memory

Avatar m tn The hand tremors are 90 percent gone, the anxiety is gone, but the memory loss, long and short term remain. Can mercury cause long and short term memory loss that would last my whole life, even 45 years after the mercury exposure?
Avatar f tn Although I have no problem remembering facts and figures and my short term memory is better than most, I have no long term memory of events. I know it's normal not to remember childhood, but I don't remember high school or college or anything I did there. In fact, my oldest memory is looking outside and seeing chairs on the lawn at my mom's birthday. That was two weeks ago and there only seems to be a vague, blank space before it. Memories just fade after a few weeks.
645800 tn?1466860955 Hey Dennis, I think your putting together two very different issues, i'm pretty sure they are both basically related to 'working memory' deficits but word recall is stored in our long term working memory bank and forgetting where you put something, would be stored in our short term working memory bank.
Avatar m tn ll be 60 in Oct. and am told that at that age people usualy lose 55% of thier short term memory. Can alprazolam cause brain problems? I read something about the ventricles inlarging. Avatar n tn MY TSH ( THYROID LEVEL IS WITHIN RANGE BUT ON THE BOTTOM OF THE RANGE..I KNOW THIS IS DUE TO THE LONG TERM USE..SO NOW I WILL HAVE TO TAKE SYNTHROID.....WHEN WILL IT STOP.
Avatar n tn Hi I don't know I am just a lay person but I would be cautious about using any sleep medication with untreated sleep apnea. I wonder if your symptoms are the result of the sleep apnea vs the medication. Disturbed sleep can leave you feeling tired and low oxygen saturation levels could explain poor memory. I don't know of any long-term effects of Remeron. I have read that increased blood fats could pose a risk for some people though. This is said to be rare.
1830047 tn?1321667793 What you are describing very well could be MS related memory problems. Several months ago I had a Neuro Psych Testing done and the doctor explained what is happening in my brain due to the MS. It is a general slowing of the processing of information in the brain. In this process something in are short term memory doesn't making it to the long term memory due to distractions and other information going through are brain.
Avatar f tn m aware that Ambien is only recommended for 7-10 days, and the clinical trials were in numbers of weeks, not years. Not much is really known about the long term effects, and it needs to be scrutinized. Unfortunately, I think it can be difficult to remove factors that contribute to cognitive impairment that exist alongside Ambien use, such as depression, anxiety, caffeine use, diet, lack of exercise, and sleep deprivation itself.
Avatar m tn I have a severe difficulty staying focused. To the point where I can be having a conversation with somebody and the minute they turn around, I forget everything. I am afraid it is affecting my schooling as well. I can't remember much. Its like I have no short-term memory. what would you suggest I do? What type of medication can help me stay alert?
Avatar m tn The problem has long been an issue in my marriage, causing my wife to feel that I am not listening to what she is saying or that I don't care about it. I have also been dealing with chronic depression that has not responded to treatment, and wonder if that might be partially causing my problem. A related issue, though less immediately concerning, is that while speaking myself I find it difficult to keep my comments on track and organized, leading me to often ramble and repeat myself.
Avatar n tn I am an otherwise healthy male, and wondered if the erectile issues were related to my regular and long-term use of stimulant medication. Eventually, I decided to titrate off the stimulate medication, after which I become fairly certain that there was a direct correlation between taking stimulants and reduced libido.
Avatar n tn s first suggestion was that I discontinue taking Ambien immediately; as it was causing my short term memory loss, upon further research on the subject, I learned that I am not alone. And that there are dozens, if not hundreds of others, and articles; which are written on the subject, and the association, or side effect of short term memory loss, while using, and apparently even after discontinuing Ambien CR 12.5 tablets! I've been taking Ambien 12.
Avatar f tn I have short term memory and have had it most of my life, I cant work and i feel very ashamed because i cant remember directions or a number ive been told just after ive been told them. I was abused as a child, sexually, mentally and physically as a child. I have depression and have panic disorder. Would that have somthing to do with my memory beeing so bad?
Avatar n tn Hi. I was just wondering if going off Celexa would help ensure I get some of my memory back. My memory has become progressively worse since I went on the drug years ago. Mostly short-term, but to some extent long-term as well. I am heading to a masters program and later on hope to pursue a PhD, so I can no longer accept this issue. I have a feeling that my working memory has decreased as well, which is unacceptable.
Avatar m tn Due to a very poor short term memory, I just seem to forget what was previously said and lose track of the topic discussed. Throughout school, I often found myself putting in a ridiculous amount of time in preparing for an exam. I'd spend hours reading a paragraph over and over again, and still often not completely remembered what I had read.
Avatar f tn You've been together only three months and you are "absolutely gutted" over him saying he just feels you're good friends? Three months is not a long time, you probably haven't been picking out china patterns together and signing a long-term lease. Also, he is not a guy who gets erections readily (according to the long-term Viagra prescription), which was true before you came along. I don't see what you have lost besides the comforting fantasy that you have a boyfriend.
Avatar f tn 1) As she started to take a loaf of bread out of a grocery sack, her stepson asked her if she had bought bread, to which she replied "No, I'm sorry. I forgot." By this time, she was holding the bread in full view. 2)My husband and I were at her (and her husband's) house for a short visit. We were there for about 30 minutes just sitting and talking.
Avatar m tn What type of learnig disabilities will cause problems with short term memory - working memory and organization?
Avatar m tn Hi, I'm a 45 year male, that has been on antidepressants since I was 15 years old. Lately (over the lasts 6 months) I have been experiencing, extreme loss of short term memory. I'll be watching a tv show, it goes to commercial and I have absolutely no idea what program I was watching. When, say doing some bookkeeping, I will look at an invoice, and when I go to input the invoice # or what ever I have to go back to the invoice, sometimes 2 to 4 times...
Avatar f tn it sounds like you have a brain injury that stems all the way back to your car accident. these type of problems you are describing are EXACTLY what happens with brain injuries. the sad thing is that most brain injuries go undiagnosed because they do not even show up on a brain scan - you only know that you have the injury by the type of symptoms you are having - confused, "air head", bad memory, fatigue, problems with short term memory and long term memory.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know the long term effects of abusing pain killers? I found out today that a friend of my husbands actually had seizures because of how long she was on vicodin. Just curious.
Avatar f tn That's a big dose. I'm not sure of long term memory effects.
Avatar m tn In other words, it is not working like it used to because I am getting immune to it. But giving it up cold turkey is not an option. Please help me with your advise. Thanks.
Avatar n tn The side effects are a constant pressure head ache on the top of my head, loss of memory, less coordination, and sometimes confusion. Has anyone had a similar experience? Will these symptoms go away?
Avatar f tn Which was out of character for her, Since that time her memory has continuously decline at a very very slow pace to the point today where her short term memory is gone. Her logical thinking isn’t normal. Examples of her issues would be: forgetting to take meds, not wearing correct clothing for weather, not being able to figure out a healthy meal for herself-she would choose all sweets or something.
