Common Questions and Answers about Concussion and unconscious

concussion

Avatar f tn I got a concussion about 3 months ago at a cheer competition when a girl fell and elbowed me in the face. I didn’t get knocked unconscious but I blacked out for 3 or 4 seconds. Immediately after my performance I went to the athletic trainer who performed an assessment and asked what my symptoms were. Immediately I had a headache, I saw halos around lights, and I felt like I was in a dream state.
Avatar f tn 3 days after incident i took a nap in bed and i woke up and turned my head from my right side over to my left and it felt like i could feel ice cold water inside my head moving to my left side, where my knot was from incident, and it felt as if it was coving that area. I felt my head because i thought maybe i was bleeding because why else would my head feel wet. Also, since then I’ve randomly became in a state of unfamiliarity, nothing will seems real or fimiliar. I get panic attacks now.
Avatar f tn I looked up symptoms online and i didnt fall unconscious when i hit my head and ive only become nauseated twice or thrice since the injury. Ive had headaches at random, but they usually only last around 30 or 40 minutes. But the thing thats worrying me is that i feel a pressure on the front of my head that alleviates when i tilt my head backwards. I had hit the back of my head so i wasnt sure if i jostled something out of place.
Avatar n tn She lay unconscious on the floor for a couple of minutes and then whenever anyone tried to talk to her she just couldnt keep eye contact with them and looked very confussed. She then attempted to vomit unsuccesfully many times before fading in and out of concsiousness. Is that concussion or is it more serious??
Avatar m tn 10 days ago I suffered a concussion due to a fall after fainting. We don't know how long I was unconscious (I was alone), but it was no more than 10-15 minutes. I was unable to remember anything regarding the actual injury (i.e. where I hit the back of my head) or my trip to the hospital and the ER until about an hour before I was discharged. I 'lost" about 3 hours in total.

Avatar f tn A month ago I was in a bad car accident. My car flipped and I hit my head going unconscious. So obviously I had a concussion. I'm healing and have been trying to decide which exercise would be the best? I've belonged to a gym since Oct. but am just concerned to start exercising again. My dr says I need to treat myself as if I have a concussion for at least a year, or while symptoms last. I get headaches, dizziness, sometimes very mild forgetfulness.
Avatar f tn She was unconscious when we found her. She paces in circles constantly. I hold her and that is the only thing that calms her down. I've web searched and I do find info on concussions, but nothing really on how long it takes for them to recover. She is eating/drinking and managing her toilet needs. Sometimes she knows her name other times she doesn't. She is so focused on pacing, that she has no other life other than that. I've got her meds to calm her at night from the vet.
2059146 tn?1404732036 if you want to call it that called vasovagal synope, this is where I pass out/ faint due to a triggered problem, mine is blood and needles and gore. When i fainted I think I hit my head on the right side because it is really starting to hurt and throb. That night I found that my left eye kept twitching and ever since my eye keeps twitching to the point where I have to ru my eyes and face because it keeps happening...
Avatar n tn I had a head injury as a rsult of a car coming around a blind corner. I was unconscious for about a day and have long term problems with memory, dizziness and energy. What I have found really helps my dizziness is homeopathic remedies. Cranio-sacral therapy (which is also recommended for babies after the trauma of birth) and for my lack of energy and breathlessness acupuncture helps. Bio-energy therapy also helped get rid of my frustration and anger!
Avatar f tn I apologize in advance for the length, I think the background is all relevant. I had two concussions in my late teens, one with memory loss of several hours after the blow (knocked on my head playing basketall), the second with loss of memory of the accident (I was a pedestrian hit by a car). I'm not sure if I was unconscious in either case.
Avatar f tn Ok so please no hate or anything. I’m 14 year old girl and I just got back from a ski trip. Basically what makes me believe I might have a concussion is that 5 days ago we where skiing and I fell on a pretty flat run, I went face first landing on the left side of my face, I was unconscious for 30 seconds. My dad told me some guy offered to call ski patrol which my dad said no to. I slowly got up, I had a pretty bad headache as we where skiing down.
Avatar n tn Anytime a person goes unconscious he/she should immediately see a doctor to check for concussion. If the GP appointment is immediately then see him, if not then get to a doctor at ER. A head injury can result in tremendous complications in the future and a quick treatment might be necessary.
Avatar m tn My 16 year old son was in a car wreck 5 1/2 days ago where he suffered a grade 2 moderate concussion. He was knocked unconscious for a short period of time & received a scalp laceration to the right side of his head . The CT scan discovered what the neurosurgeon described as a small thread size bleed. Later that day another CT scan was done & all signs of bleeding were gone & the blood had been absorbed. His stay in the hospital was for 3 days.
868804 tn?1239583770 About three years ago I had a concussion in a soccer game. I was knocked unconscious, but got up and managed to play the second half of the game. (big mistake) After the game I felt very sick and when my mom came to pick me up she took me to the hospital right away. The doctors said i had a concussion and gave my mom **** for letting me play the second half. I had a couple more concussions and ended up taking a full year off of all physical activity, as directed by a neurologist.
12128836 tn?1423574148 But a hard hit to the head can also cause a bleeding in the brain which is extremely dangerous and often fatal. Most times you just get a concussion and no brain bleeding. An extreme hit like from a car crash can cause the brain to swell and the pressure in the skull to increase which will lead to brain damage, maybe coma and possibly death. This is also unlikely. Let us return to the concussions which is the most probable outcome of a hard hit to the head.
Avatar f tn I was knocked unconscious after hitting the windshield, and suffered several lacerations on my face, which bled quite a bit and required stitches to close. My buddy was the driver, and was injured a lot less than I was. He suffered a few cuts and scrapes and was not bleeding badly, he didn't require any stitches. Now here's my question: am I at risk for HIV exposure? My friend said he's pretty sure none of his blood got on me, but I'm not sure.
Avatar n tn I wonder if these olfactory hallucinations could be related to the visual migranes or if they may be related to a bike accident I had 6 years ago in which I had a concussion in which I was unconscious for ~15 minutes. Thanks for your response!

Avatar m tn Apparently, I had just fell 3 feet flat on my face on tile floor, and ended up with a concussion. I had an EEG and many other tests following that day. -I have ADHD, and have had 3 straight years of TORTURE of teachers disliking me and my energy. -I have depression. My bestbestbest BEST friend, Timmy, moved away to Las Vegas, so I barely have time to talk to him, due to the differentiations in the time zones. I am extremely depressed because of that.
Avatar m tn I was recently involved in an accident on November 16 in which I fell unconscious and hit my head which caused trauma to my head, and at that time I also had a really bad fever. I stayed in the hospital for a week and the doctor diagnosed me with migraines because during the stay I had headaches the whole time. Since then my headaches got worse and worse and now I'm to the point that I cannot even attend spring semester at my college.
Avatar n tn I was in a recent cycling accident and broke several bones, received a major concussion, and was knocked out unconscious for a few minutes - lucky to be a live actually. It was a very serious and traumatic experience that I'm finding out. It's been 3 weeks and I'm no longer on the narcotics. I've had very difficulty sleeping over the last few days (10 hrs in the last three nights). I experience restlessness like no other and feel like I just want to jump out of my skin.

Avatar m tn t remember the medical term for it) were athletes who took many shots to the head over many years and played while they had the concussion/still had concussion symptoms. AND before we knew about the seriousness of injuries to the brain. There is a reason why in sports today that people need to pass concussion protocol tests before they are allowed to return to activity. I suppose I'm trying to relate this to sports as you talked about boxing.
