Avatar m tn It remains at rock bottom or not even measurable BELOW range. I have done some research of the top 10 symptoms of low T in women and she has about 7 or 8 of the ten symptoms. THat being said, many of these symptoms are also parallel low Thyroid which we know she has and is being treated for. However have any other women out there been diagnosed ith Low T? If so have you been treated? what worked? How did you find a Dr to treat you? And how do you feel now?

Avatar m tn Systemic estrogen therapy — by pill, patch or gel — can have a positive effect on brain function and mood factors that affect sexual response. Local estrogen therapy — in the form of a vaginal cream or a slow-releasing suppository or ring that you place in your vagina — can increase blood flow to the vagina and help improve desire. In some cases, your doctor may prescribe a combination of estrogen and progesterone.
Avatar f tn I am a 45 year old women who has been very active. I ran two half marathans in the past year. The most recent in May. In July I was diagnosed with DVT and PE. I am on Coumadin. I am having side effects which some doctors don't really recognize as side effect. However, there are many instances on discusson boards of people with the same side effects. Avatar f tn I am being treated with this with Hydrocortone but with this my testosterone levels is low as is my Free Androgen Index is also low. I am now on transdermal patch of testosterone to try to ignite my libido which has been non-exsistent for years. the dose of 300mg is not enough but my doctor does not want to up dosage. Avatar f tn I have asked my oncologist these questions and he just says that taking the AI's is the best proven way to try to stop the recurrence of breast cancer. What I am finding is that the "older" doctors have been doing it this way for 20+ years and are not willing to change. When I asked him to check my hormone levels - he said that was "garbage in garbage out" since hormone levels vary there is no reason to check them.
Avatar m tn I was trying to learn more about if there was dangerous effects of eating to much dairy. Mainly butter and how much hormones like estrogen were in say a pound of butter. I only ask because I did something stupid last week and I ate a pound of butter in one sitting after seeing others do it on youtube.
Avatar m tn This is known as gynecomastia and a few other names in the gym too. Other side effects include loss of muscle tone, a decrease in body hair, shrinking testes, depression, fatigue, lower energy levels, poor memory, low stress tolerance, an ncrease in fat around the mid-section (belly fat) and erectile dysfunction. Elevated estrogen levels really do cause men to look and somewhat act more like women and less like men.
628735 tn?1273875777 Vitex or Chaste tree berry acts on the hypothalamus and pituitary glands by increasing luteinizing hormone (LH) production and mildly inhibiting the release of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH). This results in a shift in the ratio of estrogen to progesterone, with a rise in progesterone. The ability of chaste tree berry to raise progesterone levels in the body is an indirect effect, so the herb itself is not a hormone.
Avatar n tn The rapid aging in appearance and brain effects were the worst - suicidal depression and horrific loss of memory and ability to think and focus. But there were many other negative effects. Although hysterectomy oftentimes causes the ovaries to shut down or produce fewer hormones hence explaining at least some of the after effects, the uterus evidently plays a role too in our physiology and personality. Weight gain is a common after effect of hysterectomy.
Avatar n tn However, 11 years ago, I underwent a complete hysterectomy and had been on HRT which I immediately discontinued at the time of diagnosis of breast cancer. My question is , if I am incapable of producing ovarian estrogen and I do not take any form of HRT is it necessary to continue to take tamoxifen? Have there been studies of women who had estrogen positive breast cancer while on HRT due to hysterectomy and stopped their source of estrogen.
Avatar f tn A problem is, testosterone varies a whole lot in both men and women, by the day, hour, week, etc. and even more in women than men, so the only true way to know if you had abnormally low levels would have been to test you a lot, not just twice. You did have the same levels twice, so it might be a problem. A question would be, how's your sexual desire? How's your stamina? How's your ability to build muscle? How's your energy levels?
Avatar f tn They can then determine if you really are low estrogen. And if it is so low that you have these types of issues, then you can perhaps take BC with estrogen and bump back up to get regulated again. I had the opposite for a good while of TOO much production of estrogen which acted like a natural birth control pill, infrequent periods, melisma on the face (lovely), etc. That was a bummer. But definitely, out of nowhere, hormones can get out of whack.
Avatar f tn It sounds to me like your doctor is more concerned about your estrogen levels in relation to the cancer rather than the size of the fibroid. So, from that standpoint, it seems like a good choice. For peace of mind, you may consider getting a second opinion. Good luck on making your decision!
