Please call the Vet and get your kitty there ASAP. If cats stop eating for even just a few days it can also upset their liver. You need to have him checked for kidney issues. The first sign is increased thirst. Don't ignore that. I just went thru this.

There is no way to know. It progresses slowly in some cats, quicker in others. That Buddy is eating well and not in any distress is a good sign. I wish there were a more definitive answer but there just isn't any way to know.
