Avatar f tn Guaifenesin to be specific?
Avatar f tn Guaifenesin is pregnancy catergory C which means that it is only supposed to be taken when the benefits outway the risks.
1106767 tn?1315050974 I have done some research and it appears that clomid can dry up cervical mucus in some people. But if you take robitussin that contains the ingredient (guaifenesin) only and take 1 teaspoon morning and night its supposed to help. But you only take it after your period ends and stop when you ovulate.Drinking a daily glass of grapefruit juice also helps as does eating sweet potato or yams.I am using conceive plus also which is a lubricant similar to preseed.
1047147 tn?1328906154 The only active ingredient is guaifenesin, and it contains 100 mg per teaspoon. It is very important to avoid the versions that contain decongestants as those may dry up cervical mucus. Also, there is some conflicting information about whether dextromethorphan, the DM in some cough medicine names, may be linked to birth defects such as neural tube defects and cleft palate. Do I need to use the brand Robitussin? No. Robitussin is the most common brand name, at least in the U.S.
Avatar f tn Hi i can confirm that the cough syrup is robitussin chesty cough medicine that contains (guaifenesin) only. Its in a red and black box.I have never noticed my cervical mucus ever before and this was my first month on clomid.I took robitussin every morning and evening (5ml dose). You only take it after AF has ended and stop when you ovulate.I drank a glass of grapefruit juice every morning as its supposed to help CM too.
Avatar n tn I know it should be sticky, EGCM and stretchy. Mine is hardly stretchy at all - a few millimeters and it breaks imidiately. It also only lasting for a few hours every cycle.
Avatar f tn FDA pregnancy category C. It is not known whether dextromethorphan and guaifenesin will harm an unborn baby. Do not use this medicine without a doctor's advice if you are pregnant.
Avatar n tn Well as happens I am taking the medication for different reason and different form (pill format and control of dystonic spasms) and I've taken it as a cough medicine in the past and at prescription dosages it can have side effects of concern in higher dosages.
377493 tn?1356502149 You are supposed to use this before you ovulate and not after because Guaifenesin is thought to cross the placental barrier which means your fetus would be exposed to it. I have no clue what affect it has on the fetus. My body has always produced alot of EWCM, but I noticed when I used Guaifenesin, it increased my cervical mucus even more. I hope this helps friend.
Avatar n tn I've had asthma since I was little, and as far as I've gathered, expectorant is for non-asthmatic cough sufferers while mucolytics are for asthmatics. Is this true? What's confusing me though is why "guaifenesin", a component in one asthma pill I used to take, is used as an "expectorant", and the only OTC drug available for the purpose of easing the removal of phlegm here in the U.S.
Avatar f tn I just started taking clomid and i read to start the guaifenesin on day 10 till ovulation. On a website for fertility i read that you need to take 200mg three times a day!
1240856 tn?1333440354 thanks...i'll try it and see. i think the guaifenesin is the only active ingedient in this one. it's got other stuff like glucose..i'll let you know if it works.
Avatar n tn yes, well sort of. It's Guaifenesin an ingredient found in cough meds. You can usually find a store brand of robitussin that has only Guaifenesin in it. The ingredient is made to break up mucus, but if taken while you ovulate it can make your CM more compatible with sperm.
Avatar n tn I have fibromyalgia so and am in grad school and working so fatigue is my middle name . I wear a mouth guard and washed real good thinking maybe there was some bacteria on it or something .
Avatar f tn Also, you may want to check out the Yahoo support group for guai users who have fibro. Just go to Yahoo - groups and type in guaifenesin. There are some knowledgeable people in that group who can help. Best wishes & God bless.

Avatar f tn s testimonies and graphic details about their symptoms and the effects from guaifenesin, I decided to give it a go. I personally felt that if this was bull#$% then why were so many people finding success on it. At first I was like you and the other responder, I thought this guy was full of bull, but how could this dr be so good at explaining the most intimate of symptoms? (Either he really knew what he was talking about or he was extremely adept to exploiting peoples weaknesses.
Avatar f tn Mix some lemon juice and honey together.
Avatar f tn My doctor gave me a list of safe medication. They allow Tylenol cold and flu and the plain mucinex. They helped me a lot!
Avatar f tn Hi, Side effects of Mucinex or Guiaffenesin include gastrointestinal symptoms like diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and stomach pain. Dizziness, headache and rash may also be observed. It is best that you discuss this with your doctor for proper management. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn You could also use ways of increasing cervical mucous as well such as anything with guaifenesin. Which would be Robitussin. (Just the plain kind). You should also drink a lot more water, try out some green tea and try out evening primrose oil. All of those things will improve the amount of cervical mucous which will inhance your chances of pregnancy. It'll also help your body lubricate so that everything isn't as painful. Hope this helps!
Avatar f tn Take tylonal cold/flu and vitamin c, and drink Orange juice and get as much sleep as you can. That's what my doctor said bc im 38 weeks and had a cold for a week. I don't know if robitussun is to good for you while your pregnant.

2023091 tn?1334024905 Have u been to the doctor and had tests to make sure all is ok? I found ovulation test strips were great and followed deannas plan. I also read doggy style is a good position for conception.
1777912 tn?1314474892 m using OPKs and they are only light colored bars and not a definite positive. I am having egg white tacky CM and light cramps on or about my CD 17-20. Should I consider this my fertile time even though the tests don't acknowledge my LH? I have had blood work - great levels all around. What should I do????
359295 tn?1285952394 I m/c on 9/29, and have been having trouble since. I chart my BBT, Cm, and Cp and still nothing. I am just looking for natural ways to help increase fertility. I miscarried for a reason and would do anything to prevent it from happening again. Not sure if there is much to do, i know it is all left in Gods hands, but its nice to know i could be helping it along.
