Avatar n tn hi, i don't have any dental insurance so I need to pick and choose which tests and procedures at the dentist are really needed. I ask you this because I hope to find unbiased opinion. Last time I skipped the peridontal xray, but got the cavity xray and cleaning...he found 2 tiny cavities that ran me $400 out of my pocket but later a hygenist said maybe that wasn't necessary as the decay could have been reversed... So what do I "really" need..
Avatar n tn I have dental insurance but as we all know the coverage has been less and less over the past few years so I looked into dental discount programs. Did you know that some dental providers will accept both insurance and a dental discount plan togeather? It took me about 5 phone calls but I know it was worth it. On my first visit I had 3-cavitys filled. The cost after my insurance was $144. factor in the dental discount plan and my out of pocket cost was only $14!!! Check it out at http://www.
Avatar n tn My husband (40 y/o,healthy)and I (40 y/o, healthy) are looking to get our health insurance coverage from next present. Right now we are on cobra GHI( extension from my previous work place) but they are asking me to change to EMPIRE PPO or EPO since they will not have GHI. I did not have dental and vision coverage previously but even if I want it they are saying they cannot add it. They are also asking for a one year committment.
Avatar f tn Have you tried Blue Shield? My payment is only $260 a month and deductible is $4000. I pay only 10% for appointments, testing, ultrasounds, and hospital visits.

Avatar n tn I am disabled on Original Medicare, have no intent to buy private insurance... I am wondering, is it possible for an individual to get real, stand alone dental insurance? Everything I've looked at caps yearly benefits at $1,000 or so which is completely insulting considering the premiums are close to half of that. Where can you buy dental insurance that gives you "REAL" coverage?
946207 tn?1246134385 My mouth is full of dental problems- I have 8 abcessed teeth. One bad infection is in one of my front teeth that hurts all the way up under my sinus cavity. I HAVE TO be sedated at the dentist (been this way since I was young- had abusive dentist when I was little girl who caused me alot of pain). NO low-income dental clinics will sedate me and I can't afford a regular dentist/oral surgeon/sedation. I am 43 yo tomorrow and am going to die from these infections in my mouth.

Avatar f tn I have persistent pain in my upper gums. I brush daily and try to floss but it is too painful and I bleed a lot when floss. I tried changing my toothpaste to a gun health one but after six months, I see little change in my pain. I don't have dental insurance, so what should I do?
Avatar f tn I'm only 22. No insurance and no job. I live in a rural area with no means of transportation. I have had weird teeth ever since I was about 8 and would love to get my teeth worked on. I need cleaning; fillings in at least 4 teeth; 2 wisdom teeth pulled (one grew in with a cavity); missing a tooth so need a fake one; and braces to push back teeth, pull together teeth, and spread some apart. I think one tooth has even started spotting brown towards the back.
Avatar m tn I recently broke a molar in my lower right quadrant, my dentist is recommending a root canal and a crown. My insurance company called me today to say it will not be approved because I'm over 21 yrs. I'm 56 year old female with no other dental issues. Doctors, what gives with this company? Is this normal and what can I do about it? Anyone else who have been through this issue and can offer some insight, I would appreciate your comments.
Avatar n tn s father insurance he has really good insurance...
Avatar f tn Ok mommys that have medicaid . Will I get denied if I already have dental insurance but not health insurance?
485259 tn?1519047026 Health insurance will only cover some of this. Dental insurance or at least the one I am eligable for has a 6 months waiting period before being active, and then would consider this to be pre-existing... all at a cost of 40.oo a month and then they only cover up to the MAX of 1500.00 and it does not cover all of the work I need to have done! So do the math .. this insurance is worthless!
Avatar m tn Hello, I can't remember the last time I was at the dentist but at the time the dentist said I had no cavities. Now I'm 21 and I have a cavity in on of my top molars. I don't know what to do, I don't have dental insurance and I really don't have the money to get it fixed. I don't want to wait any longer and have it get any worse but I don't have the extra arm and a leg the dentists charge.
Avatar n tn Dental school charges much less than private dental offices do.
Avatar f tn Hey Sarah I too am a college student looking for health insurance, I was curios to know what you chose and what worked for you. Also did you add dental to your health insurance, I cant find many quotes with both to know how much together they would cost.
Avatar m tn I am so far a healthy 43 year old/m in pa. I am trying to decide which health insurance plan will be good for my situation and I am looking for some opinions here. This Month my group plan ends and I can take cobra but there is no financial benefit to taking my same PPO plan which gives me to price break for being unemployed. So I am trying to look at this at a meaningful way. Since my PPO was $475/m plue $29 dental I just cant be paying that on my own now.
Avatar n tn care for your teeth/gums is usually considered dental care and will be covered by you detnal insurance only, regardless of other systemic conditions one may have. You are right when you say gingivitis and diabetes are related, but just because you have diabetes does not mean your gingivitis stems from it. most adults have gingivitis, which is a mild inflammation of the gum tissue. It should be able to be addressed within the parameters of your $1000 maximum. treatment is not that involved.
358699 tn?1297646442 Since I haven't had dental insurance in many years, I've neglected my dental health. I do brush my teeth everyday, floss, and use mouthwash. Last year I had a back molar removed because I cracked it and could not afford a crown. My middle teeth on the bottom are beginning to shift. I had braces as a teenager and my teeth were very straight. My gums bleed on the bottom every time I brush. I know this is a sign a periodontal disease or maybe gingivitis?
Avatar m tn my friend had several implants. the first year she had am exam every four months to quickly check on the healing and condition of her gums. this was because she had several bone grafts and numerous complications. she had cleanings every 6 months as normal. if she hadnt had so many problem it would have only required the normal routine of 6 month visits like regular teeth.
Avatar n tn I am just getting my own dental insurance next month, so I believe I would have to wait a year to see a periodontist with this particular insurance. If you have any suggestions on how to keep my gums as healthy as possible, so that I can avoid more problems, please let me know. Thanks so much.
Avatar f tn Physicians are not trained in treating the TMjoint because it's position and function is directly related to the way your teeth meet--called dental occlusion. I want to make it clear that how your teeth come together is NOT the cause the TMJ problems, but often the result. Also, because the most effective treatment (done by a properly trained dentist) would almost always include a splint (aka orthotic, mouth guard, etc.
229857 tn?1319029907 Do any of you have insurance for your pets? If so is it worth it and what is a good company? Thanks.!
