Clopidogrel long term use

Common Questions and Answers about Clopidogrel long term use

plavix

Avatar m tn Personally, I would not take Plavix for the long term as the risk in my view excessive internal bleeding from a stroke and/or the digestive system. For me, aspirin for the long term is sufficient although Plavix has a different mechanism to prevent clots. However, some in the medical community may be relying on CPARIE trial!!.
Avatar m tn I have seen several questions relating to 100% blockage of the RCA and can a person live. The answers I have seen are positive, however my question is, what is the probable long term prognosis as far as quality of life. I have recently undergone attempted angioplasty to try and unblock the RCA, due to continuing angina attacks, and unfortuneatly was unsuccesfull. I have been on a high chemical regime for some time and have been put on a new drug called Coralan (5mg).
Avatar n tn t think they know the long term outcomes. I in no way say you should do the same, but two years ago I went against my Doctor and Cardiologist and came off anti coagulants. I was fed up bleeding for a long time if I cut myself, and wondered what would happen if I had a small bleed in the brain or somewhere. I concluded that taking anticoagulants was too risky and stopped them. In the last two years I've not had any problems and my cuts heal very quickly.
Avatar f tn They certainly hear all the negative media coverage damning the prescription and use of long term opiates. If we influence or change one person's negative attitude towards chronic pain and its management than we are fighting the war against us! Yes the War against Us, Against Chronic Pain Patients. You should not be shamed or harassed into this position, "stop the mess and live in constant pain." Taking your husband to your next appt along with educating him may be beneficial.
Avatar m tn The only reason that I ask is that I've heard on of the long-term side effects on dxm use is being a bit lathargic. I'm that way now and the VA did an MRI of my brain and found that my adrenal glad had begun to shrink so, it wasn't producing enough of the thyroid hormone.....I can already tell I'm got some defects from the long term use in my cognitive abilities. I'm down to 18 pills day. 1 pill every two days. The morning w/draws have pretty much stopped.
Avatar n tn Is there any info about long term plavix use. I have been taking Plavix along with Lisinopril and Toprol for the past two years after quad bypass but I don't feel very good about it anymore. Any info as in is this medicine weakening my internal organs.
Avatar f tn I have recently been feeling full of regret, very emotional and tearful, I have been informed this amy be due to the long term use of Naltrexone, and lack of natural endorphins , so i have been advised by my CDT Nurse to start thinking about coming off of them, is this right? Other wise, my life is so good compared to what it was, I am happy, but just feel like the past keeps wanting me to remember how bad things were... could my 'miracle' now be becoming my tormenter?
Avatar m tn Dear whoever may know, I was diagnosed with anxiety and panic disorder 2 1/2 years ago, and I have been taking Lexapro at 10 mg per day ever since. The medicine has really seemed to have helped my life in all aspects. Whether it has really helped or if this is some kind of placebo effect, I am unsure. I still have moments of reasonable stress at work, but who doesn't...most importantly, I don't have panic attacks anymore.
Avatar f tn The CHARISMA study, for example, suggested that long-term dual antiplatelet therapy in patients with vascular disease reduces death, MI, and stroke, but that benefit may not be specific to DES....The issue of restenosis with DES is the reference in the post, and there is evidence dual therapy helps reduce restenosis with DES...mechanism is not known, but the mechanism of action, etiology, differs between the two anti-platelet medications.
Avatar n tn after a stent inplant how long must clopidogrel-winthrop be taken my heart attack was caused by cholestral which now a 3
Avatar n tn If a patient has drug eluding stent (DES) implant it is recommended that plavix (clopidogrel) be prescribed up to a year to help prevent blood clots with the implant. If one has A-fib there is a risk that blood clots can occur as blood may pool due to the very fast beat. Information regarding the use of the 2 anti-platelet together can present a problem and the source is MedinceNet.com.
