Avatar n tn HER2 is co-localized, and thus most of the time co-amplified with the gene GRB7, which is also a proto-oncogene (active in e.g. breast cancer, testicular germ cell tumor, gastric cancer, and esophageal cancer).
Avatar m tn it is basically an antibody against breast cancer with an over expression of the her2/neu gene, and not all breast cancers will be her2 positive. it is a different form of treatment which is usually combined with chemotherapy. and no, i dont think the doctor will look at your nodal status, only the her2/neu.

We studied the effect of an aqueous extract of P. amarus on the cultured hepatoma cell line HepA2. This cell line had been transfected with tandemly arranged HBV DNA and continued to synthesize and secrete both HBsAg and HBeAg. Extract of P.
Avatar f tn There is a genetic component that results in a super-sensitive immune system. This may or may not reflect itself in your offspring. There is nothing to do about this except to eat nutritiously during pregnancy. The expression of this gene has certain advantages, however. There is a significantly lower incidence of cancer and malignancies for those with the so-called "asthma" gene. I have the study reference around somewhere.
Avatar m tn In this study, we compared hepatic gene expression in patients prior to and during peginterferon and ribavirin therapy. In the on-treatment group, patients received either ribavirin for 72 hours prior to peginterferon alpha-2a injection or peginterferon alpha-2a for 24 hours, prior to biopsy. The patients were grouped into rapid responders (RRs) with a greater than 2-log drop and slow responders (SRs) with a less than 2-log drop in hepatitis C virus RNA by week 4.
1793863 tn?1325002184 thank you so much for answering me! I really appreciate you help. I just have 2 more questions first I'd like to ask wheather you think that the mmtv sequences as i've written in the articles are placed only in the breast cancer tissue and nowhere else in the body of the patient... Im studing microbiology and i just cant imagine how is what possible. Second Im wondering if having a cat could be the reason of my mother illness and do you think they can transmit the virus somehow?
Avatar f tn My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008. She had a lumpectomy, (3 lymph nodes were taken out, but only one of them were positive) chemotherapy and then radiation. The tumor had both estrogen and progesteron receptors, but no HER2 receptors. Therefore, she gets hormone treatment. She started to take tamoxifen in last September. (The US before the treatment didn't show anything in the ovaries.
Avatar n tn Did the laboratory use IHC or FISH in determining the Her2Neu expression? Form what you posted, it seems that your mother is in the early stage of breast cancer. She will benefit from either chemotherapy or hormonal therapy. She can undergo chemotherapy then hormonal therapy after she is done with her chemotherapy. Her hormone receptor status is positive. A positive hormonal status has better prognosis compared to those with negative hormone receptor status.
Avatar n tn We confirmed these microarray data by measuring levels of NEP expression in all subjects; in addition, we found that NEP gene expression correlated inversely with proteinuria. In an additional 33 patients, glomerular and tubular NEP protein levels from renal graft biopsies were significantly higher among the 13 patients receiving cyclosporine + EC-MPS than among the 12 patients receiving cyclosporine + azathioprine or 8 patients receiving cyclosporine alone.
2093279 tn?1379547953 Hello, Hard, painful lumps could result from an injury, infection, cyst or fibrocystic change. If you had previous breast injuries, fat cells in the breast tissue may be damaged and produce a firm, painful lump in the breast. If lumps are accompanied by breast tenderness and redness, it may suggest an infection. Similarly, breast cysts can also produce firm, tender lumps in the breast that change in size and seem to appear and disappear as your monthly hormone levels change.
Avatar f tn Most gene-expression profiling studies use tissue samples that have been flash frozen. But tissues taken in biopsies are usually chemically fixed and embedded in wax. That method preserves the tissue, making it easier for pathologists to examine, but it also renders the nucleic acids -- especially RNA -- difficult to extract.

Avatar f tn I had a small tumour in my left breast removed by lumpectomy in 2005. I was called back 2 weeks later as the Surgeon wished to do a wide excision as they had discovered that part of the tumour was a benign Phyllodes tumour. This year it came back. It grew very rapidly and had blood filled cysts around it. I haemmorhaged 3 times when it burst through the skin before surgery could take place. I was extremely low in Haemoglobin, with a count of 4.2.
233002 tn?1316027966 Adair and colleagues used gene expression analysis to evaluate gene expression in HCV-infected patients and a control group. The researchers found a difference in the expression of 29 genes, including those involved in brain oxidative and energy metabolism. These findings support a biological basis for the link between HCV infection and depression.
1134468 tn?1381429585 i read on the internet this could be a sign of prolaction-a hormone in the body that can have an affect on my ovulation. so my question is have any of you ladies experienced this or have friends/fam that have? what was the outcome? i plan on making a doctors appt. which im not excited about but i want to get to the bottom of this so i can get pregnant. jus thought i'd ask here first.
Avatar f tn It occurs when the thyroid gland makes too much of the hormone thyroxine. Overproduction of thyroxine increases the body’s metabolism and results in the lower white blood cell count. There are a number of diseases, disorders and medications that cause hyperthyroidism." Since you have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, it would be very unusual for you to be hyperthyroid, except in the case of having nodules on your thyroid related to the Hashi's.
Avatar f tn Dear Kelly, Male breast cancer is rare, but one out of every 150 cases of breast cancer involves a man, usually in men over 60 years old. Treatment of male breast cancer uses the same modalities as are used to treat females with breast cancer, these may include use of surgery, radiation therapy, hormone therapy, biologic therapy and/or chemotherapy.
Avatar m tn Gynecomastia is the development of abnormally large mammary glands in males resulting in breast enlargement. the breast development shrinks or disappears within a couple of years In adolescent boys the condition is often a source of distress. The causes of common gynecomastia remain uncertain, although it has generally been attributed to an imbalance of sex hormones or the tissue responsiveness to them. Imaging by X-rays or ultrasound is needed to confirm the diagnosis.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the info, for I went on his website and mostly everything on there has to do with breast & ovarian cancer in regards to the BRCA gene. I could not find anything in regards to oral contraceptive use over a long period of time and links to breast cancer. I do agree that there are good and bad.
Avatar f tn APOE comes in several different forms, or alleles . One of the tests is - NEURAL THREAD PROTEIN GENE EXPRESSION IN DETECTION OF ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE. Please consult a gene specialist for the testing . Hope this helps you . Take care and regards !
Avatar n tn I had a radical hysterectomy followed by chemotherapy for ovarian cancer in '07. I have had a terrible time losing weight, I cry easily, I have hot flashes, and insomnia. I cannot take HRT due to my cancer and family history of breast cancer. Are there any natural products I can use to help any of these symptoms? Will soy milk be of any help or am I putting myself at risk of breast cancer.
Avatar m tn Good memory. I just want to ask again in light of this new research finding about BMSCs.
