Common Questions and Answers about Eczema treatment hair

eczema

Avatar n tn Hello, In most cases of eczema no one treatment will be effective. Medical research shows that the most effective treatment plan for eczema involves using a combination of therapies to treat the skin and making lifestyle changes(prevention of triggers and application of lots of moisturizers) to control flare-ups. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid which are available by prescription.
Avatar f tn My son had it at well.
Avatar m tn I have eczema in my eyebrow/upper cheek on the left side of my face. I used to have dandruff, but it has essentially cleared after using zinc shampoo a few times a week. But the skin is still greasy under my brow and on my eyelid, which results in hairs being weak and falling out. Any suggestions to clear up the greasy skin? I've tried hydrocortisone cream, but to little avail. Also, the condition seems to worsen after a night of drinking alcohol - is that part of the problem?
Avatar n tn I suggest you to get the diagnosis confirmed from a dermatologist after examination. Steroids is one of the best treatment for eczema but it should be used only under medical supervision as it can cause skin thinning and atrophy. For the itching you can take antihistaminics like Benadryl or levocetrizine. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
3093770 tn?1389739126 I had a hair cut and the hairdressed told me that I have some eczema on my skin. Today I feel the skin behind my ears very sensitive and dry/ rough. It hurts a bit. It is impossible for me to look at it due to its position but I guess it has to do with the meds Soooo, I have lots of creams for other areas but what to do for the scalp? Is not that I can put Aveeno on it Any ideas, suggestions?
Avatar n tn I am a Hair stylist. I get these tiny littl blisters on my hands and i used to think it was an allergic reaction to the chemicals. I wear gloves while using chemicals but it seems like it gets better when i take time off work. I recently was told(not by a professional) that it could be Anhidrotic Ecxyma if so, is there a cure that will allow me to continue to work as a hair stylist? I got a steroid shot that really helped but i dont think i could get those regularly, could I?
Avatar n tn Try using t gel by neutrogena, that does sound like psorosis. T gel is very helpful, and it's not expensive I use it because I get acne on my scalp from using hair spray And it works wonders even though it is made for psorosis. It's main ingredient is coal tar so it doesn't smell pleasant but it's worth a try. Also if you had lice you'd see it crawling.
681148 tn?1437661591 I have tried everything I can think of. My scalp is dry and itchy. It sometimes has eczema or dermatitits in addition to this problem. I've added healthy oils to my hair and scalp and left them in. In a short time, my hair is back to its dry, dull and frizzy self. I'm at my wits end with this. I have loads of allergies, so I'm careful as far as that goes. I don't wash more than once every week or every other week.
1281453 tn?1275894600 Hello, From the symptoms the possibility of eczema needs to be ruled out. Eczema is a form of chronic dermatitis (rash).Allergic reaction is one of the important causes of eczema. Apply calamine lotion and take some antihistaminics like Benadryl. If the symptoms persist then topical steroids may be needed. For this please consult a dermatologist. Also keep it well moisturized as eczema can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin.
Avatar m tn When you mention head, what comes to thought is hair product or hair dye or formulas to blend-in grey hair, etc. Just some thoughts as I read thru your post.

Avatar m tn Hello, From the symptoms it can be due to dandruff, allergic reaction, contact dermatitis or eczema. Eat a healthy diet. You can also take vit B6 and vit A and E which are good for hair and skin. Try medicated shampoos for dandruff. There are a number of over-the-counter shampoos available that can help. The most effective ingredients -- antimicrobials -- to look for are zinc pyridinethione, selenium sulfide, sulfur and ketoconazole (also available by prescription).
Avatar n tn Fordyce spots are a variant of sebaceous glands (the glands that normally produce sebum and are usually found within hair follicles). Fordyce spots are sebaceous glands without hair follicles. They are present in 80-95% of adults. Fordyce spots are generally harmless and do not require any treatment. In your case, it seems more like an allergic reaction or eczema, probably in response to the medications that you might have taken for the sinusitis.
Avatar n tn It is always better to see your doctor who can diagnose and prescribe appropriate treatment for you. Treatment depends upon the cause of the rash; antibacterial or antifungal ointments can be prescribed by the doctor. Do keep us posted on the outcome.
Avatar f tn I have one very small section near the front of my head where I have just noticed a small area of hair loss. The area is only a couple of centimeters. The scalp in that section is slightly pink compared to the rest of my scalp. It has been itchy for the past few weeks. Thankyou for your help - it is greatly appreciated. 7583845 tn?1392261094 After 3-4 weeks of treatment we were noticing that the rash seemed to be spreading whenever we stopped the cream so we followed up with his pediatrician. His pediatrician wasn't so sure that it was eczema. She mentioned contact dermatitis (I thought that was the same as eczema) and prescribed ketoconazole and westcort 1% to be applied Twice a day. We discontinued the steroid and started the new treatment.
Avatar m tn I have been getting painful bumps. First on my Ears, then my hands and then my feet, some are larger, others smaller, initially it was thought that there were cysts on my ears but that was later ruled out by a physician. They are red in color ,they itch, sometimes burn, cause me pain and swelling as well as. Heat seems to increase the pain and swelling but oddly cold relieves the pain and swelling.
Avatar f tn If there are flesh colored bumps then they can possibly be Keratosis Pilaris. Keratosis Pilaris is a genetic condition. The bumps are hair follicles clogged with a naturally-occurring hard protein called keratin that protects the skin. Another possibility is guttate psoriasis which causes small, red, and scaly teardrop-shaped spots on the arms, legs, and middle of the body. Few other possibilities could be allergies, eczema, fungal infection etc.
Avatar n tn External causes include excessive use of hair sprays and gels, improper use of hair-coloring products, cold weather and dry indoor heating, infrequent shampooing of the hair or inadequate rinsing of the scalp and hair. Eat a healthy diet. You can also take vit B6 and vit A and E which are good for hair and skin. Try medicated shampoos for dandruff. There are a number of over-the-counter shampoos available that can help.
