Common Questions and Answers about Concussion in yorkies

concussion

Avatar f tn I recently lost three yorkies in a house fire. Once we rebuilt the house, I purchased a 1 year old from a kennel. We have a dog door that she can go in and out but she comes inside to pee. She is really good about doing her pooh outside but she seriously has come in from outside to pee. What do I do? She was said to be trained to a piddle pad - but she isn't. I know the problem is that she has gone in her living space for a year but there has to be help.
Avatar f tn If they are not spayed do you notice that the aggression occurs as a result of any of them being in season (estrus), or in the hormonally elevated times before or after estrus? This would be sexual aggression. If this is the case spaying will probably help. If they are already spayed than the problem is probably due to territorial aggression. It is important for you to monitor times when the problem occurs and try to anticipate when it will happen again.

Avatar n tn one week after concussion my 14 week malteese turns in circles all day what can this be.
Avatar f tn It is abundantly clear that in some cases concussions may result in seizures. That is not a "theory". It is a medical fact. It doesn't require "discussion". But not all concussions result in a seizure. There can be varying degrees of damage depending on the severity off the blow, where the impact takes place, and from resultant swelling, and if there is a delay in seeking medical attention. A "concussion" is not a "concussion".
Avatar f tn Hi guys, My yorkie is turning 4 tomorrow(yay!) but when I got home from school today I noticed that one of his eyes looked cloudy. At first I thought it was just the dim lighting, but upon close inspection I noticed that the pupil of one of his eyes was black (as always) while the other a cloudy white. I am taking him to the vet tomorrow, but I would like to know if anyone knows of any remedies or cures for cataracts asides from surgery. So that I am able to ask vet about them tomorrow.
Avatar f tn I am a concussion survivor. Could you get a concussion if your head stops suddenly from a fast movement? Yesterday I was in a hurry and running and pushed the door in front of me. It stopped abruptly which caused my body to stop too. Could this cause a concussion? I'm scared because I am recovering from a concussion already. Does it make me more prone to brain injury? Please, help me!
Avatar m tn Ive got a boy apple head chihuahua about 7yr and a girl thats the same kind shes 1yr 6mon.They are the only dogs ive really had and got close to.
Avatar f tn Sounds like you might have a concussion. A concussion is a mild brain injury caused by a knock or blow to the head or a sudden change in motion. See a doctor just in case.
Avatar m tn I assume you mean 2lbs., correct? Yorkies only weigh 6-7 lbs to begin with... Sudden intake of more water, excessive hunger, etc. are symptoms of various diseases such as Thyroid Disease, Kidney disease, Cushings, Diabetes, Liver disease, along w/others..... All of these are treatable & easier to control if caught early......Please don't wait......Get your guy in to be checked ASAP. Good luck and let us know what you find out......
Avatar n tn https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/post-concussion-syndrome/symptoms-causes/syc-20353352 Make sure to tell the doctor about all of the workouts you're doing, to make sure you're not perpetuating the problem by doing a specific exercise. Hope you start to improve!
Avatar n tn I have 2 Yorkies - they had started to sneeze alot but never to the point of nosebleeds . My vet said it was allergies & told my to give them 5cc's ( 1 TSP ) of CHILDRENS Benadryl . U can get a syringe from the pharmacy to administer the liquid . I have had great results ... they hardly sneeze at all anymore . Good luck ! They even like the taste - I get the bubblegum flavor - it's like a treat for them .
Avatar m tn Both yorkies have eaten flint river pup food until about 2 months ago I changed them to senior formula. Vet also gave pro pectalin pills. No good. I started her on plain rice today and will try pumpkin. I am very frustrated with my vet as he seems not to explore many possibilities. I have read most posts and sounds as though probiotics could be in the answer pool Many thanks and hope you can give me some ideas. Tearing my heart out.
Avatar f tn As a a positive side effect, I have also noticed that things seem to be moving in slow motion some times. In other words, I see things much quicker and my reflexes have improved. Is this normal ?
Avatar m tn A doctor generally looks for focal neurological or generalized neurological symptoms that would show there is a pressure on brain somewhere. In absence of these symptoms and based on the history a diagnosis of concussion is given. If concussion is severe, and there is underlying brain injury, then yes, even death can occur. Hope this helps! Take care!
Avatar m tn My doctor said the same thing, it was do to the concussion and that I would be fine. I read in one of your post that your daughter was said to have Post-Concussion Syndrome after a head injury. I do not know how long ago that was but if you looked up what the doctor was talking about like I do when my kids health is involved. You might of seen that the syndrome can sometimes last over a year in some cases. As for epilepsy, I have it.
Avatar n tn I have a serious concussion and I have strained my trapiuses muscle... I also have osgood schlatters in one leg and I can't run with out getting dizzy due to the concussion... I really need to work out ... I have been out for a month ... Please and thank you !
Avatar m tn I was involve in a very bad car accident 02/10 and have no memory of the actual wreck. the hospital deemed I have a severe concussion and then also diagnosed me with Post Concussion Syndrome. I am currently also experiencing back and neck problems as well as getting a collarbone checked out for a possible fracture. My question is does coffee effect concussion and PCS recovery. And how long does recovery generally take.
Avatar f tn Loss of consciousness isn’t required for a diagnosis of concussion or post concussion syndrome. Post concussion syndrome occurs within first 7 to 10 days and until 3 months. Symptoms are variable including dizziness, fatigue, irritability, anxiety, insomnia, loss of concentration and memory, light and noise sensitivity, headache varying from a tension type to cluster headaches. You need to consult a neurologist immediately.

Avatar m tn They are known for having bad teeth, also for retaining baby teeth when the adult teeth come in. Can you look in her mouth and see if she has a double set of her teeth, you would see 2 K-9 ( fang adult tooth) and right behind it would be another small tooth with a crook on the end.
Avatar n tn Yorkshire Terriers are extremely difficult to bred, hernia or not. These are VERY tiny dogs, and the problems that come along with breeding them can end up costing you not only thousands of dollars, but they can also cost you the life of your dog and/or her puppies. If you look at the Yorkshire Terrier breed standard as written by the AKC (American Kennel Club), it tells you that a Yorkshire Terrier should weigh between four and seven pounds. A three pound Yorkie is EXTREMELY small.
Avatar f tn I got a concussion about 3 months ago at a cheer competition when a girl fell and elbowed me in the face. I didn’t get knocked unconscious but I blacked out for 3 or 4 seconds. Immediately after my performance I went to the athletic trainer who performed an assessment and asked what my symptoms were. Immediately I had a headache, I saw halos around lights, and I felt like I was in a dream state.
