I have a rash on my left hand ring finger that has been there since Thanksgiving 2008. It is not caused by my wedding ring as I haven't worn it since Thanksgiving 2008 when the rash first showed up. The rash started off with one or two small, pimpley bumps that were itchy. Then it dried out really badly, making my skin peel and crack. The pimpley bumps came back and spread down to the base between the two fingers (ring and pinky), and spread up to the middle knuckle.
I have developed a single bump under my wedding ring. It feels a little like a pimple, but it never comes to a head. I have tried soaking my finger in warm salt water with no relief. Could it be more like a corn or callous? What can I do to remedy the problem. I am a teacher and wash my hands many times a day. I try to dry under my rings as best as possible.
Please help...
if u wrap cotton tightly around your finger so there are no gaps about half a cm upward of ur ring and then put the end of the cotton underneath the ring...
I just remembered i had the same irritation under my ring on my ring finger and had to stop wearing my ring. when i stopped wearing it the irritation went away and as you mention it was painful also but i never tested for whitlow so i really dont know what caused it. maybe an allergic reaction to the gold.
My engagement ring and wedding band are platinum with diamonds and my hubby's ring is platinum with a gold piece through the middle. I have no gold on mine. As long as my hubby's ring says "I'm taken" and I've got a nice diamond, I'm happy.
Thank you. I will ask my doctor about this. It really has become obsessive with the itching to the point I do it in my sleep bc I wake up and have some bleeding. My fingers are swollen from this. Not that I want to remove them but my wedding ring won't move past the knuckle. I really hope it helps.
I bought a new band when pregnant (in the same, braided design as the old one) and wore it instead of my old one. The doctor was asking if I had any swelling and looked at my hand and said, "Oh, I see you haven't, you're still wearing your wedding ring." I was amused he would make that assumption since new wedding rings are certainly available. The only thing I wouldn't have done is gone without any ring when visibly pregnant.
I never took off my wedding ring with my first. But then again my fingers didn't swell up. They are a perfect fit. Now pregnant with baby #2 and im not taking them off as well. My doc said if u feel comfortable leave them on if not take them off. But leave them on wount make ur finger fall off lol exept if your fingers really swell up.
I suddenly remembered my grandmother had a latinum wedding ring because she got a rash under gold when it touched her skin. So you're right, maybe it's just me adn nothing to do with bart or lyme. Though it does seem odd that it suddenly flared up in the middle of a bart flare up.
The ring I had a rash from was silver. Sterling silver so should contain very little or no base metal.
So my belly itches all the time and so does my finger where i wear my ring ( yes its real gold). I try not to scratch i mostly just rub my belly or remove my ring. however, i've noticed where it itches on my belly i will get bright red patches and it will seem really irritated. eczema does run in my family but i have never had it. im 32 weeks along i figured if something like this was to come during pregnancy it would have earlier not this late.
For the last six months I keep getting some sort of infection on my ring finger where my wedding bands are. It is a ring all the way around my finger that is red in color, itchy, sometimes there are clear fluid filled blisters, and then when it starts to heal it becomes dry and peels. I was told by my jeweler that it was a fungus and to put rubbing alcohol on it several times a day. That works but it keeps coming back and I am cleaning my rings regularly.
