is omeprazole a nercotic pain killer? i know some medications that may b addicting so i thought i would double check..also i had seen that u can take in an i.v is this true and if so how?
I just finished treatment 2 days ago for h pylori. It was two weeks on omeprazole, clarithromycin and Metronidazol for two weeks. The original pain I was having was heartburn, bloating and a pain on my side just under my rib cage. The antibiotics gave me diarrhea several times each day. I still have the diarrhea, as well as the heartburn and pain on my side.
is this pain on my side something else? A hernia? A really bad ulcer?
I have GERD and a hiatal hernia and have been taking omeprazole twice a day every day for a few months (I had been on Prevacid for several years before the omeprazole but insurance won't cover it any more). If your main symptom is burping, I would try going off of the omeprazole and switching to gas-x or some other type of gas relief medicine. As long as you aren't having a lot of problems with heartburn or acid reflux, you would probably be fine to discontinue using the omeprazole.

Following a valve replacement and triple bypass I was discharged from Hospital with a number of drugs and a new one being Omeprazole. I did not know why it was prescribed but after a number of months taking it I decided after discussion with my Doctor to stop taking it. A few months later through the night I got this terrible chest pain on a scale of 1-10 I guess it was 7-8.
At first my wife had urinary infection, few weeks later she started to have fever and stomach problems, the docter told her it was a gastroenteritis. I bought her omeprazole and gave her amoxicilline, that worked. She felt fine, but few weeks later she had urinary infection symptoms again. The doctor gave her antibiotics again, that helped her.
I was not able to eat for three days and was not able to swallow food properly through oesophagus. Then I was injected omeprazole (around 6 bottles) over two days in a hospital in India and it started getting better after that.
November 2012: I again had the same problem with oesophagus and acid reflux. The doctor in Germany prescribed me Omeprazole 40 mg. Acid reflux problem went away but oesophagus was still the same. It was not that bad but I was not able to swallow foods perfectly down.
do any of you have any idea what to take if u have heartburn ? Has your doctor told you what he advised?
Now, two years later my gastritis symptoms have come back (heartburn and nausea), and I read somewhere that I can take omeprazole AND ranitidine on the same day (but not the same time) so I've been taking the 20 mg Omeprazole in the am before breakfast and a 75mg ranitidine in the pm before dinner, which has worked quiet well.
I was recently hospitalized for intense stomach cramping, heartburn, nausea and vomiting. I have had issues with heartburn for years now, and it turns out that I have an excess amount of acid in my stomach and that my stomach is inflamed. I was prescribed 40mg Omeprazole, but bought the 20mg Omeprazole over the counter and have been taking 2 each morning instead. It ha been 3 days (and three doses) and I have had EXTREME severe diarrhea.
I had belching all the time on omeprazole. It never treated that symptom. I have quit omeprazole and am now retesting for h pylori and am awaiting gallbladder tests as well. A dr should always investigate reflux that does not respond entirely to omeprazole.
I did a soft, slow cooked soup diet for three to four days then I moved into a regular gerd friendly diet where I eat something just about every one to two hours until dinner and after dinner no food or snacks unless it is an apple snack.
I originally was getiing very bad heartburn and then one day i thought i was having a heart attack. Went to doctors was told it was acid reflux had an ecg was all fine. I took the 40mg omperazole once a day for a month and i was still gettin very bloated to the point were i could not catch my breath and was causing left shoulder pain. I had to wait 2 weeks for and endoscopy.
My doctor says I have esophagitis, and prescribed for me 20 mg omeprazole for 4 weeks.
I am taking it now for 6 days and don't see any improvement yet.
The drug reviews say it usually takes up to 4 days to feel better. Is this the case, or may it take longer time to see results?

Only thing is I can not take my Lansoprizole for my acid reflux. I am having issues with heartburn after meals. I suffer with it until I can take a couple of TUMS 4 hrs. after Harvoni. I usually wait 5 hrs. to be sure it won't interfere with Harvoni. I have been reading a lot about Aloe Vera Juice. They say if you take it before each meal 2-4 oz. that you will not get heartburn.
The issue now is that after 10 weeks of not being on omeprazole I still have so much acid, or heartburn. I I have changed my eating habits to smaller meals 4 to 5 times daily. I stay away from high acidic foods, I try to eat slowly and to not lie down afterwards for 2 to 3 hours.
ve seen comments with all kinds of opinions comparing the effectiveness of different forms of Prilosec (generic name omeprazole). But that are usually prescription brand-vs-generic, or OTC (non-prescription) brand-vs-generic. What I am looking for is real-life experiences from people who have moved from PRILOSEC OTC to GENERIC RX OMEPRAZOLE, or vice versa.

Hi! Just found out today im 5weeks pregnant. Im currently taking omeprazole 40mg a day and i need to stop its rated a class C for pregnancy. However when i stopped before i had horrendous heartburn i was so miserable i was prescribed zantac but that didnt work. I am also prescribed lorezapam 0.5mg but have only been taking a half a day. I know thats VERY BAD TO USE. I dont have any problem with quitting that just have to find ways to calm my anxiety. But my omperazole i am.
Heartburn is keeping me up. All I have at home is tums which had been working great but just aren't cutting it. What medicine do you ladies find most effective?
Indigestion/heartburn can cause a bitter taste and a sour taste when swallowing. It is commonly caused by sleeping soon after eating.
Try not to eat with two hours of going to bed.
You can also try a heartburn remedy such as Tums.
Has anyone got any helpful tips for heartburn for the last week have had it towards the end of the day and its horrible.
recently ive been having more frequent heart flutters and skips with the sensation of passing out !! I have acid reflux bad I take omeprazole 40 mg I ran out of my meds and started taking over the counter omeprazole I had bad skips and sweats that caused me to go to the ER they did a stress on my heart said it was fine could there be a problem going on in my esophegous causing these heart symptoms? Help desperate for peace of mind!
When you stop eating gluten it can take a week for it to all get out of your system before your heartburn subsides and it could take a day after you eat gluten to start having heartburn so most people can't figure out what is giving them the heartburn. People think spicy foods give them heartburn because they notice it more after eating something spicy...it's the gluten people! But that's just my opinion!
