Xanax (bars) are 2mg tablets shaped like a rectangle and scored into four 1/2mg sections. For the average person new to the drug, 2mg will probably make you very looped and/or put you to sleep.

You need to speak to your OBGYN about this immediately. Xanax is a category D drug which means it is known to cause birth defects. It also can be dangerous to you and baby to abruptly discontinue use depending on amount and length of use. I'm not trying to scare you, I just want you to know how serious this could potentially be. We know he has been on it for four years so yes, tolerance maybe in case. An addicted would have upped it or tried too, less than a year off being on it. This guy wants to go to C.B.T.

I have Xanax 1 mg tabs (taken 2 tabs 2x daily) I am using to taper off of the drug but prefer the 2 mg bars for some reason. They seem to make it easier somehow. Is it appropriate to ask someone to trade that lives in my area? I have extra of the 1 mg and extra Valium so it would be worth your while. I cannot get a hold of the Dr to change the script as she's next to impossible to contact. Please accept my apologies if this is the sort of thing I should not be posting on this site.

My friend is pretty much self-medicating himself using a therapists help for prescriptions, and I'm worried about the interactions/addictiveness. Do you abuse the xanax? Do you want to come off it? I am not sure what the long term recommendations are, but I do know for SURE that you cannot just stop taking it. If you want to come off - its got to be slow and steady with xanax. Its dangerous to just stop. Talk to your doctor about a long slow taper. Anything is possible and you can certainly come off of it if you want to, just make sure to do a proper long and slow taper. Good luck.

hes testing for abuse of the drug. Xanax is a controlled substance and doctors records are reviewed by DEA. There are alternate drugs for tremors from graves disease.

Xanax bars, (aka: xani's, bars) are pills of the drug Xanax (alprazolam is the generic and chemical name for the drug) and the pill is usually white and rectangular shaped and contains 2mg of the drug. Xanax is made in strengths of .25, .5, 1, and 2 mg. A common dosage for a person taking Xanax would be .5mg's 3 to 4 times per day. I was taking 2 2mg pills (or bars) per day or 4mg's total which is a ton and it took years to get my tolerance that high!!

Since March 1st, Im recently down to 10mg a day of methadone. I do take xanax once a day and 1 trazadone at night. Pysch RNP wants to add Lamictal 25mg 2x a day. Will the Lamictal send me into withdrawals? Im scared to go thru withdrawals again.

You may get better information on the substance Abuse forum ,however I blame the prescribing Doctor here it is well known that Xanax is addictive and good Docs will not prescribe it for more than a few weeks because of this..

im 19 years old and I've been on xanax the .5 ones but im not sure for about 4 months. i got prescribed them because i went to my doctor complaining of panic attacks, hyper ventilation, and chest pains. well i'm out of pills and i'm not sure but i think im going through withdrawals. first day it was pretty easy but after i woke up the next morning my whole body ached i had a massive head ache and i was extremely depressed.

I understand completely what you are going through. My mother has been a prescription drug abuser for as long as I can remember. She needs thrives for attention constantly. My father completely enables her; because he's been henpecked their entire marriage; there has been times when he's faked an illness just so she can have it so that he doesn't have to deal with it. I have 7 brothers and sisters and we all left by the age of 18 because of this.

I took like 2x 2mg xanax a day for 7 days, with 2x 24hr breaks in that week, and I felt noticeably worse (especially the restlessness) than I had the previous days. I am on day 3 with no xanax and day 12 with no opiates and I can feel the xanax withdrawal is almost gone by now.

s true your Xanax was stolen and you have no record of drug abuse, your doctor should just give you a new script for the Xanax. This can be a dangerous drug to just stop if you're taking it regularly, so they should be amenable to getting you some more quickly.

I agree 100% with Paxiled. I too would recommend perhaps finding another doctor, or rethinking this regimen with your current one. Otherwise, I'm pretty confident you're going to find yourself in a real pickle. I also have some concerns based on the verbiage you use. I've never heard anyone who doesn't have a knowledge of drugs in an abuse/addiction context call Xanax "bars". Also the "upper" and "downer" references raise an eyebrow.

my oldest son...who i dont talk about that much...is addicted to xanax. he pops them by the handfuls...and i mean handfuls. he is trying to wean himself down...slowly...but i am worried about him. he and his family are moving to my condo in taos, new mexico in about a month. he will not have access to his pain management doctor anymore...good AND bad. he will not have time to slowly taper off these and i'm worried. excuse my stupidity...but...

Could someone please tell me how much zanax withdraw i will--- i take around 2 bars a week in the following way-- take half a bar for 3 or 4 days in a row and then no xanax for 3 or 4 days in a row---My doctor does not know i am taking xanax and i want to stop--i am prescribed 50 mg zoloft--900 mg triliptal--300 mg seroquil and 24 mg.

I was taking 1 mg of Xanax since 2 months.My Pdoc suggested me to reduce the Xanax dose by 0.125 mg (1/2 tab of 0.25 mg) every week for 8 weeks and stop it totally after 8 weeks.This med has to be tapered slowly or you might suffer horrible withdrawal symptoms.You could taper it even more slowly over 16 weeks by reducing it by 0.125 mg ever 2 weeks if you like.
