Avatar f tn Breathing in the Womb Babies do not actually breathe in the womb---at least, not in the usual sense. Fetal lungs are not fully functional, and are not even able to fully expand, until after birth. During the later stages of gestation, the fetus may "practice" breathing by inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid. The fetal lungs do not process the amniotic fluid, the way fully formed lungs process air, but experts believe this "breathing" is important to fetal lung development.
Avatar f tn I was just wondering how long can a baby stay inside a mother womb? Because I'm 39+5 days now and since my next appointment is next week Thursday which I would be 40weeks and 5days. I was just wondering how long can a baby stay inside mother womb? Since I'm over my due date. ( my due date is the 12th but than they change it to the 10th than back to 12th than the 10th so I'm guessing my due date would be between there)...
Avatar f tn Sorry to hear this. I had never heard of this and did some research. This is what I found. Hope it helps and prayers for you && the little one :) CPCs can form within this structure and come from fluid trapped within this spongy layer of cells, much like a soap bubble or a blister. CPCs are often called "soft signs" or fetal ultrasound "markers" because some studies have found a weak association between CPCs and fetal chromosome abnormalities.

Avatar n tn She never mentioned what the two white dots inside the gestational sac were. Was it my baby, more than one, the beginnings of the fetal pole? Anyone know, or is it too early to know? Do the dots indicate fetal matter? Would she have been able to see anything inside this early?
Avatar f tn Baby hiccups in the womb As the baby grows inside the womb, you may be surrounded by strange feelings especially when the baby kicks you or when the baby move around inside the womb. Quite often, the baby might go on hiccupping inside the womb and that usually leaves a lot of the expectant mothers a little worried, as to whether this hiccupping is normal or not.

Avatar f tn Some moms can feel their babies move as early as 13-16 weeks from the start of their last period. These first fetal movements are called quickening and are often described as flutters. It may be difficult to determine whether this feeling is gas or your baby’s movements, but soon you will begin to notice a pattern. First-time moms may not feel these movements as early as second-time moms. Some moms, especially those in their first pregnancy, may not feel movement until 18-20 weeks.

Avatar n tn She went to the doctor and the doctor who did a scan of the womb first of all said there is a thickening of the linking of the womb but that he doesn't think it's cancer (he showed her all the scan pictures too), but he has referred her for a D and C (she has to have a general). She is very over weight. Bit worried that he didn't think it was cancer yet has referred her for more tests. If he thought it wasn't then why would he refer her for more tests? Any ideas?
690470 tn?1227322107 I would think that once the nervous system is fully developed that it is quite possible that the baby does. Around week 18 is when the babies nervous system is developed enough for movement and it just tends to get stronger from there (baby movement that is). However, baby is so well cushioned that it is unlikely to feel pain from the outside. I would assume that your doctor is keeping a close eye on you. Be sure to keep up with your kick counts.
Avatar f tn The fetal heart undergoes a considerable amount of growth very early in pregnancy. The most critical period of its development is between three and seven weeks after fertilization, when a simple heart tube assumes the shape of a four-chambered heart. In fact, the heart actually begins beating by the 22nd day of life.

5431850 tn?1381682097 Am I the only one who constantly worries about the health of my unborn? I know all test have come out prefect and ultrasounds look good but there are always other things that could be wrong that nobody notices until the child is a couple months old. One of my biggest fear is always worrying if my child is getting enough oxygen in the womb. I'm only 28 weeks and I keep contracting so I keep worrying that too many contractions are restricting blood flow.
