glucose

Avatar f tn I falied both my 1 and 3 hour test :( both times my glucose levels were high. So I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Are u scheduled for the 3 hour one?
Avatar f tn Proper nutrition [diet] combined with weight loss and daily exercise helps to improve not mess up glucose [blood sugar] levels. What makes you believe they will mess up your levels?
Avatar f tn t do anything but tell me to lose weight. How high does your BS need to be to go on the pills for lowering it? I get many of the diabetes symptoms (frequent urination, itching, etc) & my dr. says you don't get symptoms until your blood sugar runs in the 300's. Is it possible he is wrong & I should be on a pill?
Avatar n tn So the first thing I would suggest is for you and your husband to focus foremost on working with his doctor to try to achieve normal glucose levels and to keep them. He should discuss this very personal problem with his doctor, who may be able to help him the best. I am not aware of any supplements that will address the root cause of the problem. Treating the symptom (impotence) is probably not the answer, for the real problem is high glucose levels.
Avatar f tn which should bring my glucose up to about 80 - 90, it will skyrocket to 200+. Is there a way to stop this from happening and just have my low go to a normal range?
Avatar n tn hi! You sound like you are doing everything you are supposed to do, except relax! I was 31 when my husband and I started to try to get pregnant. My doctors-endocronologist and ob-gyn both told me to get as healthy as possible. I ate right, watched my numbers, quit smoking(yes, I too had bad habits and my blood sugars were not always so good)and lost 10 pounds. I took pre-natal vitamins too. My ob-gyn told me it could take up to 2 years to get pregnant. It didn't.
1423357 tn?1511085442 Equal contains Dextrose, commonly called glucose, d-glucose, or blood sugar. Dextrose is made up of high carbohydrates which is known to raise glucose levels. Equal also contains Maltodextrin, which is made from cornstarch. It is a simple carbohydrate that is quickly absorbed into the bloodstream, thus raising your glucose level. You might try switching to Splenda which is made from sugar but does effect nor raise your glucose levels. 4. Black tea has caffeine.
Avatar m tn I did what you were doing, I kept monitoring my BG to see which foods were bringing my Blood Sugar up. It actually took me 6 months to get my #s down. I am not on any medications at this time. I was 112 pounds and now I am about 95 or so pounds. What type of foods are you eating? Are you on medication to control your blood sugar?
Avatar m tn I had a full blood check up last week and my glucose levels came back as high for a morning reading at 9.2. I had some more tests today including a fasting test and a hba something or other. My question is soe this now mean i have diabetes. I am very much a night person regularly up til 4 in the morning and eating and drinking before i go to bed. I am white, not over weight and have no family history.
Avatar m tn Kindly enlighten on this subject, since iam more confused with the physicians statement and iam in a dialemma whether i should continue monitoring my glucose levels from time to time apart from the laboratory tests done periodically.
Avatar f tn For starters, changing lifestyle habits can go a long way in controlling type 2 diabetes. In my eyes, it's a must do. If you decide not to change, diabetes becomes a progressive disease only getting worse over time ending with neurothapy and amptutation. You and only you can control and manage this disease. Here's how.
Avatar f tn "How long it will do its work before I have to increase dosage or change medication?" It would appear a lot depends on how well you are controlling and managing your glucose levels, your weight and if you are adhering to diabetic nutritional guidelines. Are you asking because your glucose levels are rising? What are your pre and postprandial levels? Increasing or changing medication is something only your doctor can decide as he/she has your medical records/history.
Avatar m tn A bit more information is needed to answer your question. When was that blood sugar taken? Fasting at first thing in the morning? After meals? (How long?). A random blood sugar doesn't mean that much. If it is fasting, then it is in the pre-diabetes category. Normal fasting is considered to be under 100. Pre-diabetes is considered from 100 to 125 and diabetic is considered 126 and over. However one number is just one number and what would be better is to have an A1C done.
