Flexeril and vicodin

Common Questions and Answers about Flexeril and vicodin

flexeril

I have been taking flexeril for about a year and a half. On and off a couple times. I never had any w/d from it. I have been told by the pharmacist that it does have a sedative in it, that's why it makes you a bit drowsy. I'm supposed to take them 3x's a day, yeah right if I want to sleep on the job. Anywho, you should be ok to take it long term with no problems, but remember every body's different.
I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THERE IS SOME SORT OF PATCH THAT YOUR DOCTOR CAN PRESCRIBE TO HELP YOU WITHDRAW AND GET OFF THE VICODIN. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THAT IS TRUE AND WHAT IT IS. I HAVE TO DO SOMETHING. I TIRED OF FEELING TIRED AND EXAUSTED.
See if your doctor can write you a prescription for some Requip for restlessness, Neurontin for anxiety and malaise, some Flexeril or Soma for a few weeks for muscle spasms and maybe some Seroquel low dose, for sleep. Clonidine is very helpful for the creepy-crawly feeling and control of blood pressure variations. It will make your withdrawals easier. Valerian and Magnesium is sometimes helpful remedies over the counter.
So I was taking 1 vicodin and 2 ultracets in the morning, 3 ulracets in the afternoon, 1 vicodin 2 ultracets in the evening and 3 ultracets in the night! I did that everyday, the first time i tried quitting i was going through a nervous scared depressed feeling. so my doc put me on anti-depressants and xanex. then i started my pill popping 5 days later. Clonidine regulates blood pressure, creepy-crawly feeling and will make withdrawals easier. Please don't start taking the opiates again as it will only throw you back into withdrawals once you stop again, or make you relapse.
My injury and subsequent problems brought on depression and low self esteem as well as weight gain and I found the Vicodin gave me a "euphoric feeling" and I could get through the day. What I found amazing is that my doctor kept okaying my prescriptions. I have tried many times to quit - sometimes as long as two weeks but the utter exhaustion and depression made it hard to keep going. Through this I have managed a full time job and taking care of a teenager.
See if a doctor can write your friend a prescription for some Requip for restlessness, Neurontin (gabapentin) for anxiety and malaise, some Flexeril or Soma for a few weeks for muscle spasms and maybe some Seroquel low dose, for sleep and Klonopin which will be helpful for sleeplessness and anxiety. It will make his withdrawals easier. Valerian and Magnesium is sometimes helpful remedies over the counter. The residual symptoms of insomnia and depression can last another few months.
best to stay with non habit forming drugs like phenergan, tylenol pm, melatonin for sleep and maybe muscle relaxers like flexeril for the cramps...hot baths and support hose help too...but sometimes we gotta do what we gotta do...
She also doubled my dose of a med at night for periodic limb movements and gave me flexeril for at night too. I see a psychiatrist tomorrow and will ask him (her question) should we double the dose of cymbalta (if yes w/b 120 mg) or try something new for the 2 types of depression that I have. Are there any medical opinions out there before I go to my appt.?
I have been clean from Vicodin 5/500mg and Tramadol 50mg for about a week now, and I'm in a long term tapering of Xanax.I have not experienced any discomfort from the Xanax withdrawal due to the slow tapering process but since two days ago and today is the worst, I have been feling severe migraines and severe pain in the muscles of my back and neck, specially arund my shoulder blades, where some " knots" are forming and are very painful to the touch.
If not, then don't fret about a 4 to 5 day withdrawl from vicodin. It was much easier than the 5 day flu for me. And I was having morphine, demoral shots like there was no tomorrow. With 10/500 lortabs 6 times a day, maybe much more maybe not for 5 years. Then bang!!! I stopped for 2 months. On the 3rd day of not taking anything I asked,"WHERE IS THE BIG WITHDRAWL?" A week later I asked again. Nothing but a little nervous. Like stopping coffee. BIG DEAL!!!
Last night I took a flexeril and an ambien to sleep and that was so nice. I wish I could just keep sleeping till this is over but I have to live my life, to work etc.
So my question is, should I just take the vicodin to wean of the suboxin and then gradually wean off the vicodin?  I'm so sick and tired of being dependant on something.  I want too be free!  Every time we run out of meds...which happens every month, we spend hundreds of dollars trying to find something to mask our withdrawals...if you know what I mean.  I don't have the time or patience or will power to wait a month to come off suboxin.  I feel so trapped and depressed about it.
