And I feel like I have forgotten everything I spent the past 3-4 years paying to learn ! I was an honours student in undergrad and never had memory problems before. I am also having huge problems concentrating on what people are saying to me. It's like I am not listening no matter how hard I try to listen my brain wanders off into zombie land. And I am only 29.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to regain one's memory and concentration ?

There is NO evidence that people with FM have brains that age faster. There is a neurological aspect to FM that can affect our brains. Our neurotransmitters may not be firing right to put it simply.
i suffer from migraines,fatigue, anxiety and panic attacks, muscle pain and weakness, memory loss, confusion, frustration, comprehension problems,sleep disorders. i have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia which can cause all of these symptons. my dr. put me on an anti-depressant, Cymbalta and a mood stabilizer, Lamictal. they have really helped with my depression and mood, which in turn has caused my migraines and memory to improve. it really is amazing what all depression and anxiety can affect.
Hello, I was diagnosed with syringomyelia and severe and mod stenosis. I've been doing rather well considering that they told me I would be in a wheel chair by now. Anyway I wondered if anyone else with this diagnosis has had problems with memory? My Nurse practitioner said it's normal then my wife looked it up and couldn't find anything on it. The memory loss that is. Nor could I. Any one know or have information on this topic?
I have the exact problem. I have ADHD. I dont remember a lot before the age of 13, from then I had to mostly relearn everything I had learned in my younger years. Now I find it hard to remember anything I read, listen to, or try and study. I feel lost and confused since I am only 19 with this type of problem.

So, visiting an endocrinologist and getting your thyroid tested is how to find out if it's your thyroid doing all this to you. Two is if you are taking some sort of medication that is giving you these as side effects, so you would review any drug you're on and see if you need to have it changed.
A few months ago, my doctor introduced Depakote to my drug regamine, but neglected to lower my dose (500 mg) of Lamictal. As a result, i developed severe vision problems - notably double vision and lack of coordination. I noticed that when it got better and I started to walk around and do chores or write letters, it got worse again.
I've been having trouble concentrating and thinking through things. It is only until recently that it has become a major problem. I've always been known to have a very good memory accompanied with my ability to think concisely. I've always made straight A's in school and I am now in my second year of college. Your additional info is helpful. Perhaps a learning weakness, then. Maybe a tutor for his lessons would be a good idea, or preschool might help. I'm 60 years old and I still don't know when my father's birthday is and we celebrate it every year. But I can still quote Shakespeare I learned in high school.

From my previous post everything was ruled out. The thing that i am most concerned about is the memory problems, constant detachment,its like my brain and mouth is disconnected. When i talk it feels like my brain is not coming up with the things to say and it is not working together. I have that constant empty feeling in my brain. This all happened.after that screaming episode like something changed in my brain. and i lost my memory.
