomach and a feeling that something just isn't right. A couple of weeks ago I went for a stress test (treadmill), echocardiogram as well as had a holter monitor for 24 hours. Everything came back normal and the cardiologist I met with said my heart is fine. Could something have been missed?
Avatar n tn i have been taking ibuprofen for about 2yrs i want to stop how long will it take for my body to be clear of them
Avatar m tn It can take a few days for the symptoms to really clear up - up to a week or so. And are you sure this is gonorrhea? Were you tested? Keflex is not needed here - just the doxy, unless they found something else. I hope you start using condoms.
Avatar n tn Sunscreen, even suncblock or vitamin d boosts have not helped, could you please tell me how to fight it? I also heard that creams and some medicine (i take mefenamic acid for pain relief) may be the cause of it, what can i do?
Avatar n tn Not really any difference. Vicoprofen has Ibuprofen with the Hydrocodone. Vicodin has Tylenol. Strength would be the same if they both were the same dose.
Avatar f tn I get the same thing - told by doc that is was GERD and IBS - which is so general, I don't believe. I belief it is LOW acid in the stomach - so low it can't digest foods. The stomach is naturally acidic which is how it breaks down food. What I have done since is take a half shot of true apple cider vinegar 5 mins. before eating each normal meal. breakfast, lunch dinner - and eat a little less at each serving - let your stomach adjust to digesting food properly.
Avatar f tn I was given 4000ml of fluid through iv drip, i had lost around 1500ml of blood. I was given tranexamic acid tablets and northisterone to help stop the bleed. I had a scan AFTER i had hemorrhaged and i was told i had cysts on both ovaries and had a thick lining of the uterus. I was sent home 2 days later with the medication and iron tablets as my blood pressure was stabilising but im still very anemic....... I am not due to go back for a check up for another 3 weeks!
Avatar n tn i am to take 2 tramadol twice daily or as needed along with 800 mg ibuprofen twice daily. i have not found any resolve with this medication (i have been on it 2 weeks). i also have not had any typical withdrawl symptoms from stopping the vicodin. i have degeneration of my t3 and t4 vertebre and spinal rotation and of course subluxation. i have had 2 diagnosises and both times the prognosis was long term chronic pain. i have blood work done every 3 mths and it has always been normal.
Avatar f tn I was hoping you could tell me if my symptoms sound like endo because my GP just keeps giving me ponstan ( mefenamic acid) to cope with what he calls gyny pain. At various times of the month, not just during ovulation I get awful pains in the area of my ovaries, mostly located on the right hand side. The pain can be stabbing on and off OR can be relentless and there all the time. I also have low back pain and hip pain.
Avatar f tn This time the pain has not gone away even after taking declofenac 50mg or 2 mefenamic acid capsules. It is there all the time even when resing. Please help. I am desperate.
