Coughing cat runny nose

Common Questions and Answers about Coughing cat runny nose

coughing

Have tried allergy meds also, none to little changes in the coughing and runny nose. Next step is a steroid med I don't want to use (to many potential side effects). She was tested for Cystic fiborsis with negative results. Could she have Sinus problems? Info: She doesn't run fevers, her behavior during the day is normal with little coughing, but does have the runny nose. Night time is the worst. We have a cat in the house and we try to keep the house clean.
What I don't understand is that we have had our cat for about three months now and his only reaction has been the tipical sneezing, watery eyes, and runny nose. However, this syptom seems to extreme. He will cough for hours, he is up all night and keeps me up with his coughing. He coughs to the point that there is no phlem left. He is also a smoker. Although he is not coughing up blood, I believe this may be early signs of lung cancer. Can this be correct?
His coughing attacks subsided for the most part, since stopping the medicine he's back to having a tough time breathing, runny nose, and bad coughing attacks. I've done the x-rays, and I'm looking for advice... I am hoping he does not need pills for the rest of his life.
2 days later the runny nose was gone and the puffy eyes were getting better...and his breathing was better as well...so far i think i have found one of his triggers...
Ds is severly allergic to cats, itchy, red swelling eyes, runny nose, asthma attacks. He started allergy shots (3 shots every Friday) for that along with shots for Dogs, 5 different tree pollens, 5 different bees, a wasp, dust mites. Any time he'd go outside and play with one of the barn kitties he'd get sick. And sometimes end up with a sinus infection. He's also on DDAVP for bloody noses, Singulair, Patonal, Flonase, Allegra, Flovent, Albuterol, and topical cream for eczema.
I like a saline gel called Ayr. They also make a spray. It really feels good in the nose. Also, my GP recently prescribed Nasonex for "Colorado Dry Nose". I've used it a couple of times and it helps runny nose, but I'm leary of yet another med.
i am so glad im not the only one! I watched a program the other night about brain fluid but I searched it up and its most likely to be a common sinus infection. PHEW!!!
He did still have a slight runny nose when I got him but it cleared up very quickly after I got him. I did notice that the cats she had in her home that were not in the cattery, coughed. When my boy does it, it sounds more like he's got mucus or phlegm in his throat. At first I thought it might have been a hairball so I started mixing some vaseline in with his food. But so far there's been no improvement.
My symptoms Sudden tickle in throat followed by what feels like a closing of my airway unable to speak coughing runny nose tears streaming down my face. After a few minutes it subsides but leaves me very, hot shaky, and exhausted. My triggers are spicy food, post nasal drip or nothing at all. I am a very healthy active 45 year old woman but this takes everything out of me. I worry that when I get old I will be too fragile to handle the coughing spell. It is so very frightening.
My 4 week old daughter has had cold like symptoms(sneezing, coughing, congestion, runny nose, and alot of mucus and respiratory congestion) for about 3 weeks. We have been to the doctor multiple times with concerns ,every time resulting in the same answer, that its a cold and will pass. There is no infection and we have done RSV tests and oxygen levels that all come back normal. We are very confused and concerned.
I get a sore throat (not tonsils but when you swallow) I now go straight on antibiotics and use Bricanyl inhaler although it doesnt seem to have much effect except to cause alot of mucus coughed up from the lungs. It causes me to have spasm coughing and if I cannot control this to 3 or 4 coughs my windpipe closes over making it hard to breath in or out. The last one about 2 years ago stopped me breathing in and out completely for 10 to 15 seconds and I thought I had bought it.
(. I am waiting on the nurse to call me back now.
do you think we have some fungus in the nose or somthing? cause i dont really get cold anymore. i dont have runny nose. though the smell has lessen in years there is still the smell in my nostril. people near me can smell it. and if i stick something inside my nose there's a smell. and i read in some forums here that someone get cured by applying a nasal cream in the nose called naseptin.
Mine is little different because where ever I am at this smell stays in, my room , at work and in my car.. and the smell changes all the time it depends what I eat. I also get thursty If I dont drink water. I start to get a dry throat and mouth... If i drink anything else that is not water my breath gets worse.. please help!
Not breathing well through your nose can alter your heart rate and blood pressure, as well as to increasing your stress response. Your nose makes about 2 pints of mucous every day. If your nose isn't working properly and mucous isn't cleared, the stagnant mucous can lead to infections such as sinusitis or ear infections. Lastly, not breathing well through your nose can aggravate snoring or obstructive sleep apnea.
Since she was 2 months old, she has had a chronic runny nose - coughing - expulsion of phlem. In MD, we were told that babies do NOT have allergies but they had no advice. Many rounds of antibiotics ruled out infections and helped get rid of infections that severe bouts of her runny nose caused. We moved from MD to Denver at her 1 yr birthday - we have seen improvement. Finally had an allergy test - she was allergic to cats. Removed furniture, carpet, etc.
