Plavix long term effects

Common Questions and Answers about Plavix long term effects

plavix

Avatar n tn There is much contraversy over this and also as plavix is taken in conjunction with aspirin. Many doctors are now saying long term use of aspirin can cause bleeding in the brain, while others say that the clotting ability of blood is still sufficient to prevent this. More research is currently being undertaken to gather data to see which side of the argument has the strongest stance.
Avatar f tn There is no scientific evidence to support plavix having any use for stents after 12 months. You should have grown a new lining well within that time. However, there have been a few alarms raised from the US saying some people have formed clots very soon after plavix was stopped. This is now a strange time because some Doctors feel its best to take it for life, some believe 3 years, some 2 years and some 1 year.
Avatar n tn Is there any info about long term plavix use. I have been taking Plavix along with Lisinopril and Toprol for the past two years after quad bypass but I don't feel very good about it anymore. Any info as in is this medicine weakening my internal organs.
Avatar n tn Plavix is not recommended for long term anti-platelet therapy. In fact it is not recommended for bare metal stent...up to about a year with drug eluding stents. There is a high risk for excessive bleeding, and that risk according what I read with your post was unnecessary. Most doctors medicate with aspirin only as an anti-platelet drug. You should see another cardiologist as there is absolutely no evidence to support long term therapy with plavix.
Avatar n tn Scar tissue usually forms over the first few weeks, but thrombus can still be an issue long term. The two are probably very related because most patients grow a nice smooth lining through the stent which means a thrombus will never occur. I suppose it's a shame they can't perform a scan of some kind to make sure the lining through the stent is nice and smooth and the vessel is patent. This would be a good indicator to the risk factor of stopping plavix.
Avatar n tn Is there other mediciation that I could take besides PLAVIX ?? I am 67yom, and wanted to know more about taking Plavix (s/p stent x1). when was it introduce for usage ?, and How long can one take it with out hurting other parts of body?...My Dr seems to think that I'm to old to know anybetter (just from him always changing the subject or answering the phone just when I need an answer). Plavix is so exs pensive for me...on some days, my choose is food, and or medician.
Avatar n tn The blood in your mouth is most likely because of the Plavix along with the bruising. It is the side effects. The circulation is from your heart medication and heart medication makes you tired. You need the heart medication and Plavix and it would be risking to stop the Plavix. Lipitor is good for studies have shown that it has helped reduce cholesterol buildup in the arteries.
Avatar m tn Did your doctor determine that you risk was so high that he wanted you on Plavix long term, these are the only circumstances that using Plavix long term would be.
Avatar f tn //www.drugs.com/sfx/plavix-side-effects.html Natural alternative: Nattokinase is a potent fibrinolytic (anti-clotting) enzyme extracted and highly purified from a traditional Japanese food called Natto. Nattokinase enhances our body’s natural ability to fight blood clots, and has an advantage over blood thinners because it has a prolonged effect without side effects.
Avatar n tn I have seen no recent studies that recommends plavix for the long term...does your doctor rely different published information? Thanks for sharing, but I would ask the doctor how plavix is justified for a long term even without a digestive disorder. Do you have a blood clotting disorder?
Avatar m tn Personally, I would not take Plavix for the long term as the risk in my view excessive internal bleeding from a stroke and/or the digestive system. For me, aspirin for the long term is sufficient although Plavix has a different mechanism to prevent clots. However, some in the medical community may be relying on CPARIE trial!!.
Avatar f tn Is his doctor aware of the history of a bleeding ulcer that your post mentions? Has the ulcer completely healed? I certainly would make sure the doctor is aware of this. I know in my case, when taking the Plavix I couldn't drink. I love to drink wine and while on the Plavix one glass would go straight to my head. I felt drunk. And, yes,the bruising is terrible. I walk around with purple marks on my arms all the time.
7163794 tn?1457366813 myself to get up? Is this in my head, or is it possible there are long term effects to pain meds and suboxone use? Could it just be me? Has anyone else felt this?
Avatar f tn Does anyone know the long term effects of abusing pain killers? I found out today that a friend of my husbands actually had seizures because of how long she was on vicodin. Just curious.
Avatar n tn What are the long term effects? Now that the issue is resolved. what can we do to head off any long term problems from this?
Avatar m tn s dopamine structure and that i will never be happy again or feel as good as before i began the drug use. can anybody tell me what some of the long-term effects maybe and weather i will be able to fully recover. Did i permantely damage my brain's structure? Please, i need some medical information on this. I have been looking on the internet but not much exists.
Avatar n tn i dont know if these are possible long term effects of the drugs or something else. everyone keeps saying im having anxiety attacks but these feelings come when i am calm and seem very serious. if anyone has any advice on whats going on ,whether drug related or not,, or any advice on good doctors to go to PLEASE let me know immediatly.
Avatar f tn BUT, I have to take it or I am in pain. So try not to worry so much about the long term effects when you are trying to survive today. If you are worried about this I would talk to my doctor and let them know what you are experiencing and there may be something they can do differently. Just dont stop any seizure med without a doctors help. Hope you feel better..
Avatar m tn I have no symptoms and feel great; I am 54 and wondering if HEP C would kill me or if the treatment could cause long term effects that could ruin my health. The longest living male in my family was my father 86 and had slow progressive dementia the last 10 years.
Avatar f tn After a year, plavix is usually discontinue as the risk for clots is decreased, and aspirin is continued long term. The risk of a clot is about 3%. I am on coated aspirin, and that provides some protection against bleeding episodes in the upper GI with no problem. It seems logical the risk of bleeding is greater than the benefit against the probability of a blood clot in your condition based on your health history of bleeding, and plavix should be avoided.
1210142 tn?1266077031 No assimilation of Calcium, Vitamin Bs, Magnesium (which can affect your heart), increased broken hips... In summary, I would not worry for the interaction with Plavix, since probably you no longer need it, I would be very worry for taking them without a clear diagnostic or reason. If you have got a gastroscopy and they did not see the reason of your pain, chances are that you will get nothing from PPIs. If you have not got the gastroscopy, I would get it before going on PPIs for life.
