Hello, There are many causes of eyebrow hair loss.It can be due to alopecia, autoimmune disorders, eczema, fungal infections, hormone imbalances, lupus erythematosus, over plucking ,infections, psoriasis, seborrhea, scleroderma, thyroid problems or due to use of certain medicines or chemotherapy. It is important to get all these conditions evaluated as treatment depends on the confirmation of diagnosis.I sincerely advise you to consult a dermatologist. Hope it helps.
Endocrine Disease/Imbalance , Infections, Autoimmune Disorders and Inflammation from “Common Skin Conditions” like Seborrhea, Psoriasis, Atopic Dermatitis/Eczema, Contact Dermatitis. Eyebrows can be affected just like any other hair if a medication is known to cause hair loss.
Does anyone have red eyebrows with their Lyme disease? I have a horn like redness that runs through my eyebrows like a unibrow. I do not rub, pluck or do anything that would irritate the area, and it does not hurt or itch. It does come and go however, and I occasionally cover it with makeup when it is very obvious. I haven't seen it on a checklist for Lyme, but I also haven't seen it listed as a symptom for anything else.
I have eczema in my eyebrow/upper cheek on the left side of my face. I used to have dandruff, but it has essentially cleared after using zinc shampoo a few times a week. But the skin is still greasy under my brow and on my eyelid, which results in hairs being weak and falling out. Any suggestions to clear up the greasy skin? I've tried hydrocortisone cream, but to little avail. Also, the condition seems to worsen after a night of drinking alcohol - is that part of the problem?
The area that is heaviest in rashes are the chin and nose, with a slight touch on each ear and over both eyebrows. My blood tests showed no infections, and no stds. I've been with one partner for over a decade. I am told that this condition is stubborn. I've been prescrived prednisolone in a low dose, Steroid cremes, and ketoconozole. I don't know if the week of ketoconozole has worked, but the skin discolorations are still there.
I've suddenly had loss of hair in my eyebrows. My skin feels dry and somewhat itchy. What can I do?
Hello, I'm a 28 yr old male and have noticed over the past few months that the end of my left eyebrow is thinning. I've also noticed over the past year or so that the some of the eyebrow hairs are changing from dark brown to blonde (on both eyebrows). I've been very slowly losing the hair on my scalp for 6 - 7 yrs now, typical male battern baldness. I've had my thyroid checked during a recent checkup and it was normal. Any idea what could be causing this? Thank You.
Hey, for the last few years I've been suffering from a condition in which the skin in my left eyebrow is very flaky. It looks like dandruff, is incredibly itchy, and seems to only show when the hair gets wet. Specifically, I'll take a shower in the morning and the eyebrow will look much worse than it did before the shower, very flaky and with dandruff. The skin is greasy and red patches appear sometimes. I've used dandruff shampoo, which seems to help somewhat but won't cure it completely.
I've had this eyebrow rash for almost a month now and don't know exactly what to do about it. The rash also extends across my forehead and on both sides of my face. I've been tested for all std's and nothing came up. Does anyone know what this could be....I'm starting to get worried?
I do have facial edema which fluctuates from hard, to pitting, to space which seems just air filled. At first I thought my eyebrows were sinking because the skin layer with the root was much lower than the surface layer(s) and the hair remained in interstitial space. What I have determined though is that the (thick) skin also seems to be rapidly regenerating and growing over the brows--this is how they first started to "disappear" back in February.
Hello, Without examination, confirming a diagnosis is tough but some of the possibilities for your symptoms are dermatitis or eczema, seborrheic dermatitis ,fungal infections of the eyebrows and eyelashes or systemic diseases like diabetes or peripheral nerve diseases. Ketoconazole containing anti-fungal shampoos control the symptom if fungal infection is suspected.Dermatitis like seborrheic or atopic may require steroids. It is also important to get blood sugar levels estimated.
Eczema does not cause hair loss, certainly not on the eyebrows. Eyebrow loss is most often part of alopecia areata, a hair loss condition not related to eczema. I can't tell what you have, or whether you have more than one unrelated thing. I am therefore glad you are seeing a dermatologist, who can sort thin gs out. There is no need to order blood tests in advance. As for questions, you should ask the same ones you asked me, and the skin doctor can ask others if needed. Best. Dr.
He is also losing eyebrows too. He's been suffering from eczema since he was a baby. Doctor prescribed medications for his eczema and ointment and has taking some antibiotics and some other medications orally but it seems nothing is working. His eyes and that general area is all swollen and has red rashes all over his forehead. Of course they ithcy like heck. We did blood test too just in case but nothing came up. He is as healthy as a normal teen age boy can be.
The scrotum seems to be a little red and dry on both sides and dark in the middle. I do have eczema on my face around my nose, eyebrows, and forehead, and at the time that this occured, my eczema has been going on strong, and my asthma has also been acting up. I just moved from the bay area to las vegas, which is very hot and dry, and also the water softner in my house had just broke around the same time this started to occur, so the water leaves my skin real dry.