I would definately take her to see a Dr., but my first reaction is that she is allergic to something in her room? I know that my 2 year old has mild dust allergies and would often cough at night. Sometimes coughing can lead to them vomiting. I added a humidifier to his room for moisture (I live in a dry dusty climate and that was adding to the problem), and I damp sponge his walls, crib and other furniture at least every other day now.
happens to me every Nov. I get sick with a sore scratchy throat, day 2 runny nose, day 3 cough that I let last for about 2-3 weeks then I get antibiotics. about 2 weeks later-- same pattern. wash your hands often and stay away from sick people!
brett got his first cold a few days ago. the typical sneezing, runny nose, coughing and a little fever. silly me thought ok well if i keep him away from eli then eli won't get sick. silly silly mommy. eli got sick 2 days ago. same symptoms as my little brett. so i think ok they're sick it's ok ....a week and everyone will be ok. silly silly mommy....guess who's sick now. not the cat. not the dh. mommy. mommy is sick now. lol. at least we managed to go 7 months before the first colds.
I started to notice that I had a rash like hives on my arm that was tingly and itchy, but soon went away later in the day. Recently, my throat and ears started to itch. Now, my nose is runny and I have a chronic cough and I'm wheezing. I also felt like I had a fever but I took an aspirin for that. I started to take claritin and I'm using Robitussin for coughing. Now, I'm thinking of not caring for this cat that I absolutely love but I don't think I can be around her.
(I was told to by my vet) my kitten is still kinda geting over cat flu she has manky eyes, but the vet said if she gets a runny nose and starts sneezing take her straight back and they will put her on Antibiotics. So just in case.... But things are looking good.... :) Wooohooo. But all 5 being ill.. woah, I thought It was bad mine being born with Cat flu, but it never got passed on to the others.
I have a 13 YO cat who has had a runny nose for quite some time. He's eaten fine and slept and his activity level has been the same, so I haven't worried about it. The mucus used to be thin and clear, but it has recently thickened and turned greenish. I am going to start giving him amoxicillin tonight, but I wanted to share another thing I found that works, to clear out his nose. I had a small baby-sized nasal syringe and thought it wouldn't work to try.
Other symptoms of a kitty with URI include coughing, runny nose and watery eyes. Antibiotics is one of the things that could help your cat get through this, but you'd have to go to the vet. For home remedies and alternatives, here is a link, but I would ask a vet first. Not that I don't trust home remedies. It's just for confirmation purposes. You don't want to waste your time on something that may not work for your cat although it may work for others. http://www.holisticat.com/uri.
It then progresses into chest congestion or travels up into the ears and the sinuses. You’ll have a low grade fever, mild chills, and a runny nose. Even if you start out with a runny nose, eventually, you’ll have throat symptoms later on. Sounds like a classic cold, right? When you see your doctor, throat redness and irritation and swollen glands are noted, confirming even further that you’re in the middle of a standard upper respiratory infection, or the common cold.
Two weeks ago I was rushed to ER with what I thought was respitatory like symptoms, pressure on chest, coughing, runny nose, shortness of breath and they did a workup of heart because they heard chest pressure. After shooting me up with pain meds to make me sleepy and running all night tests in the observation unit, they released me. 24 hours later I am calling my doctor who did a cat scan to check for a Pulmunary clot, which did not show anything.
Every morning I wake up with a runny nose and am coughing. As soon as I leave the dorm to go to classes that subsides and I'm pretty fine. But I've developed a constant cough now and I'm kind of worried. I've heard rumors of asbestos and whatnot but I feel like they would tell us about it or evacuate if that's what it was.
My husband and I do not let the child go to her house because we think that it is a risk and do not want to take a chance with the child's health. My child has gone to her house and come out with a runny nose and red eyes. We think that the child's health is more important than going to her house. Please give me information to help her understand just how serious Astma can be and how it can scar my child's lungs. Thanks for the help!
So lets say that if the air wasn't ever dry, you would always have some runny nose from this moderate allergy okay? Now. Take away this drying factor with rain or snow "moist air" and the nose doesn't dry up before it accumulates any longer. Thus this minor problem which is so minor that the air "if not moist" dries your sinus from you breathing this air in and out. Right? So when the air is wet, this drying factor disappears and you are left with a runny nose.
Oddly enough what makes me think I have it now is my year old habbit of smoking Ciggarettes (don't start doing this) I've always had persistant cough of some sort runny nose etc etc, in COPD it says your lungs produce too much mucus which in turn causes damage to your lungs (actually very simillar to Emphysema) but I know for a fact I've had this problem prior to smoking (8 years old I remember having cough attacks) personally I think Allergies can make it worse, and confuses the subject.
