Normal blood glucose levels before eating

Common Questions and Answers about Normal blood glucose levels before eating

Avatar n tn In a person with diabetes, blood glucose levels rise higher than normal and do not fall as quickly. A normal blood glucose reading two hours after drinking the solution is less than 140 mg/dl, and all readings between zero to two hours are less than 200 mg/dl." Hope this helps. Good luck and take care.
Avatar n tn In a normal Non Diabetic person, what is the highest (peak ) Glucose levels that are usually attained. If the Peak is below 200 is this considered normal? or is it much lower?
Avatar m tn When did you have your blood glucose tested? Was it before you ate or after? Actually, personally, I consider 125 very good on either side of eating. Just me.
1461994 tn?1285900732 Hi, I've been on Interferon/Ribavarin therapy for 3 weeks now for HCV Genotype 2B. When I started, my glucose was 78 but it jumped to 90 this week. Is this normal? Should I be concerned that I'm going to develop diabetes if I continue with tx for 21 more weeks? My blood sugar has always been in the 70's or 80's, no family history of diabetes, I'm 59, thin and in good physical condition otherwise.
Avatar n tn However, it was much more important to keep the after-pregnancy glucose levels low. Her doctors wanted between meal glucose readings never to go above about 130. For a gestational diabetic, this could mean having to reduce carbohydrate intake, for without any kind of blood-sugar lowering medication, carbohydrate intake is the only thing you can actually control. A typical "diabetic diet" is built on a system that uses a fairly high percentage of carbohydrates.
Avatar m tn I had a full blood check up last week and my glucose levels came back as high for a morning reading at 9.2. I had some more tests today including a fasting test and a hba something or other. My question is soe this now mean i have diabetes. I am very much a night person regularly up til 4 in the morning and eating and drinking before i go to bed. I am white, not over weight and have no family history.
808221 tn?1242747788 "Can somebody explain to me why my morning(bbkfast) glucose levels fluctuate like they appear to be doing." You kept your glucose levels a secret. "Or are my sugar levels ok" You kept this a secret too. "I try to stay away from bad carbs, sugars and starches. I read labels very carefully to avoid pitfalls." That's an attaboy, gus. But are you also keeping a normal weight and doing moderate exercise daily? These help to lower your glucose level.
Avatar n tn I am a type two diabetic. I check the blood glucose levels of my four year old son with my meter often. The levels have always been good. The other night however he ate a lot of his Halloween candy and I check his sugar a couple of hours after he had eaten it and his BG level was 159. This really worried me because his sugar levels had never been this high. I checked again in thirty minutes and it was 133. I checked it again in two hours and it was 106.
Avatar m tn After a while, you will know how much insulin or metformin or exercise is required to maintain normal glucose levels. Modern meters have a memory that can recall every test value and the time, and this can be downloaded to your PC. There are many programs with excellent RN's trained as advisors to help you set up a testing schedule. Being involved with such a "helper" is very worthwhile.
Avatar n tn Thanks for the info and timely response.
Avatar n tn Usually 1 hour after eating blood sugars rarely exceed 140 mg/dl, and return to normal levels within 2-3 hours. If your test results during these time periods fall between 100 and 125 mg/dl you are considered prediabetic. Above 126 mg/dl is considered diabetes. As you can see having levels of "always 115 to 147" is not normal. Testing anytime is not a good idea as it fails to provide an accurate insight on your blood sugar levels.
Avatar n tn Hello, IowaMom, from a fellow Iowan! Normal target glucose levels are between 80 and 120. Glucose levels rise in everyone depending on the food you eat, your body starts breaking the food down and absorbs the carbs before insulin is released to cover those carbs. A 144 bloood sugar isn't abnormal for anyone.
Avatar m tn AST/ALT doesn't tell the whole story by any means. Although it would be strange to have normal blood tests if you had advanced cirrhosis which is late stage liver disease. advanced cirrhosis has many tell-tale signs such as an enlarged spleen, varices, ascites, nodules seen on an ultrasound, low platelet count, elevated bilirubin, etc. and many more. Google End-Stage Liver Disease or decompensated cirrhosis.
