The exercises concentrate on spinal and pelvic alignment and breathing that helps in strengthening the body's centre. Avatar m tn Stretching the ham string muscles regularly will often relieve pain in the lower back. Stretching the low back muscles themselves helps. Light weight lifting and things like doing the super man mat move will strengthen the back overall and you need good ab muscles to help with good low back muscles. Lots of youtube videos for this. Ibuprofen always helps in the short term.

I have been to a spinal PT and I temporarily felt better but not much. He focused only on my spine and said my movement was very limited for a 27 year old. Avatar f tn Put your right hand behind your back up between your shoulder blades. Lean your head to the right as far as you can with your ear toward your shoulder. Try to keep looking forward as you do this. Hold for a count of 20. Do the same with the left arm and lean to the left side. Do this about 5 times on each side. You can feel it stretching but its not painful. Sometimes, it feels good to me to slightly push my ear toward my shoulder by putting a little pressure on my head with my opposite hand.
Avatar m tn I stopped running but kept the job. It improved. I tried eliptical after two weeks off and at the end of the work week I was back to severe pain. I am working on strengthening my glutes and hip abductors. Strangely enough ice seems to make it immediately worse. So my cardio has to stop if I am going to keep my job. I have already tapered to around 2 g per day from 5. Maybe i should stay at this level and get these tests done before I go down more? I do have a family history of hemocromatosis.
Avatar m tn They recommend using a rowing type exercise or one of those low slung type bikes and mixing in resistance exercises. The main idea is to do these sitting not standing. As I remember they mention aerobics but since my heart rate doesn't rise (PAF) I haven't figured out how I would do that. I also am hesitant to try rowing as I have had thoracic outlet syndrome and rowing would make that worse. I like the idea of gentle stretching of yoga...

Avatar m tn ve been diligent with my physical therapy and I have full flexibility in the leg. I can bend the leg at the knee and I can fully extend it. I can put weight on the leg and the doctor no longer requires me to wear the surgical boot. I still need to use a cane or crutches to get around. How long does it take for the tibia fracture to fully heal, and is there anything I can do to quicken the healing process on my own other than exercises and physical therapy? Thank you.
