Avatar f tn I have been experiencing more extreme body heat and sweating recently. I am 57 years old and had a histerectomy when I was 45. I am trying to get off estrogen that I have taken since my hysterectomy. I recently quit smoking and have gained a little weight I weigh 160 - 170. I have gout, IBS, meneries desease. Should I be worried?
587083 tn?1327120262 ve read much conflicting information about this, but what I believe we can say for sure is that soy products (soy milk, tofu, edamame) supply a weak form of estrogen from plant sources, called phytoestrogens. With menopause your body stops making estrogen. Eating soy products seems to boost the estrogen a bit, but is that good? I was a regular consumer of soy milk, tofu, edamame and flax seed after menopause.
Avatar m tn Endometriosis feed off estrogen. The estrogen-dependent endo lesions, if left unchecked, will begin to create their own estrogen. I do want to clarify that the pill or any other form of HRT does not prevent the Endometriosis from growing. The reason it is used is to help stop the pain by stopping the periods. I was on a low dose BCP (Marvelon) for 8 yrs continuously and did help with my pain. However it still continued to grow even after deep excision surgery.
Avatar f tn I am not through menopause yet but I can tell you that if you were both to start using prescription progesterone cream (bio-identical hormone) you would begin to feel much better. Before your get the cream you will need to have your female hormones (estrogen, progesterone and testosterone) evaluated. It should help you both with any symptoms you may have. Progesterone will help protect your bones from bone loss. Not many gynecologists use prescription bio-identical progesterone cream.

Avatar f tn A phantom sensation of ants or other insects crawling on their skin is a sign of low estrogen. Taking phytoestrogen (mimics estrogen) supplements such as soy, black cohosh, ginseng, or red clover can help. Full effects can take a few months to kick in. You can find phytoestrogen supplements at health food stores and pharmacies.
Avatar n tn If breast cancer runs in your family i am surprised that your doctor would give you anything that has estrogen in it. I think you are better off getting off the cream and living with the symptons.
Avatar n tn Yes, a person can be stressed without really realizing how much they are. But there are a lot of reasons for irregular periods, so you should get some things tested, like thyroid function, prolactin, FSH, LH, estrogen and progesterone levels, for example. Also, get a pelvic exam and ask for a pelvic ultrasound.
649848 tn?1534633700 These vitamins can come back out as you lose weight, and as you decrease your body fat, you also allow more of your new vitamin D to stay in your bloodstream. Water-soluble compounds can just be peed out if you take too much of them, but because the vitamins stored in your adipose tissue can continue to build up you can eventually overdose on them. It’s rare, but it does happen.
Avatar f tn hey .. all I know from my fresh cycle is that I was on progesterone after the ER as it is the hormone that is naturally produced to hold a pregnancy .. you have to have it in oil or gel as it's not very well absorbed when taken in tablet form.
Avatar m tn What are you trying to accomplish? Get some exercise, or look a certain way? Unless you're a professional bodybuilder who will make a ton of money doing this, it's a bad idea for your health. Of course you're free to do what you want with your body, but as this is a nutrition forum, it's unlikely any of us will encourage you to overdo anything. Now, what are these downsides?
Avatar f tn It works by blocking the enzyme aromatase (found in the body’s muscle, skin, breast and fat) which is used to convert androgens (hormones produced by the adrenal glands) into estrogen. By eliminating estrogen, cancer cells that have positive estrogen receptors cannot grow. Side effects are certainly not pleasant to anyone, but it has been proven that Arimidex can lower considerably a cancer recurrence. Best wishes to both you and your mom.
10515800 tn?1419227034 Estrogen based birth control is what dries most women up. There are several estrogen free options including the "mini pill" (progesterone only rather than combination), depo provera shot, and one or two iuds.
Avatar f tn This generally happens for two reasons which include a hormonal imbalance such as your body making too much estrogen or due to a small, benign (non cancerous) tumor in the pituitary gland. I had the same issue you are having. I was 'lactating' when not pregnant. I went through an MRI to make sure I did not have the pituitary tumor which I did not but blood work revealed the hormone imbalance.
Avatar n tn I have gone through 2 failed rounds of Natural IVF where they don't give me any drugs and take my one naturally ovulated egg. Both times it produced an 8 cell grade 1 embryo. They transferred on day 3. They said they completely aspirate out the corpus luteum when they take the egg so the embryo is completely dependent on the hormones they give me after transfer (2mg of estrogen twice/day and progesterone twice/day) My estrogen was 244 the second round transfer day.
Avatar m tn An increase in testoserone (the male equivalent of estrogen) leads to hair growth and muscle gain. Your best bet is to find a supplement that doesnt increase your testosterone. If you can't find one, then you'll have to choose between quick muscle gain or body hair.
Avatar f tn It's perfectly OK to stop estrogen for a short time to see what your body makes of it. You will know right away how it affects you, it's not like you have to wait months and months to see if you get a hot flash. Give it a try and ask about the progesterone again too. How long do you have to wait to get back on it? I would try a period of time taking nothing, then a period of time taking just estrogen, and then a period of time with progesterone not estrogen.
Avatar n tn I did not realize they were there until I had to have an abdominal/pelvic CAT scan. My body is turning everything into estrogen, leading to my body becoming estrogen dominant even taking progesterone 200mg 2x a day. I am retaining 20-30lbs of fluid and I am in my late 30’s. Has anyone else had this issue?
Avatar f tn How many places in your body produce estrogen? Instead of taking an estrogen blocker I asked my oncologist if I could just have my one remaining ovary removed. He said it probably wouldn't make much of a difference. Without breasts and ovaries where else does estrogen come from?
Avatar m tn I would think you meant heavily built, and in that case, your low T could be caused by higher level of estrogen in your body, do you know your estrogen counts? If in fact high estrogen is the culprit, you should not only keep away from estrogen pills and estrogen rich food, but also try to bring it down by regular exercise and balanced food intake, there by reducing your weight. Reducing your estrogen level will naturally push up your T level.
429647 tn?1249753429 my ttumor was tested and it was estrogen positive i am on an estrogen blocker.. how about asking your doc if the tumor was estrogen positive or not.
Avatar m tn All I know is that after you get pregnant you can use an ovulation monitor as a pregnancy test since it can tell an increase just like when you ovulate. I'm not sure how soon after ovulation it works though.
Avatar f tn I had Mirena for 2 years then got it removed. I was 16 when I got it, and I bled very lightly for 12 weeks. But after that, I didn't bleed at all for 9 months! It was great! But then I got into this bad fog that I couldn't seem to get out of. And I started having pains so I went to the emergency room to have it removed. Well, this particular ER doesn't Consider IUD removal an emergency.... I finally got into a doctor and felt better almost instantly after.