Avatar f tn No I just have to prick myself four times a day since yesterday and not once have it came up to 100 it's below but they said I have gestational diabetes and that my blood sugar was elevated that's why I'm doing this they also put me on a nutrition diet.
304573 tn?1345577338 If this continues, it might be a good idea to suggest an insulin sensitizer like metformin, just to get you through treatment. Quite a few studies from the Spring EASL showed that insulin resistance can reduce the efficacy of HCV treatment. A blood test known as ‘HOMA-IR’ can measure insulin resistance; it develops a ratio between serum insulin and fating blood glucose.
Avatar m tn t have enough insulin available to help the glucose get into the cells, and to regulate how much glucose the liver releases, then the net effect is that your blood glucose will be higher after exercise.
Avatar n tn Before meals, a range of 70-126 is considered normal. After meals, glucose levels up to 140-something are considered normal. Your little one was probably crying so hard when his glucose levels were low because he felt bad... when glucose levels drop below about 70, we feel pretty awful. The high reading over 200 certainly is way above where the normal level should be, so I agree that he should be checked by a pediatrician.
Avatar m tn Hello, I am a thin and highly active 20 year old male who was just recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. The diagnosis is weird because I've never had a poor diet, I played sports, and have little family history of the disease. I should mention though that my father has been "borderline" since the age of 12 and now he is 51 and his condition has not changed. I'm not in denial but recently I've been beginning to wonder if I truly have the disease.
Avatar f tn If you are diabetic, it is of course optimal to get your numbers to or as close to normal as possible - without going low or high. Hope this helps.
973741 tn?1342342773 Doctors can test for insulin resistance by doing a glucose tolerance test and testing both glucose levels and insulin levels. If insulin levels are high, even while glucose levels are normal, there is insulin resistance and risk of developing diabetes. Insulin resistance means that the body doesn't respond well to insulin and so high levels of insulin are required.
Avatar f tn Usually that happens if you go from one extreme to the next. You need to get those levels up to a more normal range... have you seen a dietitian? They will give you meal planning tips and show you how to schedule out your meals so your sugars don't get too high or too low.
1461994 tn?1285897132 Before Tx, I felt healthy and energetic, walked 5-10 miles everyday. Now I get tired just walking a couple of blocks to the store, I had to take a medical leave from work. Still, I'm more than willing to put up with the fatigue and all the other side effects but Diabetes is a deal breaker for me. Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Thx in advance!
Avatar m tn My doctor decided to run a 3 hour glucose intolerance test (100 mg glucose) on me to see if that gives any idea of what is happening. My test results appear normal, yet confusing to me. My starting glucose was 101, at one hour it was 117, at two hours it was 119, and at 3 hours it was 123. The procedure left me feeling a little dizzy at first, but it wasn't until I ate food after the appointment that I really struggled.
Avatar f tn So i carry glucose pills to use during that time. if i work to much i get to where i am gonna faint. I also have circulatory problems in my legs and feet. My legs feel itchy all day at night i cant sleep with restless leg syndrom. it drives me crazy. my feet are alweays itchy and cold. what do i do.
Avatar n tn t disappear until after I had eaten. To my surprise the blood glucose level came back as high -- 170. How can it be that I was so hungry but the glucose level was high?
Avatar f tn Losing weight is one of THE most important things (if not the #1 thing) you can do to get your glucose levels under control and to keep the pre-diabetes from advancing to a Type II diabetes. Diet management is important too, but it isn't just as easy as decreasing or cutting out "sugars", that's because there are many different KINDS of sugars, some are worse than others in the context of diabetes. It can be a little complex at first.
Avatar f tn We are using 2 checkers to make sure there wasnt a malfunction. It has went from 268 after fasting all night to 183 and has continued going up today. How long does it take the medicine to actually kick in? is there something else to take besides the metformin? He has been on this years and its not working. He has til friday to pass his physical (must be under 200) or he will lose his job, then without a job, he will not have insurance, therefore....this will just will not be resolved.
