Avatar n tn A cystoscopy can always be done to look for any local causes for the same. An infection in the prostate could be a culprit in the same. Hence, a rectal examination can also help in picking up the chronic prostatitis which can give rise to the symptoms which you’ve mentioned. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
Avatar m tn Benign prostate enlargement is common in older men, yes it does lead to more frequent urination but has nothing to do with there being a cancerous condition (prostates just get larger with age and can start being a nuisance when they press on nerves).
Avatar m tn 2 days really nothing. The frequent urination is not because of std just after 2 days.
Avatar f tn I already know I have Herpes 2, but am not back in the US so I can get on medication. I have frequent nighttime urination which is caused by the Herpes 2 ( i had done a bacteria urine test and it was negative) . I just wondered, when I get on Valtrex will it take care of the frequent urination at night or do I need to get other medication for that? Anyone out there ever experience it. I think a lot of persons come here for support, not just because they are worried they might be infected.
Avatar f tn My 18 year old son is having similiar problems. Started 3 months ago. Worse during the day (when sitting). His urinalysis (4 of them) comes back clear with no infection. He's had an ultra-sound that also came back fine. He's gone to two urologist (we didn't like the first one) and both called it Dysuria Frequent Urgency. The second doctor put him on an anti-biotic (sulfameth) just in case there was a slight infection not showing up in test.
Avatar m tn Almost all trichomonas infections in men are entirely asymptomatic, and men usually know they have it only when a female partner gets infected. Rarely it can cause nongonococcal urethritis (NGU), with urethral discharge and/or uncomfortable urination. It probably can linger for years. Nothing shows up in urinalysis or routine culture. Happily, trich is harmless in men and usually not serious in women either.
Avatar f tn Although I have read that occasionally men will find blood in there semen for one reason or another... But in my case it's all seems like it would have to be one major coincidence, For all of this to be happening and it not be related to my encounter...
Avatar n tn Sunday, was able to see another drop of discharge, by gently milking the penis, and slight discomfort at the tip at various times through the day. Today, frequent urge to urinate. Maybe a slight burning sensation during urination, although that may be psychosomatic. A standard STD panel is scheduled for tomorrow. The question is whether excessive masturbation can cause urethritis, or with this exposure and timeframe, would it be more likely to be something like NGU?
Avatar m tn I saw a question about frequent urination and stress. I wanted to add this comment. I was having severe frequent urination problems. I went to several doctors and even the Mayo Clinic. I was eventually diagnosed with "chronic prostatitis." Not wanting to give up because of the problems it was causing me, I looked at stress as the possible cause. I went to a psychologist for biofeedback training -- relaxation training -- and after 3 or 4 weeks my symptoms subsided.
393893 tn?1283551230 Knowing an age would help from any medical pracs in the forum, but def get a prostate and urinary check, could be anything from an infection to diabetes, again I am no doc but having lived for 53 years I have been the route with many of the male problems.
Avatar f tn I had the worst excessive urination from low potassium. I lived in the toilet and was getting splits on my skin down there from constantly using toilet paper. I was using Savlon cream to relieve the pain. The relief of orange juice! High in potassium. Went from excessive urination to normal OVERNIGHT! Low potassium causes dry skin too btw.
Avatar m tn The one STD which might be associated with urinary frequency is non-gonococcal urethritis, which is diagnosed by demonstration of increased numbers of white blood cells in a urine specimen collected at the beginning of urination or in a urethral swab from the penis. In both cases you should not have urinated for at least an hour before your specimen is collected. You could have this done at your local STD clinic for little if any cost.
Avatar n tn In general, the decision to initiate medication for the enlarged prostate (BPH) is guided by the severity of their symptoms consistent with an enlarged prostate such as frequent urination, difficulty initiating urination, weak stream, and frequent nighttime urination. Often these are evaluated by a patient’s response to a standardized set of questions that help to establish a threshold of symptoms that warrant treatment with medication.
Avatar f tn Urinary tract (which consists of the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and the urethra) infections are very common in young women. Symptoms of UTI are frequent urination, burning sensation during urination, passing of blood in urine and even fever. The most common causes of repeated UTIs are kidney stones and diabetes mellitus. Women who are sexually active, who use diaphragms for birth control, and/or are past menopause are at an increased risk for urinary tract infections.
Avatar f tn I have frequent urination (every hr) and burning urethra (sometimes when I am dehydrated) for 4 months now.I have gone thru 20 days of levo,20 days of cipro,1.5gm of azithromycin and finally Cystoscopy 5 weeks back. Avatar n tn m not really sure of what causes pelvic pain in men. However, the only way to be sure is to get an accurate diagnosis by a health care provider.
Avatar m tn Ureaplasma is a bacteria and can be treated via antibiotic and if left untreated ... Think causes some issues in especially men but sometimes people have no reaction to it. Some said it's a std but some doc said its normal bacteria. US normally don't test for this but my obgyn tested bc we were running out of reason why I was having discharge and it's not yeast or bv. You can read about urea plasma on this site and see if it fits your situation...
Avatar n tn Symptoms of UTI are frequent urination, burning sensation during urination, passing of blood in urine and even fever. The most common causes of repeated UTIs are kidney stones and diabetes mellitus. Making a diagnosis of a urinary tract infection includes performing a urinalysis test, which checks for the presence of pus, white blood cells, and bacteria in the urine, which point to a urinary tract infection.
Avatar m tn Your urologist won't find anything. It's most likely because: "Oral sex was linked to less common infectious causes of NGU in heterosexual men and men who have sex with men. The researchers include Catriona Bradshaw, MD, and colleagues." That's from an austrailian study done by Catriona Bradshaw, MD Therefore, if you have one of the less common infectious causes, it's won't be detected with the tests for more commom causes (i.e. Gono, and chlamydia).
Avatar m tn There can be worms or parasitic infestation of the urinary bladder causing schistosomiasis which is infection with a type of Schistosoma parasite but it causes frequent urination, painful urination (dysuria), and blood in the urine as its urinary symptoms. I suggest you to get your urinalysis taken and a complete blood count also. The presence of parasites can be detected based on the increased levels of eosinophils in the blood.
Avatar m tn Before this relationship I have had unprotected sex with one other partner from a past relationship within the last year. In the past couple months I have noticed a frequent urge to urinate that varies in severity and can be quite uncomfortable at times when anxiety is high and faint testicular pain that also varies. I have not noticed any discharge other than what I am quite sure is semen ( clear and sticky) and possibly a very small amount of clear fluid after urination.