Avatar f tn It is generally given to women in their menopauze. I have very thin lining in my uterus, too thin for a fertilized egg to attach itself to. I did start taking the red raspberry leaf tablets to build up healthier reproductive organs. I do appreciate all your advice and insights. I have stopped taking the Progynova since my dizziness and anxiety (these side effects are also discussed in the leaflet) make it too difficult to function in my job.
676302 tn?1237863491 Have any of you had your female hormose tested and if so what was the results? I am beginning to think that this may have something to do with the way fibromyalgia effects us. I am thinking of asking my doctor to do these test Thanks for being here!
233616 tn?1312787196 I was on low level hormone therapy while going through the change but as soon as the symptoms subsided, I got off of it. Estrogen should be taken with progestergen to offset the adverse effects on the heart. It also increase the incidence of cancers. I would heavily weigh the odds before using it as a preventative for fibrosis.
Avatar f tn Benign diffuse thickening is commonly seen in menopausal women. During menopause, estrogen and progesterone levels are low , these female reproductive hormones regulate the endometrium built. Focal lesions can be due many causes including polyps, and submucosal fibroid. TVS is the clinically preferred technique for evaluation of endometrial disorders and endometrial changes suggestive of carcinoma.
Avatar n tn s for women. Most of the sites I found in a google said you can wear it anywhere on the low abdomen or buttocks. Do not put it on the breast. Before using this, have you had your hormones tested? Are you self-treating for something? I would really caution you to not self-treat with hormones, unless you've been diagnosed with something. Are you trans? https://transcare.ucsf.edu/article/information-estrogen-hormone-therapy There's no progesterone cream there?
138239 tn?1239924924 It can be low for many reasons - but were any other androgen tests done as well that were off like estrogen or testosterone? If you take DHEA, you will likely raise those levels. It can have unwanted side effects in that case. Was LH or FSH tested? Any other adrenal hormones like renin, aldosterone, cortisol, ACTH tested? How were you tested for Cushing's? Did they at least follow the guidelines and test you three times? I had Cushing's - it can be very difficult to diagnose.
Avatar n tn It is also approved for the extended adjuvant treatment of early stage breast cancer in postmenopausal women who are within three months of completion of five years of tamoxifen therapy. Side effects that are comparable between Femara and tamoxifen include night sweats, weight gain, nausea and tiredness. Side effects seen more often with tamoxifen versus Femara were hot flashes and vaginal bleeding. The benefits of FEMARA in clinical trials are based on 24 months of treatment.
Avatar f tn So if I was still getting my period, I could take birth control pills (which have a lot more estrogen in them than the estrogen replacement) in addition to what my body would be making and this is safe?!?! Has anyone asked their doctor about this or has anyone heard of any studies being done on young surgical menopause people? This is so confusing and scares me. When I wasn't on enough estrogen, life was miserable. I was 35 and yet I felt like I was 86!!
1472677 tn?1330175915 s since then. Not one has given me any answers about after care. I am on Estrogen (low dose). My estrogen level is still low along with all the factors. I am having stoach pain, my skin is wrinkly, vaginal dryness, cracked nails, a lot of back pain, night sweats, I am pale all the time, sex forget it for the pain is unbearable, urin sprays all over, depression, mood swings and a lot more....Is there any advice out there for me reguarding what to do?
Avatar f tn Mayfly, It is so hard to say if the patch of Vivelle caused the weight gain. This is such a complicated subject. I am wondering if your body was making Estrogen in the form of Estrone (which is the 'menopause' estrogen that is made as a by-product from the fat in our system... and this fat is what causes the fat around our middle section so that it is readily available for use by the body since women's bodies crave estrogen)...
Avatar f tn My tests show I have low estrogen (also taking birth control pill), decreased cortisol in the morning and increased at night and elevated DHEA. I'm just baffled as to why I am sweating so much. Should I get treated for the estrogen or should they level out once my thyroid is fixed? I am taking natural supplements for my adrenals and might want to try HC but I have heard not so good stories about it. Are there natural adrenal meds or how should I go abouts treating it?
1112541 tn?1286311213 Some herbal products (like soy isoflavones, red clover and some Chinese herbs) can act like estrogen in our bodies, and may not be safe for women who need to avoid estrogen. Also, there are some antidepressants that are supposed to be helpful for those of us who can't take the hormones, so that might be another option you could ask your doctor about. Take care!
