In Type 2 diabetes the signs and symptoms may not be so obvious, as the condition develops slowly over a period of years and may only be picked up in a routine medical check up. Avatar m tn These could be signs of diabetes, but could be other things as well, including Depression. If you also have increased thirst and urination that would make diabetes more likely. However you most certainly can ask your doctor to do a blood glucose test and then you will know for sure and not have to worry.

The simple tests are explained here: http://diabetes.webmd.com/blood-glucose I also Google'd "hereditary diabetes" and came up with 2.25 million hits.
Avatar f tn Numbness in your right toes and your right hand are Diabetes symptoms for full blown T2 called neuropathic complications. If you are not sure if you are already a T2 then, the most inexpensive and quickest way to find out if you are an T2, go buy a Diabetes self test kit called A1C NOW, made by Bayer, at Wal-mart or at Walsgreen for $29.99. Within 10 minutes after the test, you'll see the results. Or set up an appointment to see a neurologist.
Avatar f tn What are the symptoms and signs? How early does it show in your pregnancy? I've looked up in prenatal books and sites and all the answers vary. I'm just wondering from someone who has actually had it, what your experience was.
Avatar m tn Thanks for using the forum. The usual symptoms of diabetes are frequent urination, thirst, blurred vision, feeling tired, cuts/bruises that are slow to heal, frequent infections and numbness and tingling in the distal extremities. Some of these match up with the symptoms that you are experiencing. However, your symptoms are also common with many other ailments. I would suggest seeing your doctor.

When we first got him about 6 months ago he would eat anything and everything you put in front of him. Now he has gotten to where he will hardly eat anything but he drinks constantly. Avatar n tn I believe you are probably inquiring about your numbness because of neuropathy which is normally related to type 1 or 2 diabetes. Your symptoms are obviously a cause for concern and I would seek out doctors who can give you a proper diagnoses. I can't believe that you have been going through this for 15 years without an answer. I don't know if it is a circulation problem or something else.

Avatar m tn my husband had signs and symptoms of diabetes for 15years before he went to see a doctor. After all the usual tests it was confirmed and he has started on medication. He has diabetic retinopathy for which he is getting treatment and regular B12 injections and the doctor has given him all the usual checks. He last saw him in July last year but has seen the nurse for a blood test twice and his b12 injections. My worry is that he hates going to the doctor but he is getting increasingly weak .
Avatar n tn My 9 year old may be showing a few signs of juvenile diabetes, such as headaches, fatigue, behavioral changes/mood swings, persistant hunger; sometimes she's sweaty, then can quickly become very cold. Bouts of blurry vision and "itchy" sensations during her temperment changes. Daily feelings of nausea (always early morning pre-meal and just before bed), particularly over the last month. Sleep at night seems to be relatively undisturbed.
Avatar n tn I have a 3 year old. Lately she has been showing signs of diabetes. I took her to the doctor and she tested 180, but she had not ate in over 3 hours. That was about 2 months ago. She is still showing signs, frequent urination (and in a large amount), starved to death, cant get enough to drink, not gaining weight, and just really cranky and fussy. I was at my grandma's house earlier today and she tested my child's blood. It had been over 3 hours since she ate and her sugar was 213.
