Common Questions and Answers about Heartburn causes of belching

heartburn

Avatar m tn With laryngopharyngeal reflux, you may not have the classic symptoms of GERD, such as a burning sensation in your lower chest (heartburn). That's why it can be hard to diagnose and is sometimes called silent reflux.

Avatar f tn U have abdominal pain left side and belching like mad little heartburn but it comes and goes. I was just wondering if anyone else has abdominal pain and was prescribed that ?? Also lower back pain like its tightening. Ohh and opinions please on when to take this omeprazole, people say go against night time and have it in the morning.
Avatar n tn In the beginning it was accompanied by severe heart burn and belching. I thought the pain was caused by the inflammation of the esophagus, but after 6 month with increasing heartburn problems I took PPI for one month and the heartburn problem was completely gone. What was left was the constant pain in the right upper quadrant. Ultrasound, gastroscopy, coloscopy, bloodwork and an MRI showed nothing abnormal, expect a folded gallbladder but with no sign of inflammation or something.
Avatar n tn All this actually started several months ago. My symptoms are rather scattered as well. I was drinking a lot for a while and I switched to bud light lime. After drinking that for about a month I woke up in the middle of the night and had some weird sort of attack. I was sick to my stomach, had horrible heartburn, shoot I can't even remember all the symptoms. It was just bad.
Avatar n tn I got off Prilosec and eventually the nausea symptoms went away and I was fine up until 2 weeks ago. Now, my main problem is frequent belching and brief episodes of nausea but these are much more manageable than last time. The belching however is becoming problematic - the only time I get relief is by laying down. The minute I get up it starts up again - it doesn't matter what I eat or whether I eat - it's pretty constant as long as I am upright.
Avatar f tn No, acid reflux is the upper digestive tract...its a weak stomach sphinter muscle that doesnt close properly causing heartburn, belching, indigestion etc. Diarrhea is caused by conditions of the lower digestive tract...IBS is an example...that can cause diarrhea as well as constipation and painful cramps.
Avatar f tn one other thing - it has been mentioned that belching helps and I agree, but also for me, coughing will bring me out of a scary run of PVS.
Avatar f tn I drink every other day (vodka) have been for the last 6 months. I've always had heartburn and am constantly eating tums or taking Prilosec. This past week I've been vomiting everyday after drinking and have been vomiting acid. Last night was the worst. I woke up st 4am violently vomiting acid my throat and nose still hurts today. I did vomit what looked like blood, it also burned very basket when it came up.. also went through my nose. I took zofran an anti nausea pill to calm it down.
Avatar f tn Recently I went on cholesterol meds and besides awful leg aches i starting belching and burping heartburn, Dr took me off meds been just 1 week, symptoms milder but not gone, How concerned should I Be?
Avatar m tn I am a non smoker, not overweight, not diabetic and have no chronic history of heartburn, but in the past, I have been unable to take large doses (800mg) of ibuprofen without having strong reflux problems at night time. Other than that, reflux was infrequent and sporadic. However, I do like my coffee as well as my spicy and fatty foods. About four weeks ago, I started having mild heartburn symptoms at night, that were generally relieved by Zantac.
Avatar n tn My mother decided the belching could be due to the lack of food in my stomach...soo...we decided to stop and eat something. After eating a few bites, I immediately had to spit the food out. It's almost as if my mouth told my brain if I didn't spit it out, I'd throw up. I took a sip of my drink and felt the same feeling but forced it down. I immediately went outside to get some air and just felt the sickest I've ever felt.
243059 tn?1202377352 It cleared up however I have continually suffered from heartburn since. It has gotten worse over the last 3 weeks where the heartburn is everyday pretty much all day long. OTC meds are not helping and my doc rx'd pantaloc yesterday. I asked him about the possibility of the hpylori returning. He wants me to use the meds for a month then stop and see what happens. With the symptoms you have and the discomfort you are in I would push for more testing. Hope you get this figured out soon.
Avatar m tn I started by having like chest congestion symptoms which later develop to like a shortness of breath and it causes me to start having palpitations which rushed me to the ER one day and the next day i was on ECG and Electrocardiography which turns out all OK. but doctors quarry GERD which i treated with omeprozole and damperidone but now am still having issues with shortness of breath and belching especially when i eat some certain foods pls do GERD causes that?
Avatar m tn Several conditions can cause dysphagia. In children, it is often due to physical malformations, conditions such as cerebral palsy or muscular dystrophy, or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Dysphagia in adults may be due to tumors (benign or cancerous), conditions that cause the esophagus to narrow, neuromuscular conditions, stroke, or GERD. It can also be caused when the muscle in your esophagus doesn't relax enough to let food pass into your stomach.
Avatar n tn I had an upper endoscopy and everything looked normal, except for some erythema and bile stains in the antrum of my stomach. I have no heartburn at all. Is the bile reflux the cause of my belching/hiccups/petechiae? I would appreciate anyone who has had similar issues giving a suggestion.
Avatar n tn Symptoms relieved by belching or taking tums. Is this GERD or something more sinister? My doctor wants to do an abdominal ct scan. This discussion is related to Chronic Stomach Bloating.
Avatar n tn If I sit(slouch) or lie down shortly after eating they will act up as well. I hate the darn things. I know my hiatal hernia causes some of mine, it presses up against the "vagus nerve" and can cause this type of reflex action. If you will go to the archives and type in hiatal hernia or gas, you will see that there are lots of other members who have this exact same problem.
Avatar n tn For the past several days I have had to urinate often, felt a strange airy/burning sensation in my chest, heartburn, belching, and frequent gas pains and bubbly feeling in my abdomen. Also, it seems at night that I wake up suddenly with a jerk and/or gasping for air. Today I developed a shooting pain in the front of my neck and a shooting pain in my right lower pelvic area. I have a history of asthma, axiety attacks, and GERD. Could it just be this or does it sound more serious?
Avatar f tn 3 days with chestpain with belching and some heartburn. the pain rises in my chest then i belch. i can feel a discomfort in my stomach, it is like i have air trapped in my back and stomach. is this a heart attack warning?
