Common Questions and Answers about Head pain neck injury

neck

Avatar n tn Yes it could cause a headache. Your neck may be out of alignment from the injury and you could have a pinched nerve. What kind of injury did you have, did they take ex rays? You have to make sure you did'nt break any of the bones in your neck or have any bulging discs. These two things can also be causing your pain. If you have'nt had any tests, do so, and if they come back fine you might want to consider seeing a Chiropractor.

Avatar f tn Head injury is of two type: External and Internal. Headache and pain in the neck is a sign of internal injury. Internal injury is a bit threatening if ignored. So, I would suggest you to seek medical help. Get yourself checked by a neurologist.
Avatar f tn For the past four days, I have experienced these odd symptoms that are becoming more and more unbearable. My upper neck has been hurting, but I have this odd burning pain when I turn my head or when I try to lift something even. Feels like a hot poker's being inserted there. But I also have this pain in the back of my head, on the right side, an area maybe an inch in diameter that's very tender, especially to touch. No headache, just a tenderness to touch, very sore.
Avatar f tn I hit my head the other day on the left side and I got a big bump on it. It did not hurt the first hour or two but it was really swollen. The next day it did go down but still felt pain. Since then I've been noticing that the back of my neck has been hurting like crazy, sometimes I blank out without, my left ear burns up, and sometimes my eyes feel like they are closing. Do I need to get it checked out?
Avatar m tn It can get pretty painful, to the point of having to wear a neckbrace, as any movement will cause pain. I had the same type of injury in a car accident (we stopped short, and my head hit ceiling very hard). I remember "feeling like a turtle' for a while, like my head was being pushed down into my body. My neck compression ended up fixing itself, and i had no lasting problems. i hope you end up the same way. Just follow the doctors orders.
Avatar m tn as of today I am experiencing multiple jerks while trying to fall asleep..infrequent dull achy pressure pain on top of head at site of initial injury, feeling like im in a fog/dizzy/off balance and inability to focus, some burning sensations throughout body mainly hands and feet...and of course tightness in upper left temple that is occasionally numb and twiches...swelling in the eye has gone down a bit in the last few days...
Avatar f tn Do you have a question? Are you diagnosed with MS or in the diagnostic process?
Avatar m tn While we were grappling, I rolled the wrong way and ended up twisting my neck really bad. The injury took about 2 weeks to heal, and during the initial stages of the injury I couldn't turn my head at all without feeling acute pain. During that time, I also realised (painless) swelling on the side of my neck that was twisted, and the shoulder on the same side also sagged below the opposite shoulder.
Avatar n tn started with severe neck pain that radiated to back of head on left side. Had therapy and made worse. Neck and back of head now hurts when I turn it right or left or up or down. Back of head hurts at base of scull all the way accross back of head with slightest movement. sometimes when pain is worse, the lower part of head(at base of scull) seems swolen all accross the back of head. The swollen area hurts slightly when pressed on. Has been going on several months.
Avatar m tn Usually, such symptoms may result due to post head injury and may last for weeks or months after the injury that caused from the injury of a fall, vehicle accident, or sports injury. For treatment approach, first it is essential to get (MRI) done to detect the brain or spinal abnormalities after that injury. Treatment commonly may be suggested for symptoms such as pain-killers, some antidepressants, physical therapy and regular exercises.
Avatar n tn I was told I have neuralgia in my head. It's a stabbing pain every second or so very painful. What medicine I can take otc that would help this pain.
Avatar m tn Though I fell down quite hard on my head , my head didnot hurt at all. Instead I hurt my leg and neck a bit. Is it possible that I may internally bleeding in my head. One of my relatives had an internally bleeding in her head not too long ago after she fell down , hence I am feeling scared. Almost 2 hours has passed since I fell down and still I donot feel any such discomfiture other than a blunt headache which lasts for 2/3 minutes. Should I be worried?
Avatar m tn please help me. im having this terrible neck pain and now is affecting my head. im now having pains on the back of my head.i cant even sleep or think straight. is it because last week i inhailled lots of paint or what?
5290319 tn?1366051178 IF HE IS STILL FEELING BAD I THINK I WOULD QUESTION IF HE HAS HURT HIS NECK WHEN HITTING HIS HEAD. MANY PEOPLE HAVE SUFFERED CRITICAL NECK INJURIES FROM DIVING IN A POOL. WAS HIS NECK CHECKED? JUST A THOUGHT. ALSO I NOTICE YOU MENTIONED THE FACT YOU ARE DREADING A BIG HOSPITAL BILL.BEING THAT I HAVE NO MED INSURANCE AND MANY MEDICAL ISSUES MYSELF, I KNOW HOW EXPENSIVE IT CAN BE. MOST HOSPITALS HAVE A CHARITY FUND TO HELP PEOPLE WHO ARE UNABLE TO PAY THEIR MED BILL.
Avatar f tn is in a lot of pain it hurts to lean my head all the way forward! should I goto the doctor? what should I do? should I wait it out & see if it goes away?
Avatar f tn 1 week ago my 20 year old son got hit in the head right above his left ear with a couple of paintballs at close range. He did not go unconscious, just pain in the head. Since then, his head is no longer tender to touch and no more bump, but when he goes outside into the heat, he has severe, sudden sharp, throbbing pain. It lasts for various amounts of time. Also when he is active at all, he gets this pain. e.g. he went up & down stairs twice yesterday.
1980327 tn?1326248976 I had a head injury Dec 23 and now I get dizzy every time I turn at night while laying down, is this a normal sign of concussion.
Avatar f tn You need a MRI of the neck because you have numbness in one arm, and neck stiffness and pain. There may be a compression on your spinal nerves due to spinal injury. The arm numbness can also be due to muscle injury or due to a nerve injury. Also though it may just be a bruise and contusion, your forehead injury needs to be evaluated further. Take care!
Avatar n tn Does anyone know if neck inflammation can cause head pressure and quick jabs of pain inside your head.
Avatar n tn If the head injury is serious there can be a tinkling sensation due to a head and neck injury...symptoms of a concussion can be subtle and may not be immediately apparent. Symptoms and that includes a headache can last for days, weeks or even longer. You may want to see a doctor depending on the severity of a blow to the head that can cause a blood clot.
Avatar m tn I am a competitive tennis player. I have had issues with shooting pain (like a shock of pain) that radiates from the back of my neck to my head. I can only describe it as "little explosions" of pain. Sometimes, this pain causes me to go to the ground (almost like I have lost function for a split second). Also, I always feel confused afterwards and my head and neck tingles. It takes me a while to get my focus back and continue to play tennis.
Avatar f tn You may have what the health professionals call "cervicogenic headache". That is headache with a neck origin. Usually the pain starts from the neck joint at the base of the skull and radiate up to the base of the skull, top part of your scalp and perhaps behind the ear and back of eye. Usually it is one sided, unless you have neck problems on both sides.
Avatar n tn Much of neck pain is actually muscle pain. When you moved the neck, you relaxed the muscle some, and so when you repeated the movement it didn't hurt. But neck pain also usually comes with some pressure on the nerves as well as on the muscles and so the pain can move around. When you say overexertion, exactly what did you do? If you strained some muscles, they take as long as they take to heal. Long for some, quick for others. Quick for young people, longer for older folks.
