all show everything is fine except for the slow heart rate. I have tried Concerta 54 mgs which has raised my resting heart rate from the 40s to the 60s and that has helped a lot but its controlled, expensive, a real pain to keep filling every 30 days. Can anyone recommend anything else? I'm not so bad to actually need a pacemaker yet.. but being tired all the time has really hurt my quality of life. Thanks for any suggestions!

each person reacts to concerta differently. that being said, it is a stimulant, and when taking stimulants it may increase heart rate, which in turn will decrease your immune system, thus making you susceptible to any form of sickness and diseases. only explanation you can get for the coincidence. other then that concerta does not have a direct cause to contracting anything.

He has ADHD with severe compulsivity, anxiety and possible ODD. He cannot take the stimulant meds anymore because of his high heart rate, mood swings and depression. Anyone know which workks better? Or is there a non stimilant that will work. He was on Concerta but that didnt work for him. I have been hearing about the ATTEND diet. Any ideas for my teen. Thank you for your replies.

I'm not sure if Concerta is working for me? I'm a 20 year old female and I was recently diagnosed with ADD. I was prescribed with 18mg of Concerta, once every morning. I didn't feel particularly focused, but I suppose less distracted than usual. I felt very calm and relaxed on the first day. But since the first day, I don't notice any difference at all.

My feeling which is a pretty strong one is that none of us are doctors on this site and that you need to listen to the heart doc. First off you never under any circumstance want to take anyone off of a heart med suddenly because it causes a reaction called rebound which could be deadly to anyone...meaning that if the heart meds are stopped suddenly without the person being weaned off of them the symtoms come back times three at a min. and could put your little girl in a world of hurt.

I have a 5 year old daughter who has recently been "kicked out" of pre-school for aggression. My husband & I have taken her to therapy and we are now trying medication (Concerta 36mg). Nothing seems to be working and the aggression is worsening. I love my baby girl and it is breaking my heart to see her so unhappy all the time. We are doing everything that is recommended in therapy (behavior charts, ect) and still no progress.

Hello, I also have adult ADD and I have tried both Concerta and Vyvanse. My doctor wanted me to try Concerta for a few weeks and I didn't like it at all. It didn't agree with me. It made it feel depressed and NOT motivated to do everyday things. I was on a 36 mg dose and when I went back to my doctor I told him I hated it. He mentioned that there is a new medication called Vyvanse and asked if I would like to try it. With nothing to lose, I said yes. I do like Vyvanse.

Now we have to make a change of some kind she has elevated liver enzyme and increased heart rate so family doctor wants to take her off her adderall. Any thoughts???

hes been going through physical agressive behavior in school so bad that they are making me look at diffrent schools next week because he has been suspended due to his behavior. he just started concerta the last 5 days but iv been through about a handfull of different med including bipolar medication. hes very sorry for hes behavior and will ask me mom why am i bad i wanna be good. my heart just breaks/ but i dont know what he has or why his doing this!

my 8 yr old is on concerta 27mg she has been on it for a month and just started complaing about her chest feeling like it was so tight she cant breath and her heart herts when her chest tightens...the nurse said give her tylnole and take her to her doctor in the morning not to give her her pill ..is she going to be alright we had a really bad experiance with the vyvance and the folcolin i cant let my baby go threw that again...how can i help her in school and not hert her while doing so?...

My son was diagnosed with ADHD when he was 6 and has been on concerta since that time which has helped him tremendously until recently. It's as if the concerta has no effect on him anymore. his doctor said he can't up his dosage to 36 mg because of his weight (he weighs approx 65 pounds). Has anyone ever heard of this? Hi I am so sorry to post this here because I know it is for children, but please forgive me because I need help. I think I was incorrectly diagnosed at 44 and have been put on concerta 27 mg almost 3 weeks ago. I have complained from day 1 that I am getting headaches and intense back and shoulder pain. I went and was cleared off all heart related problems so I guess its all muscular. Anyway I have just 2 days ago was switched to the 18 mg because of all the complaints.

I checked his eyes this morning before he took his Concerta pill and his eyes were still dialated, but not as badly as after he takes the Concerta. Should I take him to an eye doctor or should I discuss this with his psychiatist (who prescribes his Concerta) first?

Why is my 'shrink' trying to treat my Adult ADD with Bubropion HCL SR (100mg tab 2X a day)? Is this the right med for me? Good grief...it didn't even cut out my smoking. I just started taking Concerta (36 mg) and I immediately developed shingles. My doctor swears it's a coincidence, but I can't help but wonder. I had chicken pox as a child, but I've never had shingles before now. I went to the doctor today and got neurontin and valtrex, but the doctor told me to keep taking the Concerta. I don't know what to do because the Concerta is helping my ADD, but I also believe it at least played a part in my shingles outbreak.
