Avatar m tn I broke my nose years back and have a deviated septum and possibly some other structural differences in my nose. After the test I noticed that they put the swab in through the nostril that I have trouble breathing through. Could this affect whether the swab can be inserted far enough back to get enough of a sample for the test?
Avatar n tn , morning headaches, anxiety, heart palpitations, uncoordinated food swallow (randomly gasp for air for no reason), constant front head pain/pressure for 3 years,, i have a deviated septum and the ENT also said my nasal mucosa looked inflammed and red, it has always been like this since my head pain started, my nose feels constantly blocked and very DRY not runny.
Avatar f tn I was on fluoxetine for over 6 years without any side effects, then i came off it for 6 months ,I then had to go back on it ,but it started to cause a stuffy blocked nose and ear and head pressure which then resulted in pain in and around the eye ,has anyone heard of this and has this happened to anyone else?
Avatar m tn Hello, thanks for taking my question. I'm sure as a doctor your time is quite limited, but is there any way you could take a peek at the webpage I made with my MRI images? (The coronal slices begain about halfway down the page): http://robsaysrelax.googlepages.
Avatar f tn i was told in a routine exam by ENT dr that i have a deviated septum(left nostril blocked-air comes out but not in!!) and that i have to have surgery to correct it. i can't say i have major issues with it. i sleep fine(hubby says i don't snore) and not with my mouth open like i've heard from other people. i have problems when i have a cold though and when i close my right nostril and try to breath in from my left i can't .
Avatar m tn t really dripping down my throat, rather just sitting in the back of my nose. It feels thick and I often have to snort in order to get it out. It is not discolored, just clear/milky white. I also have a bump on the bridge of my nose, which is where the pressure occurs. I'm wondering if I have a deviated septum. Are these even symptoms of a deviated septum? I haven't yet seen a doctor and am wondering if it is even necessary.
Avatar n tn My nose always feels blocked, I am constantly sniffing but if I blow my nose there isnt really much to blow out, and it kinda feels like the lining of my nose is dry and irritated. ANd i have postnasal drip and always get really bad coughs when ive been sick that can last for months. This is been for years, I had a CT and saw an ENT in 2008/9 who just said to use sinus rinses and saline spray and then a sterioidal spray if that doesnt work. I've tried the saline sprays and rinses.
538090 tn?1213808112 My husband had surgery for his deviated septum along with turbine reduction. It seems he broke his nose in highschool, while playing basketball, and didn't realize it. The tissue grew too much inside his nose and started to cause him to have several sinus infections over the years. The congestion your are getting may be due to the affected tissue swelling because of your flu or bronchitis. The surgery will help clear your breathing passage and give you some relief.
Avatar m tn About 3 years ago my sense of smell starting gradually getting worse and worse for no apparent reason and after living in a very polluted place for some time (Seoul, South Korea), last year my sense of smell finally went all together and I started to get regular pains around the top of my nose, nasal drip and a blocked and dry nose. A few months ago I was diagnosed with having a bad case of nasal inflammation owing to allergic rhinitus.
Avatar m tn t really do much at all, though, it still remains 90% blocked. A buddy of mine had a deviated septum and gone through surgery for it, and he's SO glad he got it done. He said that the surgery itself isn't painful, but the recovery is a bit painful - but, it's changed his everyday life 100% he says.
Avatar n tn This has caused me to see my GP and which he referred to a ENT. The ENT doc said I have a severe deviated septum. He said there would need to have surgery for this which I said Ok hopefully thats the issue but I have been experiencing headaches in the back of my head and upper neck while sometimes they show up at the top of my head. The headaches arent severe to the point where I am in pain but I do feel them. I am fearing the worst that it could be cancer or a tumor.
Avatar n tn I have a deviated septum and feeling of a constantly blocked nose, and my head pressure is absuloutely constant and diffuse frontal / forehead region.
Avatar n tn The nasal block could be due to a sinus infection, a cold or a chronic allergy. It could also be due to a deviated nasal septum or nasal polyps. Sinus infection causes blockage of flow especially when a person lies down. The blockade is affected by the side to which the person turns also. You will need to consult your primary care physician for proper assessment. In the meantime practice good breathing exercises, humidify your room and do steam inhalations.
Avatar m tn i was diagnosed year 2007 with severe deviated septum prior to this i have been experiencing some weird feelings about my health throughout my childhood , teenage and adolescent years. Let me share you my experiences about my health so you could enlighten me if those weird feelings are related to sinusitis/deviated septum as what i am thinking of or you might have experience the same thing.
4556201 tn?1356445652 Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. In Elementary school, I fractured my nose pretty bad. Then in my early teens, I realized I had a 'bump' on the bridge, & a deviated septum. The 'bump' is caused by 2 super sharp bones sticking out. (It's so extreme/sharp that family & friends I let touch it were *all* really shocked by it, & assured me it was*not* normal.
Avatar f tn The headaches were also on the left side due to pressure from the clogged nostril. He told me I had a deviated septum. I scheduled surgery that day because he said he could fix my problem and make it easier to breathe. Well he did make it easier to breathe out of the clogged side, but he moved the septum too far and now I cannot breathe out of what was my "good" side. My headaches are worse than they were before the surgery.
Avatar f tn I went back to the CT scan radiologist and said does that mean septum is straight as I cant have a deviated septum in 1998 and a central (straight ) septum in 2009. I was told the top Dr at the radiologist (In Australia) will look at the scan and advise me. So does central mean straight? I have had this sinus (icecream type headache) over my eyes and cheeks for about a month now. Sinus tablets and sprays hasnt helped.
1848431 tn?1319134150 I have had this problem for a while now. I have trouble breathing and my nose always feels clogged and I can't blow my nose for it to be cleared - I still feel blocked. I also have had many repetitive sore throats in the past years and recently it's worsened. I sound hoarse, there's always mucus in the back of my throat and it can smell a little bad too. I've had little tonsoliths but only experience this a couple times.
Avatar f tn Hey all, I'm getting slightly concerned about a lump on my nose. It's on the right side along the bridge. It's a few mm in size, but obviously on the nose it stands out a bit. Background information. I'm 27, Male, ex smoker. I have chronic sinusitis and a deviated septum, these will be operated on within the next couple of months so hopefully I'll be able to breathe again.
Avatar m tn All my life (or as far back as I remember) I've been anomsmic - I can't smell. An ENT sent me for a MRI which revealed that I have a deviated septum (although it's not visible when you look at my face). The ENT's response was that "it could" be this deviated septum that is causing the anosmia. "Could..." He wouldn't commit to a definite answer. But he was willing to perform surgery anyway!
Avatar m tn One side of my nose is blocked and will open if I change sides (deviated septum / have tried nasal strips and saline before bed). In short, I mostly get my rest okay, ......but I am tired of not having the freedom to sleep "anytime" I want. Once I get up in the morning, I don't rest until a set time late at night. Is spaying the Oasis down my throat each night safe to ingest for extended periods? Is it safe to up the dose of PrilosecOTC to 2 pills per day to see if it works?
