1329703 tn?1275158081 I have a deviated septum that was found when my allergy shots started working but I still couldn't breathe through my nose. I also have mild sinus issues with them clogging and a mild infection (normally my immune system gets it under control within a week or so). I have the surgery in a couple of weeks so I can't comment on the long term affects yet but I'm hopeful it will help!
Avatar f tn t want to have to keep getting surgery to correct my deviated septum. Is there any other options (besides nose sprays)?
Avatar n tn I know surgery is an option for the deviated septum. But will my nose ever not hurt again??? It also causes so much pressure in my ears that it has aggravated my TMJ. Sure wish I knew then what I know now...
Avatar f tn I got in to see the ENT dr a week ahead of schedule. I have chronic sinusitis, scars on both ears from past infections, and "fairly severe deviated septum,". He had trouble getting the scope up my nose, had to go to a smaller one. He put me on a "push" of prednisone, antibiotics, and Nasonex. Also scheduled a CT scan of sinus's in a month to see if infection is gone. Then he said we would decide what to do. My sx were a constant drippy nose, pressure in ears, headaches.
1452978 tn?1285110262 I constantly feel pressure around the bridge of my nose. And get sinus headaches alot. Has anyone had the sinus surgery and it helped the dizziness, off balance, and lightheaded feeling. I am have a deviated septum that is being correct. I am nervous I have never had surgery before but I am praying this takes care of the issues. Could someone please share their experiences with me, my surgery is Thursday. Thanks so much!
4556201 tn?1356445652 Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. In Elementary school, I fractured my nose pretty bad. Then in my early teens, I realized I had a 'bump' on the bridge, & a deviated septum. The 'bump' is caused by 2 super sharp bones sticking out. (It's so extreme/sharp that family & friends I let touch it were *all* really shocked by it, & assured me it was*not* normal.
Avatar m tn I have noticed that the sit of my nose where my deviated septum had been seems to still be significantly inflamed and that the generalized area around where the maxillary sinus would be hurts as well. Perhaps the most annoying, is the fact that my upper left molars kill. is this likely just residual inflammation from the surgery itself? i do know there was a good amount of infection in the left maxillary prior to my surgery, so wondering if this is just aggravated by the surgery.
Avatar n tn of that region even when im not in heaps of pain) and get frequent sinus infections, at least 4 a year. My nose always feels blocked, I am constantly sniffing but if I blow my nose there isnt really much to blow out, and it kinda feels like the lining of my nose is dry and irritated. ANd i have postnasal drip and always get really bad coughs when ive been sick that can last for months.
402205 tn?1230481005 I had a CT and it showed a lot of nasal congestion but very little sinus. It also showed a slightly deviated septum and nasal polyps on the middle turbinate. What do you suggest I do?
Avatar n tn So I went to the ENT today and had them stick that scope up my nose and apparently I have a pretty bad deviated septum ... he gave me a script for a nasal spray and an antibiotic but I'm not sure what the antibiotic is for, I don't like taking antibiotics if I don't have to so I'm hesitant to take that. He mentioned surgery but for the possible future ... I'm hoping the nasal spray will help the allergies and the post nasal drip ...
Avatar m tn ive been having sinus problems for months now i finally got results of my can scan and i dont know exactly what was said by heart..but i have a deviated septum, enlarged turbinates, puse is my left maxillary sinus, and i think she said an air pocket also..so im suppose to get surgery done in april..the 3 listed are septoplasty, endoscopic sinus, and turbinectomy..i have no problem with any of these except what i read about the turbinectomy when it comes to empty nose syndrome..
538090 tn?1213808112 My husband had surgery for his deviated septum along with turbine reduction. It seems he broke his nose in highschool, while playing basketball, and didn't realize it. The tissue grew too much inside his nose and started to cause him to have several sinus infections over the years. The congestion your are getting may be due to the affected tissue swelling because of your flu or bronchitis. The surgery will help clear your breathing passage and give you some relief.
Avatar f tn Might want to get an opinion from a ear, nose and throat doctor to see if breaking your nose has damaged your nose. It might have changed the deviated septum to a point that something should be done to fix it. Anything that is very painful and doesn't improve greatly within 24 hours should be seen by a doctor.
