194838 tn?1303428544 I do not test my own blood but am sent to the hospital for fairly regular tests but notice that when people post with their blood glucose levels they are in the 100s. I am from the UK and wonder if there is a conversion chart because I think it would be more beneficial if I could compare with others on the forum to get a sense of how im doing for comparison, Any advise would be greatly appreciated .

Avatar f tn I am currently being treated for high BP. I take Lebatolol twice a day 100mg. I am 29 weeks today. I had to have a glucose test done early since im a bit overweight.(a little over a month ago) Now they want another one because of my BP. If my BP is perfect with meds, why do I have to do another glucose?
Avatar m tn com/diabetes/guide/normal-blood-sugar-levels-chart-adults This article has information related to charting of glucose numbers. If you were fasting, I think it's time to have an evaluation by your physician to look into your glucose numbers. If you were not and it was before a meal, then they would be close to normal. so, that info would be helpful for further discussion.
Avatar f tn So I had my initial appointment today, got a bunch of information, got my blood work ordered & because of the stupid backwards bmi chart, I had to get a glucose challenge. I waited 8 hrs to take it so that I could fast, but I'm afraid that wasn't enough. Did any of you mommies have to get an early challenge? When you did do the glucose, did you fast or did you eat?
Avatar f tn t the eAG I was referring to, but the A1C numbers used for diagnosis of pre-diabetes and diabetes which is 5.7-6.4 for prediabetes and 6.5 and over for diabetes.
Avatar n tn My dad was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 5 years ago and had an effective management system, but had a minor stroke a few months ago and the system is less effective. I have been reading a lot about telehealth in the press and that the trail has been with diabetes, does the system work? anybody got any experience.
Avatar f tn If you are going to drink juice, try to stick to ones that have no glucose in them. There is no cure for Type II Diabetes. You may be able to keep it at bay by losing the fat that causes blood vessels insulin resistance, but it will always be there waiting for you to take your body back over. Keep on track with your daily eating plan changes and increase in work out for the rest of your lifestyle. In conclusion, figuring out that you have been suffering from diabetes can be a very tough time.
Avatar f tn I an 24 weeks and 3 days. I failed my first glucose test and now i did the three hire one and Dr just called and said i failed it too. Now I'm having to go to get my blood drawn twice a week and they put me on a diet where i can barely eat anything. Is there anyone else that is going through this or had it I the past? If so how long did you have to get the twice a week blood draws and did diet alone help or did they give you pills or insulin shots.
Avatar n tn Yes, a complete random blood test would surely have shown high glucose levels, for glucose counts are one of the most common things tested in random non-specific bloodwork. Do continue to talk to your doctor, though, about symptoms that aren't normal, and be specific about what they are.
Avatar m tn net/NutritionalChart.htm This chart gives you more nutrient information, but you have to look for each food alphabetically as they are not grouped by types: http://www.caloriecountercharts.com/chart1a.htm I hope that this helps you out...
Avatar n tn Hi all, I'm a 25 year old male who just had some blood work done for some chest, arm/leg pains I've been having. Xray and all blood work came back fine except for the glucose levels which I was told were "a bit high." Probably 45 minutes before the blood tests, I had a bowl of frosted mini wheats and a glass of juice. I am going back to get a fasting test, but wanted to know if eating the food/drink right before could have caused glucose reading to be a bit high?
Avatar n tn Thanks. I think I'm in the market for a new doctor.
Avatar m tn com/eAG-calculator Once on the ADA page you will see a chart on the right. You will notice that an A1c of 6% equals 126 mg/dl, the start of diabetes. It doesn't make sense to say 6% is OK and then turn around and say 126 mg/dl is not OK. Then why does the ADA say 6% is OK when AACE [American Association of Clinical Endocrinologist] state in their guidelines an A1c of <5.4% as normal? Reference: AACE Diabetes Care Plan Guidelines, Endocr Pract. 2011;17(Suppl 2) 7.
Avatar f tn Elevated blood glucose levels are indicative of gestational diabetes, although no one seems to know exactly what causes it. Hormones in the placenta can block the action of the mother's insulin in her body; insulin resistance makes it hard for the mother's body to use insulin, and without enough insulin glucose is turned into energy because it can't leave the body. A high level of blood glucose, called hyperglycemia, requires the baby to work harder.
Avatar m tn Have you been seen by a doctor to test for diabetes? Should you be diagnosed with pre-diabetes or diabetes you can learn by testing frequently what foods you can eat and how exercise helps. In general diabetics test two hours after eating to make sure the number has come down. Any sustained time spent over 140 can cause complications.
Avatar n tn Thank you so much for your informational chart on insulins.
Avatar f tn 1.) Fasting - You do not eat any foods nor drink colored liquids for 8-10 hours. A blood sample is drawn and your glucose level [blood sugar] checked. Normal levels 70-99 mg/dl Prediabetes 100-125 mg/dl Above 126 mg/dl indicate diabetes [hyperglycemia aka Type 2 diabetes] If your fasting levels returns below 70 mg/dl this indicates hypoglycemia [aka Type 1 diabetes]. 2.) OGTT [Oral Glucose Tolerance Test] - You drink a sugary liquid then tested in 1 hour intervals.
794366 tn?1418009395 I have exhausted my resources for getting free samples of Victoza from my diabetes educator. Now every morning my fingers on both of my hands are so asleep and stiff that I cannot use them. Throughout the day it gets better but still tingles. About every week my left thigh becomes all of a sudden numb and tingly. What should I do? I checked my glucose is normal. What are these symptoms? I am 50 years old.
Avatar m tn Your numbers indicated glucose out of control and you need to pay attention to what your doctor says to you. Go back and consult with your doctor so you can understand what you need to do in order to control and manage your glucose levels before they get way of hand. If you Google "diabetes complications", I guarantee you will not like what you read. Your home meter [test kit] could also be whacked giving you inaccurate test results.
Avatar n tn Does anyone know if there is a dosage chart for how much humalog to take according to your sugar level. My sugar is through the roof and I take 20g at mealtimes and 50g at bedtime.
Avatar n tn Carbs to t2 diabetics are the same as sugar - elevates our glucose [blood sugar] above and beyond acceptable levels. A very good place to look for low carb recipes is the Atkins [diet] web site http://tinyurl.com/atkins-recipes . Replace sugar with artificial sweeteners such as Splenda or Stevia. Also, avoid starchy foods like potatoes, rice, and any foods made with white flour - white bread, crackers, pasta/noodles - as these turn quickly into sugar after eating.
798555 tn?1292787551 Just for clarification, glucose under 125 in not diabetes yet, so why do you say "C-Peptide WaveRider mentions will clarify your diabetes type" if I dont have diabetes. The gray area of glucose (under 125) is not diabetes, its glucose thats a tad higher than it should be. Either way I will mention the above to my doctor even though he insists I am fine.