i took a ton of vitamins and anti-inflammatory supplements along with about 18 advil per day for 3 days, hot baths, and as for prescription stuff, only 3 soma and 2 ultram ER over 3 days to cope with the pain. it wasn't fun, but i feel really good about being vike-free for almost a week now. in fact, i also put the patch on today after my morning cigarette.
I am now down to 4, 2.5 vicodin a day and have been for a week. I have 20 vicodin left and want to taper so I do not have horrific WD symptoms. I want to STOP and never take these again, I would rather live with pain... when I went through WD in the past I had horrific diarrhea, horrific RLS and COULD NOT SLEEP. I work night shift and am in school full time and NEED SLEEP. Do you think flexeril will help me sleep? What would be the best thing for me to do to get off of these evil pills.
I too will take Tylenol cold or allergy meds when im w/d i looked up Vicodin and other meds that i take and read alot about them and figured out they have alot of different components to them. I want to take the jump but i just haven't had the guts to do it yet. But by reading these stories it is really giving me the strength to at least begin. People put a huge stigma on abusing prescription drugs. i used to. I have sense realized that it can happen to anyone!
after I broke the news to him last night that I am struggling with vicodin and need his help to kick it. This is my first (and last) time dealing with a prescription medication addiction, and I'll be honest....I am scared. I started taking vicodin about 2 years ago for pain. It was very intermittent, but I will be honest, not only did I find relief from my pain, I really liked the way it made me feel. Last June I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia...
I am currently take BOTH Soma and Vicodin. (And have been for some time) It is very true about SOMA. It is sedating; so may I suggest that you take SOMA with your Vicodin at a time, when you are able to lay down and rest. This combination of drugs is especially helpful to me at night. I suffer from continual muscle spasms due to Multiple Sclerosis. SOMA has been a HUGE help, in my life of chronic pain. SOMA can leave you with a "hangover" feeling.
And no, it isn't safe to take 2 Vicodin ES at one time nor is it safe to take one of each (1 Vicodin ES and 1 Norco) at the same time because in both cases you will exceed the tylenol limit of 1,000 mg. Exceeding 1,000 mg of tylenol in less than 4 hours can cause liver damage and even liver failure if exceedances are repeated over the long term. The norco supplies up to 30 mg of hydrocodone every 4 hours through adminstration of 3 norco tablets.
I had this conversation with my Aunt around 32WKS (who is an RN) and she gave me 5 Vicodin (who has been prescribed for migraines). She told me only take when needed, & that they are safe to take during pregnancy (because she, as well took them during her last pregnancy) She's family-& a nurse so I trust her. I am on Medicaid, however & was recently informed that by state, upon receiving government assistance you give consent to a drug test (Mom & baby) upon birth.
I week home with fentanyl patches, vicodin and flexeril. Used the fentanyl for 2 weeks. Wore a brace for 3 months and continued taking the vicodin and flexeril as needed. I was taking medication as prescribed but also noticed the euphoric side effect this time. I began taking 750's for 2 years then the 1000's for a year. I ended with taking 8 pills a day. I had been taking them ever since up until 4-8-07 when I knew I was addicted.
then by my dentist for my teeth, then by him again. for the last four months though he would only give me flexeril for my shoulder and has no idea that i even take the vicodin.

This is day 3 and a half that I have not taken vicodin! I have been using it everyday for about a year and a half.
A couple months ago I got on cymbalta which had helped and I exercise with yoga, cardio and strength training at least 5 days a week. I'm a healthy eater and take supplements. I don't need Vicodin anymore so I quit cold turkey yesterday. I have some Tylenol 3 stashed from a dental procedure and had to take it this morning to help because I was up all night in horrible pain! Horrible! I have a fever and body aches but other than that, I'm ok.
Plus when I was using vicodin I would get very dehydrated and instead of drinking water I would drink like 50 pepsi's seriously I would go through a 12 pack a day.. I guess I had two addictions. Hi and sorry you are having these problems. I was on vicadin but it gave me insomina so I went off within two days. I was on flexeril for 9 months. It only really works for muscle spasms and helping you sleep. The first 3 weeks it helps with pain due to muscle spasms after that it becomes a sleep aid. I haven't been on mobic.
