Avatar n tn i again visited the doctor and he suggested me Eliled cream(pimecrolimus). the cream worked well for me. please suggest me, if i can use Elidel for long period without any side effect? and because of using steroid cream my skin became very thin, how can i improve it?
Avatar f tn I am currently using Elidel (pimecrolimus) 1%. This is an immunosupressant cream...could this cause my immune system to be supressed and not produce the HIV anti-bodies? I have been using this for well over 3 months.
Avatar m tn Hello, Epiceram is a topical non-steroidal skin cream which is designed to treat atopic dermatitis, a type of eczema. Elidel (pimecrolimus) is an immunosuppressant. It works by decreasing your body's immune system to help slow down the growth of atopic dermatitis (eczema) on your skin. It is used when all other methods are ineffective. You should use it only when you are not benefitting from epiceram.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with atopic dermatitis by a dermatologist and precribed Elidel or (pimecrolimus cream). I was told that Elidel does not have the side effects associated with topical steroid creams such as skin thinning and discoloration. This was necessary since the area affected is right on the skin around the meatus of my penis. Anyways, I used the Elidel for almost 12 days (twice a day) without any significant results, so I stopped.
Avatar m tn Anyways, I have used the EpiCeram for a couple months along with a penis vitamin cream call Man 1 Man Oil and Emu Oil also. It seems as though my condition has improved somewhat, but not completely and I am wondering whether or not I should try the Elidel now since I want to get this resolved faster! So I want to know if Elidel is really safe for the penis skin, since on the instructions it says not to get in eyes, vagina, mouth or rectum.
Avatar n tn I have this condition in my vaginal area so this is very painful and Ive had this constantly for 1 yr 3 mo. now. I was prescribed anti fungal creams for a secondary infection, then a steroid cream. nothing is working. hydrocortisone cream helps a little but irritates the soreness when I use it too often. I have to keep a cream on the sore areas all the time because if the area dries out the pain is terrible. Do you think a cream like Elidel would work? Do you have any suggestions to help me?
Avatar n tn I had used Elidel or "Pimecrolimus cream" for about 12 days (twice a day) as prescribed by a local dermatologist for dermatitis on an area of my body with naturally thin skin. After nearly two weeks use I saw no improvement, yet my condition did not seem to worsen either. Therefore, I stopped using and met with my doctor; who didn't seem concerned about it and basically said it wouldn't have done any harm.

Avatar n tn I have read that Elidel can possibly help to reverse skin atrophy, and definitely does not cause any itself. Is this true, & how so? If not, then what effect would Elidel have on thin skin that has suffered atrophy from the use of strong topical steroid creams?
Avatar n tn I read on the internet from multiple sources, that TCI's do not cause skin thinning or the side effects associated with steroid ointments, which is why it's usually used. However, one website I read stated that Elidel does not thin the skin "as much as" steroid creams do! So which is it for sure? Does it, or does it NOT thin the skin in any way?
Avatar f tn Topical creams like tacrolimus ointment (Protopic) and pimecrolimus cream (Elidel) are also useful. Till then keep your lips well moisturized. Avatar f tn Hi When topical corticosteroids do not provide relief, sometimes more the doctor may consider prescribing some more potent corticosteroids for some period, in adults with may be needed for adults with eczema on the scalp, limbs, and trunk or those with chronic/ lichenified eczema. Newer two topical eczema drugs like pimecrolimus (Elidel Cream) and tacrolimus (Protopic Ointment) are reserved only for cases where corticosteroids have not been effective.

Avatar n tn 25%, ELIDEL (pimecrolimus cream 1%), Elimination diet (no gluten or dairy), Fasting, Drinking lots of water, Vaseline while sleeping (in-case of drooling), Allergy medication There are some things I probably forgot to mention. I don't know what to do anymore. I also noticed when I wake up in the morning the redness on my bottom lip basically isn't there, as soon as I move my mouth around a little bit it's right back and stays there for the rest of the day.

Avatar n tn However, whenthere is no relief, sometimes the doctor may consider prescribing more potent corticosteroids for a short duration in adults with chronic eczema. Newer two topical eczema drugs like pimecrolimus (Elidel Cream) and tacrolimus (Protopic Ointment) are reserved only for cases where corticosteroids have not been effective. Sometimes oral corticosteroids and immunosuppressants like cyclosporine and phototherapy are used for resistant cases.
