Concussion management plan

Common Questions and Answers about Concussion management plan

concussion

Avatar f tn A month ago I was in a bad car accident. My car flipped and I hit my head going unconscious. So obviously I had a concussion. I'm healing and have been trying to decide which exercise would be the best? I've belonged to a gym since Oct. but am just concerned to start exercising again. My dr says I need to treat myself as if I have a concussion for at least a year, or while symptoms last. I get headaches, dizziness, sometimes very mild forgetfulness.
Avatar n tn I have had patients with this condition. However, there is no specific treatment for post-concussion syndrome. Management usually is directed at individual symptoms. This is why it is recommended that you have regular follow-ups for proper management of your symptoms. Take care and best regards.
Avatar f tn If anxiety and sometimes depression are present, psychotherapy and anti-anxiety medications may also help. Discuss with your neurologist about your management plan and have regular follow-up. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn This will determine which tests to take and his management plan as well. It is also good to hear that he will be getting his insurance soon. Take care and best regards.
Avatar f tn I play softball in college and about 3 weeks ago i was hit in the head with a bat right above my left ear. My coach gave me a concussion test and my head was hurting pretty bad throughout the day. The next day it wasnt bothering me too bad so I didnt go to the doctor to see if i did have a concussion. Well ever since that weekend, i have pressure headaches on the right side of my head.
Avatar f tn Hi, I had a concussion about 3 wks ago and after that I have had a tingling sensation in my feet. I want to know if this is expected and what can be done to resolve this. As a a positive side effect, I have also noticed that things seem to be moving in slow motion some times. In other words, I see things much quicker and my reflexes have improved. Is this normal ?
Avatar m tn About two months ago I suffered an injury to my left eye and the fore head area of my head. Two weeks later the ER Doctor told me I have post concussion syndrome, the CT scan was normal, however I still feel dizzy, lazy, depressed, my ears ring non stop and after I eat I feel like passing out. My primary care doctor said to give it about 90 days to a year. Can you tell me how much more should I wait before I see a neurologist.
1602878 tn?1304336016 I recently took a bad tumble down some rocks hitting my knee, back and ended up with bad bruising, fractured vertebrae, and whiplash plus a concussion. I also suspect a spinal fluid leak. I know that sounds weird but I've had multiple leaks, some for months and with many blood patches and once with a ten day stay where they drained fluid off every hour at Mayo. Have had about eight surgeries some inside the cord to untether it and to remove a tumor.
Avatar f tn Last friday I suffered a concussion as a result of being stupid (falling over when I went to plop into bed and hit the wall). I hit the top of my head on the wall and hard! I did not pass out however. My doctor said I have a concussion. Anyway, a few years back I had a sub occiptial decompression laminectomy c1 as a result of Arnold Chiari Malformation.
Avatar n tn There could be an intracranial bleeding leading to formation of hematoma .There could be Cerebral contusion or concussion . Please go for a CT scan and MRI of brain and consult a neurologist for the examination , diagnosis and management . Hope this helps you . Take care and regards !
Avatar f tn Had bad concussion, broken ribs, pelvus fractured in 3 places, shoulder popping out of joint. She has been in intensive therapy, then out patient therapy. She can luckily walk with a limp. Has anyone had anything such as this type of injury. Pain management at University of Cinn does not want her on narcotics and plan to stop in a week. She is still in alot of pain with weight bearing injury but is scared to dealth because she is already still in alot of pain.
Avatar f tn A birth plan is like do you want to be in the hospital or at home. What for pain management. Who you want to be with you. Do u plan to breastfeed or formula.
Avatar m tn Not sure whether its related but a month and a half before I smoked I suffered a minor concussion, and I was cleared from the concussion after 3 weeks. After 9 months I have not noticed any improvement. I am 18, healthy, with no other conditions. I plan on seeing a neurologist soon, but I would greatly appreciate any opinions from you guys in informing me of what is going on, whether my problem is curable, whether there is a light at the end of this depressing tunnel... Thank you.
Avatar n tn If it continues to hurt and swells, you will have to see a doctor, especially with the headaches, you could have a very mild concussion. Some allergies can cause headaches, true, but, not the swelling.
251315 tn?1198196557 i Went to a neurologist and he dignosed me with Post concussion syndrom. i hit my head pretty good, 1 the whip lash (i cant remember if i hit it on anything in my car) but as i was exiting to see what he did i smacked it on the metal bar getting out and then when the paramedic arrived i was laying in my car as they got me out the car he was holding my neck up right and i smacked it again on the metal bar getting out the car again.
12128836 tn?1423574148 The statement that "in emergency medicine a concussion is not very serious" is absurd and incorrect A concussion is due to a blow on the head. The brain moves and actually displaces. In all concussions there is swelling. The swelling in turn impinges on blood flow, which in turn causes necrosis (death) of brain cells. In general there is a window-of-opportunity to administer drugs to reduce the swelling. There can be damage without the presence of nausea or of unconsciousness.
539750 tn?1226521677 Example, I would like a hip MRI, I fell on my hip four years ago and injured it. I went to the ER because I also got a concussion. About six months ago I went to Physical Medicine and was referred to PT for my hip. I still have to see my PCP for her to evaluate me before she will put in the order for the MRI. Which seems silly since I have already been seen at pain management for this.
Avatar n tn This was compounded in Dec 2019 when I was involved in a car accident which led to post-concussion symptoms. After that accident I developed light sensitivity and more difficulty in focusing. I went to a concussion specialist, optometrists, opthamologists, chiropractors, etc. Nothing impactful came out of MRI’s, x-rays, etc. After 6 months of being off work, I returned to the post-covid WFH workplace with a very progressive return to work plan.
Avatar m tn I suffered a mild concussion. Today I am experiencing a sharp intense pain just above my right eye close to my nose. The pain is very intense at the spot, but I feel fine other than the pain in that area...Shouldl I be worried???
477608 tn?1238527958 Right now, I am again uninsured until the end of December. Looking to get diagnosed and have a plan (perhaps some pain management and home remedies until insurance will cover). Bottom line is: I'm not so sure an ENT can adequately cover the issues and think in retrospect, I should have had an oral maxillofacial surgeon to begin with.
Avatar f tn Closed injury means you received a hard blow to head from striking an object, but the object didn’t break the skull. These include, concussion which is the commonest traumatic brain injury, contusion is a bruise on brain and skull fractures. The head may appear fine but complications could arise from bleeding or swelling inside the skull. The spine also needs to be examined. Consult a neurologist urgently and get a neurological assessment done including MRI spine and head.
Avatar f tn My eyes were misaligned because of my concussion.
