1527017 tn?1291671470 Proteinuria can be checked for free proteins like protein C or particularly albumin.More proteins in the urine could indicate that the kidneys are failing.Proteinuria is not a disease but a symptom that indicates underlying pathology.Proteinuria may occur in association with other symptoms like hematuria, edema, hypertension, hypoalbuminemia, hypercholestrolemia, hyperlipemia, elevated serum creatinine and ASO.So there is really very long differential for proteinuria only.
Avatar f tn My vet seems to think his teeth are the main reason his kidneys are going bad. I have read over and over that the way to go is a low protein diet and also some vets who disagree with that. I would like to know if Azodyl could help along with Aluminum Hydroxide as has been suggested by many. Since there are numerous posts regarding good results with this product I just wanted to know whether to try this or if something else might work better. We don't have much time for experiment! Thanks!
Avatar f tn Will the Nupro hurt his kidneys (too much added protein)? Is there another food besides the Royal Canin that has low protein but will give him more nutrition and also be good for his kidneys? Do you recommend Azodyl and Epakitin along with the Nupro or is that too much for his kidneys? I want him on a good food for his kidneys but don't want other things to be affected like it is now. Thanks so much for any help or advice.
187666 tn?1331173345 Avastin can cause protein to be excreted through your kidneys...I'm on Avastin now and have to have my urine checked before every visit for excess protein. Other than that, I don't know that it can impair kidney function... I suppose though, that any chemo could potentially damage your kidneys. I don't remember seeing that listed as a side effect though... Hope this helps..
Avatar f tn Anyone who consumes high amounts of vitamin D or phosphorus may notice cloudy urine as their kidneys filter the excess phosphorus out of their body.

Avatar n tn Hello! Anyone else get protein in their urine? I'm 6 weeks and 5 days and I'm hoping it's nothing serious although my doctor called me back to her office to discuss it. Any support would be great! My blood pressure was normal and no UTI symptoms, I'm hoping it's just my kidneys working hard due to pregnancy.
483733 tn?1326798446 I have been getting a lot of swelling in my hands, fingers, feet and ankles. My doctor is having a hard time figuring out what is wrong and I am scheduled to see an arthritis specialist in December even though my blood tests are not giving clear indications of that. My husband and I have been trying to lose weight and have cut out the regular red wine drinking we do. My swelling and pain has been better. Tonight I had some red wine and can feel the swelling returning and am so uncomortable.
Avatar f tn You may also need 24 hours urine test, random protein to creatinine ratio to check the kidney status and a serum and urine protein electrophoresis test to determine which proteins are being excreted and in what quantities. Sometimes, some proteins will appear in the urine if the levels of protein in blood become high, even when the kidney is functioning properly. I suggest you to discuss these investigations with your urologist and get them done. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
4503521 tn?1400858886 Having small amounts of protein in your urine is common in pregnancy. It can happen for a number of reasons. It probably just means that your kidneys are working harder now that you're pregnant. It could also mean that your body is fighting a minor infection. Your midwife may send a sample of your urine to the hospital to check if you have a urinary tract infection (UTI). If you have a UTI, your doctor will prescribe an antibiotic that is safe to take in pregnancy.
Avatar f tn If your blood pressure is high and you have protein in your urine it's because your kidneys are not functioning properly to filter the protein out. Protein in your urine without high blood pressure is usually due to diet, dehydration, or something preexisting.

468408 tn?1208433009 Some vitamins are toxic if taken in excess as well, big-time, and others, are peed out when taken in excess. The major ones to be concerned with in excess are A, D, E, and K. Again, I could list all vitamins and minerals if you want.
