epipen

Avatar f tn Thank you Rowena, so are Pine nuts are actually classified as seeds, then? Yeah, I have an epipen (but my medic-alert bracelet got stolen from my bag last week, along with some cash! I was like, why.....it's no use to anyone but me!! it's not even pretty >.<) Catie - did you see a doctor about your allergic reactions to peanuts?
Avatar f tn You need to consult an allergist for confirming whether you have peanut or chocolate allergy and get the above tests done.Avoidance of that particular food in any form(even in hidden ingredients) is the main treatment. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar n tn Yes, excess mucous can be a sign of peanut allergy. Peanut allergy can also cause worsening of asthma. This allergy is more prevalent in children than adults and you might want to avoid peanut butter for a few years.
Avatar n tn -- and my young daughter has developed a sunflower allergy in addition to her wheat allergy, while I have been identifying more and more food allergies of my own ever since I hit 40 years old. Bottom line is that no one has yet figured out how to prevent a rise in the number of food allergens an individual has or may develop.
Avatar f tn I have a niece that has a peanut allergy and a nephew that has a severe peanut allergy. He carries an epi pen with him but he is in his twenties and has had the peanut allergy since he was a child. My niece is only five years old. Her mom is not allergic to peanuts , but my niece is allergic to peanuts. You have to be careful of ice cream too as this could contain traces of peanuts. My niece's mom is extremely careful.
Avatar m tn For a couple of years I started having this reaction to mangoes, where my lips burn and start to get crusty, and it has developed to that, my mouth gets itchy and dry, and my throat becomes raw. My aunt who used to be a RN gave me something called aclivor (both a pill and some kind of paste for my lips) which seemed to work for the first event. But lately, I've been running out of the paste and the only place I can find aclivor is on online pharmacies from Mexico.
Avatar f tn Definitely talk to your doctor in the morning. I have anaphylaxis when stung by bees. They told me to carry my epipen (shot) & take it, then go to the hospital if I got stung. They told me to do what I normally do, but get monitored. They may want you to come in since your immune system is low, due to being pregnant & the reaction could be worse or cause a fever.
171768 tn?1324230099 i once had a girl with a severe peanut allergy. her father gave her 2 skittles (which did not list nuts as an ingredient or possible contaminant) and she had a severe reaction. it's scary. other parents in the classroom did not understand. despite VERY clear signs, notices and conversations, they would still send foods containing nuts to school. I even had a parent try to give this poor little girl a cookie everyday when she picked up her own daughter.
Avatar f tn a whole body reaction like that sounds a lot like a food allergy. and your reactions sound pretty serious. just as a warning, these type of allergies can cause more severe reactions the more you are exposed, so next time it happens it could be much worse. I would go to a doctor and get an epipen (spelling?). hopefully you will never need it, but it might save your life.
Avatar n tn So sorry to be late in responding- how are the bumps doing today? I wouldn't take an epi-pen for that, as long as you are freely breathing and it's just the rash you are seeing. It's very difficult to say for sure if this is an allergic reaction without a doctor being able to look at the issue and have a bit more of your medical history. If you have an epi-pen, I'd imagine you do have a known allergy issue with something?
Avatar n tn No facial numbness but extreme dizziness and breathing difficulty. I have an epipen but have never used it. Does anyone know of a common allergy to food additives or preservatives. I have to eat out a good bit for my business and am getting very nervous about eating in restaurants. How can I narrow down what is causing these problems?
467126 tn?1283144858 s a superstition that your child could develop a peanut allergy if you do. I, however, ate peanut butter every single day and my kids are allergy-free!!!
Avatar f tn d avoid it at least for the pregnancy. Not sure if they can or will do allergy testing while pregnant.
Avatar n tn Eat away. It is only dangerous if YOU have a peanut allergy. Because obviously you don't want to get sick while pregnant.
Avatar m tn I now carry an epipen but would really like to track down the food that caused me to go into shock. Has anyone had such a reaction to chives or green onions without being allergic to other foods in that family? Thanks for any help you can give me.
1984089 tn?1349482899 I actually googled this a while ago because I can't have milk or peanut butter without a reaction. Everything said its impossible bc we break the foods down before it gets to baby but I honestly think some things could be linked. With my first I couldn't drimk milk at all and I LOVE milk and he was born having to drink soy formula but can have milk now so maybe its just a gna be a sensitivity to certain things?
Avatar m tn I know I'm not allergic to peanuts but about a year ago I started having really bad stomach pains everytime I ate peanut butter. I grew up on peanut butter but now I can't even eat candy with any sort of peanut butter type filling like a butterfinger. How do I find out why it gives me such bad stomach pains? I really like peanut butter and want to have it again.
Avatar m tn Soy allergy is most common in children, especially toddlers and infants. As you grow older, your digestive system matures and your body is less likely to absorb food or food components that trigger allergies. In some cases, people who are allergic to wheat, beans (legumes), milk or other foods can have an allergic reaction to soy. You can confirm this by blood test to see for raised IgE levels and skin testing for soy products.
427382 tn?1298209586 I have heard of this. The theory is that you will increase the likelihood of your child having a peanut allergy. Do I think its true... NO. But, that is the theory behind it. I would talk to your pediatrician and find out what his or her thoughts are on it.
Avatar m tn Foods (mostly spices) that I am allergic to do not contain peanut or shrimp. These allergy food cause swelling in my mouth, tongue and throat quickly from contact only. I used to eat peanut butter and jelly at least 5 times a week. Bags of peanuts for snacks, 20-30 shelled peanuts at a time. And shrimp I'd eat about every other week for dinner until I was full which is about 8-12 medium shrimp. I'd end up with left overs and have them the next day.
Avatar n tn I was rushed to emergency, given benedryl and sent home 4 hours later. I got an Epipen for I was told, although rare, that I could have a secondary reaction within the next week. Sure enough November 5 I had a second reaction (bi-phasic reaction). I was given the epipen by my mother for I passed out and couldn't give it myself. Back to the hospital.
709686 tn?1277432159 Two weeks ago I ran across a website that listed Nightshade allergy symptoms which are pretty typical of any food allergy symptoms but these seem to be different and focus mainly on neurological problmes such as muscle pain, joint pain, headaches..etc. Other food allergy symptoms are typically face & throat swelling, hives..etc. Could I have found my culprit? ANyone else ever gone through this?
Avatar m tn what once is a delayed reaction as you describe can escalate without warning into a more serious peanut allergy needing an epi pen. I'd see an allergist and be tests and do always treat peanuts with respect. Repeated exposure is what can cause an allergy to form .. the body continues to build antibodies against the item . this case peanuts. and the reaction can change suddenly .. this is what we've been told. PS: My kids are + in blood to peanuts; yet don't react ..
Avatar f tn I'm a healthy 24 year old female from Ohio.. have had all kinds of indoor and outdoor allergies since childhood, but around age 21, I developed several food allergies. mainly tree nuts, some beans, and fruit. I recently was retested to see if any of them went away, and it has only gotten severely worse! longer list of nuts, fruits, beans... it's beginning to seem the list of things I CAN eat is shorter than the list of things I CAN'T eat.
9552239 tn?1404989880 I was then referred to an allergy clinic for controlled drug allergy testing, I am allergic to all antibiotics except one, which is a horrible drug and makes you feel awful for ages, also allergic to Aspirin, Ibuprofen and all their related drugs - I was given 3 pages of drugs I can't have. So after that I always avoid drugs as much as I can now matter how ill I feel, I stick to paracetamol and anti-histamines only.
