coughing up salty phlegm

The phlegm that I have been coughing up and post-nasal discharge tastes quite salty. I have been producing this saline stuff for about six months and wonder if my doctor needs to know about it? I have been getting over a recent bout of bronchitis where I was prescribed Augmentin (I am on Day 6) and Prednisone short burst (finished 2 days ago) I am still coughing quite bad but the fever has broke... but as of yesterday the phlegm/mucus I am coughing up tastes extremely salty. I have not been using any type of saline spray, or gargling with salt water, so I know this is not the reason. Is it the antibiotics causing this? Or is there another reason?

Okay so it started almost half a week ago I'd say.. I wasn't feeling sick at all, but for some reason I just started coughing up a lot of phlegm.. clearish to yellow colored. I don't smoke cigarettes, only on the occassional weekend. I do smoke pot. Anyways I thought the phelgm coughing up mighta been caused by some resin I was smoking, but they said that was black phlegm, not clearish yellow... So a few days pass of coughing up phlegm, and now I'm sitting here.. irritated...

Since about the second or third week post quitting I started coughing up this weird white/gray phlegm that has a terrible, bitter acrid taste that coats my mouth and back of my throat almost like an oil. Similar to bronchitis sputum but not green or yellow. There's no tar in it, no black bits, and it's always a small amount but it's once a day, every day. Usually after I eat. I hate it, it's disgusting and I'm not sure why it's still coming up! Anyone else?

I sometimes cough and then cough up green phlegm. I have had upper gi and colonoscopy. It did show a hiatal hernia. I don’t know where this green stuff is coming from. Had anyone else had this problem? I especially get it when I workout.

All pet scans are clear and x-rays clear still I have a cough that sometimes is that of a heavy smoker. Coughing brings up clear mucus. Other than this cough I feel great. Any suggestions on how to take care of the cough?

been coughing for a couple of weeks little bit of fever very tired went to a walk in clinic a couple of days ago and the Doctor said it was mostly allergies gave me antibotics,congestion,cough syurp,nasal spray....this morning when I woke up I was coughing up blood in my phlegm the first 3 times then it cleared up....

It seems to come in waves of coughing spells and then no coughs. I have been coughing up phlegm that is mostly white/clear with small amounts of a yellowish color and small brown flecks. When I lay down I can hear myself breathing/wheezing and makes it impossible to sleep, not to mention coughing fits making my partner unable to sleep. I have been taking antihistamines before bed and it seems to help calm my cough.

I tried looking into what it could be myself, but anything I found about coughing up clumps had nothing really about brown clumps, but rather yellow stinky ones. And mine are cleary not a yellowish color, nor do they smell.They are fairly small but I have been hocking them up more frequently, sometimes as much as four to five clumps in a day. Im 17 year old female, I currently have a blocked nose and sore throat common symptoms of a cold. It has been 5 days now and i still have it. I have been coughing up phlegm daily for around 7 years. I've tried antibiotics several times without any success. I've had x-rays and mri scans but nothing showed up. Around 18 months ago my voice started to change. I was then prescribed omeprazole 20 mg capsules which make a slight difference and my voice returned to normal. But I still have to tap my chest and often have to get someone to hit my back to dislodge the phlegm which is milky white/ beige globules and quite a lot of it.

sound like your lungs are clearing and you may have bronco or asthma or something see your doctor some times when you stop smokeing this happen.

m asthmatic and have never smoked. Over the past six weeks I have been coughing up grey phlegm with black specks in it. I went to see my gp who sent me for an X ray and was clear.

You should go to the doctor to be checked out because if you stpped cold turkey it can be something More serious then you might think

I am at work and started coughing, I realized that I started to taste blood, and when I spit what I could into a paper towel after coughing some more, I discovered that the phlegm or spit was actually pink.
