3122657 tn?1357432602 Hi all so far 3 months into treatment i was pretty much sailing through it but not by body is hurting my back my legs just everything i ran out of Acetaminophen and want to know if anyone here knows if i can take Ibuprofen for the aches i am undetectable at week 4 no liver damage if someone could help me out with this Thanks Much love Karen
Avatar f tn If you are taking one pill, 3X per day, then start by trying to take 1/2 pill vs a whole one - essentially see if you can cut your dose in half. You may feel a little withdrawal, but it should not be too bad. Try the half dose for two - three days, then cut that down by 1/4 - 1/2. Also, take your doses further apart in time. Get to the point where you are only taking 1/2 - 1 pill per day total, then quit altogether.
Avatar f tn I have been battling a cold for 2 weeks. i just found out in 6 weeks pregnant. i took Nyquil, extra streng Tylenol, ibuprofen and advil p.m. im concern about the side effects. i haven't gone to my first appt yet so i haven't had the chance to ask the dr. any one in the same boat?
1148241 tn?1294052796 I recently quit taking Vicodin for my joint pain because I was concerned about liver damage. I have been taking Ibuprofen instead. I've been taking two in the morning and then two in the afternoon. It says don't take longer than 10 days though. I have to take something though. My knees and wrists and fingers hurt too much if I don't. I know you guys aren't Drs but experience counts for something if its what your Dr has told you. What do you guys take?
Avatar f tn I just purchased 200 mg ibuprofen/12.8 mg codeine (package of 96) online from a drugstore. It said it was an over the counter drug and I want to make sure I'm not doing anything illegal. Does anyone know if this is okay to purchase online? I live in Florida and sure don't want to end up in trouble over something so minor. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!!
Avatar n tn You should really talk to your doctor as everyone is different. OTC ibuprofen generally says you can take 200 mg. every 6 to 8 hours. Your doctor may say it's okay to take more. At one time, I got a prescription for ibuprofen (which cost me less than buying it OTC.) My prescription was for 800 mg.ever 4 hours. But you have to make sure to protect your stomach.
Avatar f tn Tylenol is not mentioned on the insert, cold meds (other than cough suppressant, which is specifically contraindicated on the patient insert), Ibuprofen (says, "additional monitoring may be needed"??) etc. I asked the pharmacist who gave me a ho-hum non-committal answer like "I can't think of anything that interacts OTC... " and was less than satisfied.
Avatar m tn At the time I was also taking Ibuprofen and the symptoms had started before I started taking either (caused by some food-born illness I think), though the symptoms continued for months so I don't really know if the Ibuprofen or Omeprazole could have contributed to them. I was wondering if the Omeprazole could be causing my current symptoms. Can it cause other symptoms of indigestion despite reducing acid?
Avatar m tn Here our pharmacy look over all rx meds for interactions. And for OTC always ask. And if you buy OTC at drugstore ask if they know or look it up online several sources. Or call pharmacy when in doubt.
1326947 tn?1277294765 I'm sorry you are having such bad headaches. I've had a few, but 2 Ibuprofen always take care of them. What part of your head is hurting? When I have them in my face and eyes... you know where it feels like your eyes and teeth have so much pressure that they are going to pop out... I've discovered that that is sinuses, and then I add antihistamine to the Ibuprofen, because Ibuprofen alone can't deal with that. My personal favorite is Actifed.
Avatar n tn Correct. Ibuprofen or Naproxen, but not both. One or the other. I find Naproxen the most helpful, as it works more quickly. Aleve is a brand name for OTC Naproxen. Tyelenol is in a different category. Non Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDS) are the ones you want to treat inflammation. Aspirin is also in this class. Again, only use one form of these and not all of them.
Avatar n tn Not really any difference. Vicoprofen has Ibuprofen with the Hydrocodone. Vicodin has Tylenol. Strength would be the same if they both were the same dose.
Avatar f tn Hi there, I don't take Lexapro so I unfortunately can't answer your question... but, I did noticed you mentioned that over the counter tylenol and advil is doing nothing to help the headaches you are experiencing as a side-effect of your medication. I just want to make sure that since the over-the-counter pain killer is not helping that you are not continuing to take it.
Avatar n tn I have a lot of back / spine issues. I take some pretty heavy medication, but as far as OTC meds go, I find Liquid Gel Advil helps me the most. A couple of things to keep in mind: Ibuprofen can damage your kidneys and acetaminophen (Tylenol) can damage your liver. Prescription meds like hydrocodone have acetaminophen in them. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Hi! Even OTC meds can be dangerous in high doses. Can you be more specific as to what you're taking?
1230912 tn?1273492770 The script is for 500mg and I looked it up yesterday to see that it was just Aleve in presciption form which is why I am dumbfounded since I was on 800mg of ibuprofen. I do have better luck with presciption drugs compared to OTC because Advil does nothing compared to my precription ibuprofen. I just wish we could have started on the preventatives instead of the anti-inflammatory which we know does nothing. Plus the traMadol which I am already on, duh!
Avatar f tn A few OTC things that have worked for many people are melatonin, valerian root, and Benadryl. Some OTC aids are just Benadryl but marketed differently. Chamomile tea can also help relax you.
Avatar n tn i am to take 2 tramadol twice daily or as needed along with 800 mg ibuprofen twice daily. i have not found any resolve with this medication (i have been on it 2 weeks). i also have not had any typical withdrawl symptoms from stopping the vicodin. i have degeneration of my t3 and t4 vertebre and spinal rotation and of course subluxation. i have had 2 diagnosises and both times the prognosis was long term chronic pain. i have blood work done every 3 mths and it has always been normal.
Avatar m tn s a connective tissue problem that is not inside the skull. He suggested ice pack on to my head and take OTC ibuprofen. I took another 600mg ibuprofen, did nothing. Ice pack on my head just made me cold.
