l have been taking Xalatan for a year and there has'nt been any side effects except my eyes feeling a bit dry l have developed some floaters but my doctor says it most likley has nothing to do with the xalatan ,
but the past few weeks it has been starting to sting or feel a bit , sometimes l put in two drops at a time instead of one , could putting too much in cause this soreness, is there an eye drop such as a lubricant eye drop l could take that relieves the soreness.
Hi, my doctor would like me to have SLT in one eye (has a test) to lower my IOP (Xalatan is not enough apparently)...
I've red a couple of studies on SLT and some pretend that SLT is coutner indicated for Juvenile glaucoma (it could raise IOP instead of lowering it)
I'm 31 years old...

IM NOT SURE BUT I MAY HAVE TAKEN THE COSOPT THREE TIMES A DAY FOR 2 OR 3 DAYS IN A 4 MONTH SPAN.I ALSO TAKE XALATAN ONCE A DAY IF I ACCCIDENTALLY DID TWO TIMES A DAY IN A 4 MONTH SPAN WOULD ALL THIS BE OK.IM STARTING TO SCHEDULE TIS SO I USE HE CORRECT DOSAGE BUT IM JUST CURIOUS THANKS FOR YOUR TIME.
The trick is you have to submit a hardship form along w/application. Call them at (800) 707-8990 and tell them you have Medicare and they will send the form with the application. You don't have to be in the coverage gap. Also call if you don't have insurance.
Xalatan is similar to Travatan or Lumigan--these are used 1st line often these days.

Have used Xalatan for several years with no rash. Added Trusopt 1 year ago and about 3 months ago I started with a rash on eyelids. Dermatologist treated for contact dermatitis Fluticasone Propionate cream with little result. Opthamologist treated for blepharitis with an antibiotic cream and eyelid wash, again no relief. I tried using Xalatan in AM rather than at nite, no change. Tried just Trusopt AM and early PM, no change.
Your glaucoma could worsen if you stop taking the medications for a year.

I have retina detachments in both eyes after surgeries I had eye pressure problems but on last visit to doctor on wednesday my eye pressure were normal 14 (Right eye) and 9 (Left Eye) I am using using Cospt, Alphagan, Xalatan( Twice a day and Pilocarpine 2% six hourly.

Also, what is the longest amount of time you've ever had a patient on Xalantan before tolerance is built up? He said the higher the number the worse it is and in the past ten years l have gone from a 2 to a 4. l am not sure what he means by going from 2 to 4 can you explain what that means ,how bad is a 4. l am in AUstralia so it might be a different system.
l had SLT laser yesterday , my eye was red for day and it cleared up, l will see him in 4 weeks and he will tell me if its been succesful in lowering the pressure .
I am still on xalatan once a day. The blurred vision occured during the night for about 2 or 3hours. Dont usually have a problem with eye sight not shortsighted or longsighted. Rang consultant said it was unusual and cant have been because of the pressure rising as had laser treatment but they are fully booked and has made me an appointment for monday 4 days from now. Any ideas as to what caused it and if i should see somene earlier??
I have been using Xalatan for the last 6 months for my eye pressure which was 23 and now is around 17.
Over the last 3-4 weeks I have eye pain in one of the eyes, consistent dull ache. I visited my Optho and had eye dilated and checked and everything looks fine. He changed the drops to Travatan. But the pain is still present after using travatan for like 2 weeks. What else can be the cause? What else should I try to find out?

If glaucoma is involved, I would have a complete work up by a glaucoma specialist with his advice. Cataract surgery may have a positive affect on eye pressure but increases your chances of retinal detachment.
I lost the sight during retinal detachment surgery following cataract surgery. My optic nerve did not survive the surgery because of advanced glaucoma. A fact casually omitted to me prior to my cataract and retinal detachment surgery .
I was diagnosed with glaucoma four years ago and was immediately put on Xalatan once a day both eyes. Two years later was taken off Xalatan and put on Cosopt & Alphagan, twice a day, Lumigan once a day, both eyes. For the past two years my diopter went from -4.00 both eyes, to -9.50 left eye, -7.00 right eye, as of today, in steady progression. I can already tell I'm probably not seeing 20/40 presently and need stronger contacts.
About 8% of the population if placed on steroid eye drops or ointments have a increase of pressure often dramatic. The pressure generally goes away after the steroid is stopped within days to weeks, in few cases in several months and very very rarely does not go away at all.
Steroid "responders" are more common in patients with a family history of glaucoma.
l will mention this to my eye doctor when l see him in two months, l think l read its normal to have one eye not as sharp as the other or could this be something to worry about or related to glaucoma , l am 46 years old and dont use glasses could it just be a case of ageing, also l have recently had problems with dry eye from glaucome eye drop[s could it be due to that.