143123 tn?1274304425 Shows that my glucose is normal, but my insulin is high. I've never had issues with this and the nurse told me "there's a first time for everything"...which didn't sit well with me, but that's beside the point. They told me I have to exercise more, eat healthier (which isn't a problem, because my husband is a Type I diabetic, so we eat healthy), and start taking Glucophage (Generic Name: Metformin).
Avatar n tn I had a fasting blood sugar level of 93 first thing in the AM and all my levels after eating were 135 or below. Could the 191 have been error? Should I request to have the one hour test repeated first before I torture myself with the three hour test? Or should I just suck it up and do the test. I just have a hard time with a "gestational diabetes" diagnosis when I have yet to see any abnormal values after two days of continuous testing....
Avatar m tn It is almost impossible to diagnose hypoglycemia by drawing blood after you suffer an attack of dizziness, weakness or fainting because your body produces adrenalin immediately and raises blood sugar levels to normal before your doctor can draw blood. It can be diagnosed by feeding you lots of sugar and measuring your blood sugar level every half hour for several hours.
Avatar n tn Basically I am worried because from what I understand a person living without diabetes should not have blood glucose levels so high at any time. I guess I should tell you I do not have family history of type 1 or 2 diabetes in my family. I am 21 years old and have a BMI of 23 (therefore I am at a healthy weight). Thanks for reading and any advice/comments for me!
Avatar f tn So because I threw up during the 3hr glucose test, I have to check my blood sugar levels at home for a week. So just curious what is the normal range? I have to check it when I wake up and 1-2 hrs after every meal.
Avatar m tn If I post the results, would someone be able to determine if my levels are normal? My blood glucose levels drop below 60 on numerous occasions. I have had an A1C test and my doctor says it is normal.
Avatar n tn Ideally blood sugars will be consistently in the 80 - 120 range, with fasting and before eating preferably at the lower end of that, to be truly normal.
1423357 tn?1511089042 I was wondering if there is a connection between high blood glucose levels and PVCs? About two months ago, I started a diet that was devoid of carbohydrates. My physician had warned me for years about my rising blood sugar, but I paid him no heed. Finally, in late March he gave me an ultimatum to cut my blood glucose level or start diabetic medication. This caught my attention.
Avatar n tn Hi Pael. Your average number of 115 is reasonable, though it is slightly higher than would be considered non-diabetic. If you can keep your numbers around this level or slightly better is great. Keep working with your dr as well. For reference non-diabetic numbers are in the following ranges:- 1. Fasting and before eating: 70 - 95 (in the 80s is considered perfect). 2. Post eating (2 hours or when blood sugar peaks): 90 - 140, but ideally < 120).
Avatar f tn I hear soo many oeople dont pass the firstb one which I didnt and have to go back for 3 hr one...
Avatar n tn 8 and then a fasting glucose test which was normal. at this point she was under her Gp. one week later she passed out and as we were worried we took her to the A and E. here they decided that the fainting was due to being overtired and a little under the weather, but they did find out that although the UTI had cleared she still has high levels of glucose, Lucocytes and a trace of keotones. She has had lots of blood taken for analizing and we await the results.
Avatar m tn I had went to the emergency last week because of some other symptoms that I have been having. They did a blood work up and my blood sugar level was at a 57. I hadn't eaten anything all day and by the time they had released me I had taken a couple of sips of my daughters sprite and it went up to 98. So the said I was fine. Since then I have been very worried about this so I decided to get myself a meter so that I could test myself.
Avatar f tn I didn't fast at all before my glucose test & all my levels were normal & i didnt eat anything before either. Just call you doc & ask her what you can have people are diff so something thats good for others might not be good for you. I call my doc and asked before i came in.
Avatar m tn But since about 4 to 5 months i have been observing that the fasting glucose levels are higher than the post lunch levels. .