Avatar f tn My ENT also wanted ME to get surgery done for a deviated septum becuase I had chronic sinus infections...but I was able to get things under control with XLear (a saline nasal spray with xylitol, which is a natural antibacterial). Doc gave me this as a LAST resort after all steroid sprays were ineffective and caused headaches. Wish he would have given it to me first and I'm sure glad I didn't have surgery! I'm not a Dr. but my advice would be to look for other answers.
Avatar f tn Just read your posting from six months ago as I explore why I had a severely deviated septum and it struck a chord. I had septoplasty, sinus surgery and turbinate reduction two years ago and it was the best thing I had done for myself in years. Unfortunately, I did not realize my problem until I was in my early 50s after suffering countless sinus infections while dealing with severe environmental allergies that were all diminishing my quality of life.
Avatar n tn Hi, the most common cause for nasal obstruction is Deviated nasal septum (DNS). This condition leads to obstruction and breathing difficulty. This can lead to sinus infection, ear infection and headaches. Other possibilities are laryngeal web, asthma, any structural abnormalities in the nasal passage such as nasal polyps, hypertrophied turbinates etc. You need to undergo detailed examination of nose and radiography of the sinuses to rule out existing sinusitis.
Avatar m tn The common causes for such nasal blockage, including nasal polyps and sinus infection. Deviated nasal septum (DNS) can also leads to obstruction. The sinus infection also leads to headache. Another important but rare possibility is Sjögren's syndrome. This is a rare disorder and is also associated with dryness of mouth and eye. You need to undergo detailed examination of nose and radiography of the sinuses to rule out existing sinusitis.
Avatar m tn i was diagnosed year 2007 with severe deviated septum prior to this i have been experiencing some weird feelings about my health throughout my childhood , teenage and adolescent years. Let me share you my experiences about my health so you could enlighten me if those weird feelings are related to sinusitis/deviated septum as what i am thinking of or you might have experience the same thing.
Avatar f tn Yes. I had the septoplasty in 2005. The deviated septum came back on the same side. I am scheduled for a revision in September 2008. There was no accident that caused it. It just noticed in my 20s. Still trying to get even air flow.
Avatar f tn I have deviated septum. I am prone to sinus infections and massive sinus headaches. I wake up and the right side of my nose is plugged up. I was wondering if getting nebulizer would help this? I do not want the surgery because I was told by another doctor who had it done that it is more pain that he bargained for.
Avatar f tn PLEASE HELP! I have had 15 years of sinus/allergy/ear problems... I also have a deviated septum They ruled out sinus surgery with MRI'S/Cat scans... IK went for a hearing test...perfect hearing but a 'typanogram" test showed I have Euchstation tube dysfunction on right...they told me to live with it and that I should not have tubes put in as an adult...told me to have septum correction surgery instead...
Avatar m tn I saw an ENT recently who told me that I have a slightly deviated septum but I doubt that could be causing all of these problems. I drink plenty of water, I've tried decongestants, the ENT I saw prescribed an anti-inflammatory nasal spray (barely helped), I've tried pain killers which don't do much if anything, I've tried cold compresses, hot compresses. Nothing seem to works and this is making my day to day life a struggle. I'm looking for any suggestions, thanks.
Avatar n tn I had surgery to straighten a deviated septum, straighten the nose, and open it up some, but the turbinates were apparently left intact - this at age 17. Had the runny nose and congestion before. That was improved afterward and I had 5 or so good years, then the opposite problem of tooo-dry nose-sinuses started to set in and it's been beating me up for about 25 years now.
Avatar m tn cocaine. it could be a hole in septum , or irritated sinus cavity. i would bet at that amount it is the sinus cavity. it will probably heal if you stop using now, but it wouldnt hurt to see your doctor. i had a busted blood vessel in my sinus, and i suffered from spontaneous nose bleeds , till the burnt both ends shut. snorting cocaine will slowly "peel" the skin away in the nose and sinus a layer at a time. not sure about the saline spray, i would say let it heal on its own.
Avatar m tn Problem of congested nose - I saw a doctor for my nose blocking problem. He told it as Rhinosis. Fluzep and Ibuprofen tablets were given. After few days I saw an ENT. He has done Endoscopic Rhinoscopy. He told the problem is - Hypertrophic Turbinates & Deviated Nasal Septum. He asked me to stop other medicine and gave me Aerius Tablet and Avamys Spray.
