I've been taking 500mg. of Levaquin for 4 days for a uti. Nasty side effects. I wanted to know if I can cut the pills in half. Would taking 250mg. be as effective? All the symptoms of my uti are gone. I was supposed to take the pills for 7 days and I stopped after 4 because of side effects.
Had an UTI and hence was put on levaquin. After the 8th day of taking levaquin, i had the problem of not able to swallow food.. Stopped levaquin and UTI went away. Since then, i had a feeling that something is stuck in throat and particularly at nites, i was not able to sleep properly. had mylanta and prilosec and the situation got improved.. doctor recommended aciphex and currently i am on that..
after taking Levaquin 500 mg for 2 days I had a sudden onset of stiffness at inner rt thigh. after 1 hr could not put any weight on rt leg. numb spots bilateral calves. I stopped Levaquin and contacted my dr. who changed the antibiotic and told me to take motrin for the inflammation and explained that tendon rupture was rare on Levaquin. This is day 4 I'm walking with a slight limp due to stiffness inner thigh and weight bearing.
Hopefully someone else will come on with more information than I have about Levaquin, but what it sounds like to me is that you had or have, a hypersensitive reaction to it. I am NOT a doctor, so that is just a guess on my part. What did the ER docs say? That all your tests came back normal should be very reassuring to you, but I know how frightened you must have been! I trust you have been back to the prescribing doctor and told him/her what you went through!
Unfortunately I had to start a course of Levaquin for a sinus infection and UTI. I am scheduled to complete the course of Levaquin on Tuesday, February 5. Is it safe to try to get pregnant on Friday, February 8. I have not started any prenatal vitamins, is it foolish to start prenatal vitamins along with the Levaquin or should I have been taking these a few months beforehand?
Yes, before I became allergic to the stuff I did recall feeling quite a bit of joint pain with that class of medication. I used to take care of patients who were placed on levaquin for infection and noted that they would sometimes get what we nurses called "The Levaquin Shuffle". The affected patients would walk in a shuffle and complain of joint pain especially in the knees.
In my case, yes, the pain did go away after a bit.
35 yr old male. with a history of UTI's, approx 2/yr. Symptoms were slight sensitivity in lower abdomen but no burning during urination - I know the feeling so went to the doc very early. Urine test at doc's was negative. Prescribed Levaquin 250mg 1/day for 14 days. On my last incidence, approx. 6 months ago, went to doc with same symptoms, based on physical exam doc confirmed prostatitis (slight enlarged and "squishy"), prescribed antibiotics.
t hurt, but afterwards there can be a slight stinging sensation. Reading up on symptoms I can either have a UTI or gonorrhea.
I'm a 31 female and have had 20 uti's in the past 2yr. Recently I had 3 uti's in one month. Each uti becomes more painful than the last (dysuria, pain in lower abd). I have cultures done on all UA's and all result in lacotbacilli growth only. I have tried a daily dose of macrobid, urination after sex, increase in fluid intake, cranberry tabs, and every thing else that my doctor has told me to do.
now its been 4 days i have been off of them an i got a rally bad sore blister in the roof of my mouth an i have broke out with folicallictitus i feel like i am getting a UTI an i also have been constipated an now my blood pressure is high i am on edge my nerves is bad i dont know what to do..please if anyone has had r knows anyone who has had simaler effects let me know i feel like i am goin crazy.. u was perfectly fine before takeing this drug...
Wouldn't the dose of levaquin knock that out?
Tussionex should not cause this type of a reaction. It is possible that the Lavaquin did if you felt any kind of swelling of the throat. You can call the prescribing doctor and/or the pharmacist to ask about symptoms of an allergic reaction.
I would be more likely to think that it was acid reflux from the Levaquin. Many antibioitics cause reflux. Levaquin is a strong one and is known to cause problems.
So I had unprotected sex with a woman about two weeks ago. I got symptoms that resemble chlamydia or gonorrhea (frequent urination, weird feelin in the tip of my penis) so I took levaquin 750mg tabs once a day for five days. Is that enough levaquin to knock out either of those stds? I'm still gettin the urge to urinate frequently and now I'm wondering could it be some kind of bladder infection? Any help is appreciated greatly.
In 2007 chronic UTIs started (all with positive U&C >100,000) for various bacteria: mostly E coli, but also staph, strep, E hermanos, kleb pneu, citro koseri. So far, 13 episodes in past year. Pain in groin, flank prior to and at onset of UTI & fatigue. Only had 2-3 UTIs ever before 2007. Also small kidney stone L mid-kidney, 2mm CT diag 2008; (Nov 09 renal scan 4mm). Various antibiotics (adverse reactions w/numerous meds when trying low dose preventative therapy.
I've been on 500mg. of Levaquin for 4 days and I'm having difficulty breathing. Not all the time at times it's just hard to catch my breath without doing anything too physical. Has anyone else had this side effect?
