glucose

Avatar n tn Definitely do the 3h glucose test. The thing about the 1h test is your system is bombarded with an abnormally large amount of sugar in a short time and the blood test will measure your response to it - this is quite different from measuring your levels throughout the day which may be more "normal" because your sugar intake could have been at a relatively low level. In essence, testing your levels throughout the day is not necessarily a good indicator of whether you have GD or not.
Avatar m tn Please get a blood glucose fasting and after food. Thyroid is normal. Random glucose level is normal but on lower side. I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor and the cause for high cholesterol. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted.
1240706 tn?1331602111 Well the 3h test came back with 2/3 normal results. the only high one was the 2nd blood (taken 1h after the drink) Also the Dr looked over my readings I have been taking with the machine and she says my levels all seem normal so I don't need any special councelling. I'm not that high only a small bit. Now that I have the machine she says keep taking readings here and there to monitor and watch what I eat.

Avatar f tn I am trying to control my glucose levels with highly restricted diet and some exercise. So far I succeeded but sometimes readings come very erratic, another problem is my fasting glucose levels which always come on border ie <5.2. Usually when I get abnormal reading at 1hr I again do at 2hr. I am really puzzled how to overcome this problem, is this also common with other women?
Avatar n tn As for the GTT, the numbers I did at home were within the normal limits - I found a link saying pregnanct women did a study w/jelly beans and a 50g GTT (28 jelly beans), so what I did was do a 75g jelly bean test (42 jely beans), and measure them at baseline, 1h, 2h. Here were my results for that (which according to the website/lab results I found online, are normal. Baseline (fasting 8h - 12:45am):85,87 (fasting 12.
Avatar f tn Does a persons age play a factor for their "normal" fasting glucose range? During my last visit to my 82 yo mother, I happened to see her test results that showed her fasting glucose range topping out at 180 mg. I, on the other hand, being 60 yo & under immunosuppressant meds have a range from 50 - 150 mg, yet I constantly hear the normal range is 70 - 120. Both of our blood samples are tested at the same lab too. So what is the "normal" fasting glucose range?
1726450 tn?1316282511 5 if glucose is expressed in S.I. units. Unlike I0 and the G/I ratio, the HOMA calculation compensates for fasting hyperglycemia. Also keep in mind that HOMA and I0 values increase in the insulin-resistant patient while the G/I ratio decreases. The HOMA value correlates well with clamp techniques and has been frequently used to assess changes in insulin sensitivity after treatment.16 HOMA has also been used to study insulin resistance among PCOS patients of differing ethnic origins.
212161 tn?1599427282 To get it down without meds I can strongly recommend adopting a very low carb diet. I am currently eating about 50 - 70 g of carbs per day and have been able to normalise blood sugars. My worst fasting was 176 over christmas, and my highest after eating (too much carbs, of course) has been around 200. My numbers on this low carb diet are 70 - 95 fasting, and usually < 100 after eating.
107693 tn?1252864443 If I ate that much my blood sugars would be all over the place and through the roof. If I eat 50 - 70 g of carbs per day (spreadout, of course over the day), my blood sugars are 'normal' and no-one could tell that I am really diabetic.
Avatar f tn failed my 1 hour glucose test what does this mean ???
535824 tn?1223815900 Looks quite normal for treatment to me. Your enzymes have normalized (assuming they were elevated pre-treatment) so hopefully that signals you will be UND when your viral load results are in. Good luck!
Avatar n tn Your glucose level was only a 61.....you need to read up on hypoglycemia. When your sugar levels are low it will cause massive confusion, fatigue, shakiness, etc. It is aweful when those levels fall....i went out and bought a glucose meter and started testing myself when i had those symptoms and starting charting. Low and behold i was dropping into the 50's and 60's. I started eating something every 2 hrs and modified what i was consuming to help me through these lows.
551604 tn?1333983135 m going to give birth, so therefore I can look at my own test results. Well I had my Glucose challenge this morning and the test came as 138mg/dl (without having nothing to eat prior to the test). I called my doctor right away, but I left him a message.... From doing some research online, I see my number is too high!!! What do you guys think??? Please help, I don't want to have GD!!
Avatar f tn Good morning, mommies! I'm on my way to the lab for my three hour glucose test as I failed the one hour two weeks ago... Is it more common to pass the 3H test than it is the 1H? I have a massive phobia of needles so even just having routine blood work done is highly stressful for me... I don't think I'll be able to inject myself with one if I end up failing this one.
Avatar f tn Your doctor shouldn't be doing g your glucose test that late. You are supposed to fast for 8hrs before the test. My neighbor at a breakfast burrito at 5am and had her test at 9 am and she had to retest because her test came back positive. She ended up not having diabetes...
489656 tn?1249999983 I called the docs this morning to find out the results and they said to pass it has to be 139 or less. Mne was 144 :( I did eat toast and butter right before I drank the glucose drink adn she said that may have affected it, but I do have to go do the 3 hour next Monday. Has anyone else had to take it and passed after failing the 1 hour? How bad is it? Thanks ladies!
Avatar f tn I recently purchased a glucose meter and I have questions regarding results. An hour after dinner last night (where my only carb was half a sweet potato), my BG was 121, two hours later it was 97. This morning my fasting glucose was 88. This morning we went to the local diner and I ate an American cheese egg white omelet with two pieces of lightly buttered rye toast, coffee w/half & half. One hour after I started eating, my BG was 149. An hour later it was 103.