1. eyebrows falling out 2. nummular eczema (coin shaped) which started on left foot one month ago and now one month later i am finding new small patches cropping up all over body 3. It feels like my skin is crawling. After I get out of the shower it gets worse. 4. getting a crop of small hives usually in the exact same places that appear and disappear (on stomach and back) and usually I've seen them when getting out of the shower.
From the symptoms it can be due to fungal infection, eczema, atopic dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis or contact dermatitis. Eczema is a form of chronic dermatitis (rash).Allergic reaction is one of the important causes of eczema. I suggest you to get a KOH examination of the skin scrapings and a biopsy skin done to confirm the diagnosis. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Your description is consistent with eczema, not fungus. Eczema comes and goes, is indeed "rashy," and fluctuates with no pattern. Environmental matters (food, soaps) rarely contribute in a meaningful way. I cannot make any sense of your post-Zithromax episode. In my experience, Elidel doesn't work very well for extensive cases like yours. A key is to have a large enough supply of a topical steroid cream, so you can put it on wherever you need it.
I have a rash between my eyebrows. I was on an antacid, protoix, from August to late Feburary. One the rash started I have stopped the antacids. Went to a dermatologist in late feburary that dismissed it as acne and gave me a prescription for some face cream(clindamycin) and an antibotic called tytreciclyn. I have not taken the oral antibotic because in early January my dentist gave me powerful antibotic for tooth extraction. The rash at time may flare up depending what I eat or take.
My husbands scalp and eyebrows flake all over everything! Dandruff shampoo does not work. He use to get large red rash spots all over his torso and scalp when he was in extreme heat, now he flakes from the scalp and eyebrows all the time, but the red rashes have not shown up in a couple of years. I dont know if the two problems could be related. Help please.
Hello, I have been dealing with an inflammed, itchy, red rash above my eyebrows for about a year now. I have SLE (Lupus) and it was originally thought that this was part of the malar rash I have on my cheeks. However, I believe it to be something else since it is itchy and does not go away as frequently as the malar rash.
I get a similiar red rash that randomly appears between my eyebrows, sometimes my eyebrows will even flake. It doesn't hurt or itch but is noticeable and like you mine disappears on its own. I was told I had Seborreic Dermatitis. Its considered autoimmune. It seems to appear when I am stressed. Hope it helps. If this is it, its not harmful but rather a nuisance.
Hi, back in the fall I started getting red burning and itchy skin around my nose and in my eyebrows and between my nose and upper lip. First I tried to use a moisturizer, but this did not do anything. Next, since I was at college, I had my mom talk to my dermatologist and my dermatologist said to use Hydrocortisone cream 1%. I used this, and it worked very effectively, but what I did not know was that it was bad to use this over a large period of time.
Chuck: What you describe sounds like a form of facial eczema, with mild hypopigmentation (lessening of color.) This is treatable and temporary. Why not apply 1% hydrocortisone (OTC) twice a day for 2 weeks. That should get rid of the eczema and make the skin smooth. The pigment should return in 1 or 2 months. If it doesn't, see a dermatologist. Best. Dr.
we watch our son get progressively worse the patches spread throughout his face and became dry, thick and flaky all the wayup to the beginnings of his ears, eyebrows, and into his scalp. we called the derm and she said it was to be expected. ................... on our routine 6 month visit our pediatrician was insistant that it was possibly atopic dermatitis. and prescribed keflex, zyrtec, hydrocortisone, and elanil.
The skin under my eyebrow and above my upper lip has become very dry and flaky.I have never had this problem before, and none of my immediate family has any Eczema or bad skin problems.I'm not sure what to treat it with, because some creams/lotions have only irritated it and made a burning sensation.I'm not sure what to do at all.Any help?? Oh and I'm only 13 years old.
About 4 months the middle section of hair in each of her eyebrows started thinning. Now it looks like some one removed the hair in a straight horizontal line through the middle of each eyebrow and now the edges of the eyebrow are thinning also. There is no redness are signs of infection and she appears fine in all other ways. Can this be part of her body preparing to start menstruation? Or should I be more concerned?
I think this might have triggered it! I never had eczema before Accutane. I've been to several to see my eczema since. Biopsies, cancer screenings, Elidel, multiple steroid creams, lots of anti-fungal creams and even sprays. Nothing has worked... except: TANNING. If I bake my skin in the tanning bed for 10 minutes/day.. for around 4 days... this rash disappears! The issue being: I have a history of skin cancer in my family. I'm pale and of irish/norwegian decent. Is this even eczema?
I've had eczema in my ears for 15 yrs. It is very cyclical, starting w/intense uncontrollable itching, then clear fluid leaking from skin, followed by crusting over & flaking of skin in ears that is itchy in & of itself, leading to more scratching & picking at ears. The skin in my ears gets very damaged and ratty during outbreaks. I also have swelling of the ear canal after these itch/scratch episodes that are sometimes quite painful, & Motrin helps that.
